Are We Allowed To Use Spices?
I was never told not to have any spices, but I had pepper on egg whites around 2 weeks out and I could not tolerate it. It upset my stomach and made me cough which hurt my still healing incisions. I wasn't able to stomach pepper until about 5 weeks out. I had no problems with salt, paprika, garlic, onion powder. I never tried mustard, but that is only because I do not like it.

Ibuprofen?
I too would suggest a quick call to the doctor's office. I just had my 6 week check up with the doctor this morning and she said it was ok for me to occasionally take ibuprofen since I have no history of ulcers. I have a chronic inflammation condition and occasionally need to take NSAIDs to treat it so I discussed this with my surgeon prior to VSG. It can only be occasional, not everyday long term.

Incision Infected At Seven Weeks
Wow, that sounds painful. I would stick to washing with warm soapy Water until you hear from the doc. Let us know what the doctor says. I am 5 weeks out and would like to know what to look out for! I didn't know you could still have issues with the incision that far out. Hope it gets better soon.

Anyone Have A Hernia Repaired? Still Hitting The Pain Meds After 9 Days
I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. I stopped the heavy pain meds around day 5 but still took liquid tylanol through week 3. I needed to be able to drive or I may have used it longer.

Pain Left Side Under Rib
My biggest incision was on my right side and that is where I had the most pain when moving. I could tell it was getting better and less painful everyday so I did not worry. If the pain is really bad and not getting better I would call your doctor. When was your surgery?

Pain/recovery From Surgery
I have had both. Gallbladder removed in 98 and sleeved on 2/7/2012. I recovered quicker from my gallbladder surgery, but I was of course much younger so that could be some of it. I was back to work and school within 5 days for gallbladder. I was much more sore from VSG and went to work part time after 8 days. I have a desk job and sitting in one spot for so many hours was uncomfortable and I could not do the full 8 hours until 2 weeks out. I also had a very substantial hiatal hernial repaired at the same time as my VSG so I am not sure if that added recovery time and pain.

Steri Strips
My skin really holds adhesive so my doc gave me adhesive remover pads because they would not come off. I had to wet with warm soapy water and use those. It felt so good to have them off.

Wls 2/13. Scale Isn't Moving:(
I am going through the same thing, scale hasn't moved in a couple weeks. I try to concentrate more on how much better I am feeling already and that my clothes are for sure fitting looser. Even though you are not lifting weights, you are building up muscle walking on the treadmill and I bet loosing inches. Give your body a chance to adjust to the major change it just went through. I have 1 pair of pants I am using to judge how I am still losing inches even though the scale isn't moving. I had them on last week and they were a little looser on me, but then I put them on this week and they were falling down without a belt even though no change on the scale!

1 Month Post Op Today, Will When This Stall End?!
Thanks yecats. I know we shouldn't be discourage, but it is hard not to feel that way. That is why I love this board, there is always someone facing the same thing. Just got to keep telling myself to look at the big picture. Looking forward to looking back and laughing when we are both in onederland!

1 Month Post Op Today, Will When This Stall End?!
1 month ago today I was sleeved and have had a great experience. Thank you to everyone on here for sharing questions and answers. I don't know what I would do without this board. I hit my 3 week stall a little early and still seem to be in a stall for weight loss. I am not concerned since the pants I just wore last week are sort off falling down today so I know I am losing inches. woohoo! I was wondering how long your first stall lasted?

Nsv And Houston Livestock Show And Rode-O! Lol
Have a great time and enjoy the carnival rides! Those funnel cakes and tater twisters are hard to resist, but I know you will do great. I grew up in Houston, but haven't been to the rodeo in many, many years. I would love to see a picture of your steampunk vest!

Bad Breath?
I agree this is the likely cause. I have had the same off and on since surgery and in the past with low carb diets and it does get better when I drink more water. If it gets worse or unbearable, certainly something to ask your doctor about. Extremely bad breath can be a symptom of many things.

Question For Pre-Op/post: Ever Thought About Chosing A Different Surgery Like The Ds/bypass?
When I went to my surgeon for the first time I had my mind set on bypass and wasn't familiar with the sleeve at all. After she looked at my medical history and saw I had been on anit-inflammatory off and on for a year she suggested the sleeve. There is a high risk for an ulcer at the point where the intestines are reconnected to the stomach with the bypass, the same for DS, if you take certain medications. After I researched I was so glad she suggested the sleeve. I was most worried about the malabsorption with bypass and the sleeve seemed perfect for me. I personally will not be able to do the DS later, but I do like that is an option to do later when you are sleeved. From what I read, most lose enough to be happy with just the sleeve.

Burning Pain Next To Belly Button Post Op
I am 3 weeks post op and still have some pain in the belly button area near the largest incision when I bend down or move a certain way. It seems to be when my stomach pulls down on the incision area. liquid Tylenol (I use CVS brand) seems to control the pain well. I take it once or twice a day. It is getting better so I am not concerned. It was a couple months before I felt completely better after my gallbladder removal.

Love it! I think the stitch line or a band-aid on the forehead would be a nice touch to show it is a healing stomach.

My Nosy Boss.....
I told my work I was having my hiatal hernia repaired only. My hernia was repaired at the same time they did my sleeve. I am not very close with my coworkers and didn't think I needed to share every detail. I believe the recovery time is about 1 to 2 weeks, more like 4 weeks if you have to lift at your work. Plus if you get a hiatal hernia repaired you have to chew your food really well and take small bites, so sort of fits with the sleeve.
