I went through feelings of anger pre-op--angry that I couldn't eat what I wanted, anger that I was so far gone that I had to have surgery. I comes out in weird ways. Get your protein and water in, and your subconscious will get over it.

Hi Susan-
I sent you an email. I'm happy to talk about it in detail with you.
-
That sounds about like how I was doing one week out. By 2 weeks all the incisions were completely healed and the soreness was gone. I hope your post-op visit goes well!

You'll probably feel better if you call your insurance company and ask exactly what the criteria are for the sleeve to be covered. That way you're not up in the air. Good luck with everything.

So glad to hear your stall is over! Woo!
-
Great--glad you made it through!
-
That is great!

Congrats, but stay away from that pizza, girl!
-
100 pounds--that is amazing! As long as you stay away from fat, carbs, and sugar, I'm sure you will keep it off. Great job!

Thanks everybody!! It's day 2 and I'm perfectly happy. I almost can't believe I had major surgery! I'm completely up and around (though I burp a lot).

Try making deviled eggs with lowfat mayonnaise, but instead of stuffing the mixture in the shells, just pure the whole thing. It might be a change of pace, and gives you some protein. Add a little paprika and brown mustard to kick it up a notch!

Good for you for re-focusing. You can do it!

Thanks! I'm sleeved now are am really happy about it! No more misery!

Several people have said that when they weren't losing, they upped their protein, and got some more "good" calories in from protein and that jump-started them.

Go by carbs period. But net carbs is carbs minus fiber.

Congrats! You could try mixing some isopure zero carb powder in with your water--it mixes really well and could help you get your protein in. The flavors I have are vanilla and banana creme and they taste fine to me.
-
Congrats! I hope you have a great recovery!

Hang in there. It gets easier--I'm on day 6 of mine and I've totally made peace with it.

We have the same pre-op diet, except that I can eat any lean meat and have a salad but no fruit. Today was so much easier than the first 4 days!

I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet and have finally figured out how to do it without being hungry. I was whining all over the place until about 10am today. What exactly does your diet consist of? I hope you are having an easier first few days than I did.

You are having surgery on my birthday! My surgery is 7/14/10. Stock up on protein powder, cream soups, flavored sugar free syrups (for less boring shakes), sugar free pudding, and buy some 4 oz ramekins or bowls to get you used to the new portion sizes. Good luck! Check my blog if you want the blow-by-blow account of my experience, since I'll be a week ahead of you.

I don't even own a scale. I just eat like I'm supposed to and get weighed at the doctor's office. It's the only way I can keep my sanity. Hang in there!

OK, now that I've whined and moaned, I pulled out the info from the bariatric program and found the following: I can have a 1 cup salad in addition, and I can make my own dressing for it--woo! So I got up and went to the store, and got a brainstorm while I was there--I can season my meat any way I want--so why not with pico de gallo (chopped raw garlic, onion, tomato, cilantro)? I'm getting excited about dinner. I picked up some asparagus that I'm going to dress with a ginger vinagrette. I just need to get over myself lol, and get creative with it!
I've NEVER blogged before!

Don't worry, your weight loss is perfectly normal, at least according to my surgeon. Keep going!
