  1. That is super. I wish I was like that.
  2. Welcome and congratulations on getting the band. It's the best thing I ever did for myself. This morning my husband said I look much thinner but the tape measure didn't say it. We are all here to listen and help and we do not judge, or at least most of us don't.
  3. Good evening all. I was reading an article on Yahoo about a woman who lost 222(?) but not with WLS. It said that there is a National Weight Control Registry. Has anyone ever heard of them? After you have kept off a certain amount of weight for 1 year you can register. Interesting. Tonight I had one of my favorite dinners. Large shrimp, pea pods, water chestnuts, a few almonds that I cook together with hoison sauce and another Chinese sauce and put it all onto brown rice. I love that meal. Have a great snow free evening.

You are very funny. I am sorry you're having a bad day. I hate blood so don't show me any. You can have my snow and the snow that is coming back tomorrow.

Thank you for the great laugh. Sorry to hear you're having a bad morning. Throw a snow ball at someone you hate and you'll feel better.

I could have written that. My weight has not changed for weeks. It seems to go up more than down lately. This morning it was back down a speck. I weigh many times a day. Bad. I have been bad and my husband does stop saying it to me. We have to remember it's a tool and a tool needs help to work. Have a great day of healthy eating.
  7. I am watching Wendy Williams and Lisa Lampanelli is on about her sleeve surgery. She is down 102. She wore a size 24 and now is around a 6!! Good for her. She had the surgery in April, I think. She looks great. She said she felt the sleeve was better than the band at her age, 51. I am 62. They keeping bleeping her language. Lisa is saying that it is a tool and you have to work with it. Her husband had the sleeve a few months after her. Good for them. She is very funny and crude but that is what I love about her. She is saying her sex life is better and the stomachs can now touch. We all need people like Lisa to tell the world that surgery is a helper/tool for all of us. Thank you, Lisa.
  8. I am doing great thanks and you? I have been going to the gym almost every day with the hub and we are enjoying it. That is a shock.
  9. Why don't people use mirrors? I was getting a manicure on Sunday and a very thin 40ish woman came in. She wore tight print leggings tucked into awful sox with high wedge platform shoes. OMG! she looked awful. I am now watching Price is Right. A woman has on an awful top, skirt, tights and boots and pig tails (for young girls) and she was over weight, which made her look even worse. Mirrors, people, mirrors. I am no fashion maven but I try to look decent. I use many mirrors to try to look my best for the day Time to go have lunch out with some cousins. I had a protein shake so I would not eat the wrong foods so I'll have an iced tea or hot tea. Enjoy your day everyone.
  10. Good luck. You'll do great and love the new you.

Wonderful! good for you. Since the band my husband said I don't snore anymore. That is a plus since I couldn't do the Cpap at all. Enjoy your day and the Doctors. Great show and I love Dr. Oz, too.

Tonight for dinner I had extra large shrimp with pea pods, water chestnuts, almonds and brown rice. It was wonderful. I used a chinese sauce to cook it all together. Then around 10pm (I am a night owl and sleep all morning) I made sweet and sour meatballs. They are so good. I use sugar free/reduced sugar grape jelly and equal part chili sauce and heat together and then add your meatballs (raw). I use some seasonings and a drop of panko and then cook them on low for about 1 hour. I have a food saver so I can freeze into small amounts for me. My husband doesn't eat meat and doesn't eat turkey sweet and sour balls. He had American chop suey made with ground turkey. He loves that. I hate that. Husband just left to meet my DIL at the mechanics. My son forgot they have an early appointment and their baby is 1 1/2 months old so tonight was better than early morning for them. My son is almost 38 and still needs us, I am happy about that. Have a great sleep everyone. Arlene
  13. Good luck with the new you. You will do great.
  14. Hi, Call the restaurant tomorrow and ask for help. Meatballs is a good choice. They were one of my first real meals. A nice tender filet goes down easy. As for the Cheesecake Factory, you're on your own. I don't eat cheesecake. My thing there was coffee ice cream and Godiva hot fudge. Haven't been since the band. I love their darker bread. That I could the whole loaf. Bread made me fat. But really call the restaurant. They are there to help customers because without us they would not be open. Good luck and happy eating.
  15. I just told my husband your story and his remark was, it's no ones f'in business! Being an uncle is great. And being a wonderful husband is a hard job. Smile! we are all here for you.
  16. A Fitbit is a very small devise which I wear on my bra and you hook it up with your computer and you record your food and exercises. It keeps track of your walking, stairs (only going up) and the calories you have burned. I record with my iPhone also. I love it, but not cheap. They sell for $100. but at the AT&T store near me they were $25. off. You can go to their web site and look at it since they have different models and prices rangers. Good luck. Going to the gym soon.
  17. I love my fitbit, too.
  18. WOW, why didn't we all grow up like that? I come from a Jewish family where food was the entertainment. On the holidays there were endless courses of food. Boy have I changed from that life. Have a nice visit with the family.
  19. Hi, I just joined a gym with no commitments. You can quit whenever and it's just $10. per month. I joined almost a month ago. I ride the recumbent bike and then do some arm and leg machines. I was riding 5 or so minutes and today did 23 with hills on level 5. I still have a big muffin top. I have not tried any classes yet. I am 62 and they have a "senior" class 3 times a week and I guess I am chicken. I don't use a tread mill because of bad knees. Maybe you area has a gym that is cheap. Planet Fitness is $10. per month. Good luck!!!!

soft veggies, like mashed potatoes, butternut squash. Did your dietitian give you a print out of foods and when to eat each item? Mine did. I even got a huge book when I started at the hospital and it explained everything and told brand names of foods to eat.

I wish you luck. I am sorry but can't help, I have been banded less than 6 months. Maybe look for a new doctor that does the band or a large city hospital may be able to help you out.
  22. I included the recipe in my notes. There is no real recipe just some cheese on parchment paper (that was written about 5 times) and add some garlic, ranch dressing powder whatever. They are really good. Enjoy them. I am computer challenged and don't know how to do links, pictures, cut and paste.
  23. I am so sorry to hear about all your problems. Thank you though for sharing the good and bad so we all know what can and can not happen. Good luck tomorrow with the PS.
  24. Good evening all, I had my support meeting tonight and we met our new dietitian. She handed out new recipes and I just tried a great one and needed to share it. Homemade Baked Cheese Crisps (they are great) preheat oven to 350 and put parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Must!! use parchment paper. use shredded cheese and seasonings (I did not use seasoning) and put little lumps of the mixture on the parchment paper, spaced out because the will grow. and spread. (Their words not mine) about a teaspoon of cheese. Now put it on a rack centered in the middle of the oven and bake 5-7 minutes. When they start to turn brown take them out and let them cool. I made mine with a pizza cheese blend and the hub and I loved them Enjoy! You can use cheddar/jack and Ranch dressing to make it a Mexican blend. Add garlic, chili powder.
