  1. First I’m not a medical professional, but I’ve had a little experience with this. I find that unless the pills or capsules are HUGE, they do go down. You may have to crush,or open , right after surgery, or after a fill when there is a little irritation, but I find I can swollow capsule and pills just fine. One at a time- not all at once the way I used to. Drink, pill, drink. Wait. Replete as necessary. I have been banded for six years, I read the same info about crushing things, but my doc actually said, you shouldn’t have any problem. I’m answering this because I know how quickly unfortunate side effects happen when you stop taking these meds “cold”. Withdrawal is miserable, and should be medically supervise d. Good luck dear. I hope this helps , even if it’s just having someone reach out to you.

  3. Once I slowed down, I noticed how fast my spouse ate. I think part of my speed eating prior to banding, was to finish as quickly as he did. Since being banded, I actually bought a minute timer hour glass to keep turning over between bites. It's been fun and funny. We joke and laugh about it- but he is eating less now that his brain is making the time connection!
  4. Have to admit, I am having fun putting new looks together! If I don't love it, not going to buy it- no matter how great the price is. Even my shoes dropped a size, so everything needs to be replaced. Clearing out my old clothes was difficult, like the lady said, if you can afford it, enjoy it, and that depends on your budget.

I know it's not always practical, but if you can take a snap lock container and put half in right away- saying you are saving some for later, or let your friends know you are not very hungry and just having a cup of soup or dinner salad, spend most of your time cutting the salad smaller, and participate in the çonversation, most everyone will forget once they begin eating. Soon, you will become more comfortable with it yourself, and with practice, you will handle it smoothly. We all feel or felt the same. Feeling empathy!
  6. Congratulations on the new one coming into your life soon! Grandbabies can be very motivating! Good luck!
  7. Wow. You are on your way! Impressed.
  8. I do have another friend who is sad due to the loss of friends that she is now thinner than they are. She is the same warm caring person, but because some of their activities and social events surrounded food and drink, they no longer include her. Sharpie, I know you are right, I think it helps us greatly that we have equine friends and horses, we tend to be an independent lot to begin with, but I know my friend is hurting, and it makes me sad and a little angry how superficial people can and always will be.
  9. Enjoy your insight, and so grateful for your sharing your methods! Love it!

    Love it!
  11. Junior high. How well I remember the calling out of your weight to be recorded. Being the highest weight , the teasing begins....
  12. . My daughter in law pointed out to me, that I prioritize my appointments with other people, so why not schedule in some appointment time with myself. At first, it sounded ridiculous , but I decided to try it. Guess what? It's so simple, it should not work - but it does! I promise the house work will still be there in a couple of hours, or even tomorrow. Thank you C., you inspire me!
