  1. Congrats! LOVED your story!! I have been sleeved for 3 weeks now and love love love it!!!!!!
  2. I actually had my sleeve done 3 weeks ago but thank you!!!!
  3. Sounds like you're doin great! 8 miles?! Great job,I hope I can get up to that quickly! I am from Modesto too! I was sleeved by Dr. Coates here in Modesto. I am 3 weeks out, will be a month out on Wednesday.
  4. I'm 3 weeks out and can't eat eggs yet. They put me on softs at a week out and it was not happenin. I learned to go at my own pace so I don't feel like I overdid it.When I did try to eat softs too early and it made me feel way too full, the feeling usually lasted for the better part of the day =( Hope u feel better soon!!
  5. LOL,actually I have swallowed gum by accident on numerous occasions..lol. Especially when caught off guard with something funny,I laugh, and all of a sudden,ooopss..lol.
  6. What a motivation you are!! You look stunning! Great job!
  7. Girl you gotta lose the scale! I stalled at a week and a half out and was weighing myself once even sometimes twice daily then I decided to give the scale to my mom and she brought it back about 4 days later and I had lost 3 lbs!! lol Now I weigh myself once a week which to some is still alot.
  8. I was told no gum-they just said "No gum chewing. If you swallow it,it's bad, really bad" lol I have to admit tho,I REALLY miss gum! =(
  9. Hang in there girl! There is light at the end of the tunnel, just give it a couple more days. ((HUGS))
  10. Good luck to you!!!! I agree with someone above that the first week is a lil tough but after the first week for me it was a piece of cake! I am now 3 weeks out and if I could give you any advice it would be to walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip, get in your protein and vitamins when the dr allows.
  11. Congrats on your sleeve! HAng in there, like SHC says,it does get better as each day goes by. I am 3 weeks out and am tolerating cold liquids much better. I really don't even feel like I had surgery except that I can't eat hardly anything! LOL Just keep doing what you're doing and it will get better soon!! After the first week,I would say the most important things are liquids, proteins, walking, vitamins. ((HUGS))
  12. Are u asking if you can eat baby food after surgery? Your surgeon or Nutritionist should tell you what foods you can eat and when. But when you are in the pureed stage, yes baby food is fine. Even add a lil seasoning to it and it makes it taste much better. But instead of baby food if you wanted, you could always just puree what you want to eat. Tuna,a lil mayo(lite) and an egg is awesome. Just about any Soup pureed is really yummy. There are many options. Good luck!!!
  13. Good luck to all of you here!!!! Dehydration is a big deal... Just make sure to sip and when they say you need to sip constantly at first, they aint liein!! lol. I have to sip like all day just to get in 40-60 ozs but it is do-able!
  14. Big congrats on this life changing decision!!! I wish you all the best of luck in getting an approval on the first try!!!! I am so glad you have your family's support, that is really a big deal. I think the insurance company just wants proof of time that you were on a diet supervised by a doctor. I didn't have to have the supervised diet with my insurance but at the seminar my surgeon pointed out that even if you gain weight on the supervised diet,it still counts as a diet. =) Good luck!!!! I am only 3 weeks out from my sleeve and already I feel like I have a new lease on life!!!
  15. Congrats on the great news!! Hope you are healing well from whatever surgery it is that you had! ((HUGS))
  16. Hey there! Welcome and thank you for speaking up,we're here for you! I have already been sleeved 3 weeks ago and I did not self pay so I can't offer you much advice. =( BUT,I wanted to wish you good luck!!!! ((HUGS))
  17. You look friggin awesome girl!!! Way to go!!! I will be one month out on Wednesday and I have lost about 16 lbs too!
  18. It sounds like you are one of those that hit the 3-4 week stall. Just keep following the directions of your dr. Get in as much water and protein as possible, and exercise. I'm concerned for you about the vomiting. You may want to call your dr about that. I know I have a hard time with eating too fast and that makes me nauseous.
  19. Girl, don't you dare say you're done!!!! I am only 3 weeks out so I would kill to be a size 10 and u look awesome in your profile pic btw!!! Just cut the carbs and start exercising like crazy!! This is always how I lost weight before my sleeve, and it worked everytime! My problem was keeping up with it long enough to lose all my weight and then keep it off! But I know my sleeve was the tool I needed to lose it and KEEP it off. I believe if you combine LilMissDiva's Basic boot camp with some hardcore excercising, you'll have it off in no time, and come summer, your bod will thank you for it!
  20. My surgeon has probably done less sleeves than that and I feel he did an amazing job on mine. He has done thousands of weight loss surgeries,it's just that the sleeve is fairly new and most insurances have just this in the past few yrs started covering it. Not alot of ppl know though that the sleeve is actually part of another weight loss surgery call the Duodenal Switch. The Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is only the making the stomach smaller part. So,your surgeon may have done even more Duodenal Switches, which means,he was doing a sleeve at the same time. I would ask about it. Good luck to you, you'll do great!
  21. I stayed 2 nights. I wouldn't have wanted to go home the next morning, heck when I got home after 2 nights,I wanted to go back and get pampered some more!! lol. Good luck to you,if you are concerned with staying only 1 day,let your surgeon know, they should accomodate you to make you feel comfortable!
  22. Sorry, forgot to answer the water part! lol. Ok so I am required to get in 64 ozs at least in a 24 hr period.I couldn't do it. I still can only do about 40 ozs at 3 weeks out. Just try try try. I keep a huge cup right next to me when I sleep and I even sip sip sip every time I wake up in the night with my babies. I wake up sipping, carry the cup with me everywhere sipping lol. Honestly, after making yourself sip almost constantly,it kinda becomes a habit. If you can't tolerate cold water at first, try warm broth, tea,or even luke warm water. I LOVE a cup of hot herbal tea first thing in the morning,it makes my sleeve feel awesome and sets me for the day. =)
  23. Good luck to both you ladies!!!! I was sleeved on Jan25th so I am 3 weeks out! I love my new sleeve!!! Let me start by saying no two people handle pain or recover the same. I have had 3 c-sections and the sleeve was a piece of cake compared to them! When I first woke after having my sleeve done,I felt no pain as the anesthesia had not completely worn off. I then went to recovery where my pain was managed well with a pump for me to push as well as meds in my iv when I asked. My pain was about a 3 tops in the recovery room. Then I got to my actual room. I was feeling alot better, sleeping alot, but again,my pain was being managed with meds. When I got up to walk the halls a bit,the worst pain was from the gas. They pump you full of air during surgery so they have room to work. That was really the only pain I felt but it hurt! I would say about a 4-5. In my chest and lung, shoulder and neck areas. The key is to keep taking deep breaths, take gas x chewables, and get your butt outta that hospital bed and walk, walk, walk(if you are permitted to do so). It helps to have someone rub and pat your back while walking to help get that gas off. It is totally do-able. I would do it again in a second honestly. It is so worth the 16+ lbs I've lost in 3 weeks and the rest I know I will lose forever! I feel great now by the way, able to tolerate soft foods and no pain AT ALL. You both can do this, good luck and keep us updated!!! (((HUGS)))
