  6. this is exactly what ive been doing all along the last three months. Ive lost over 30 pounds in that time. i must say, im eating just about anything i want to... including a small amount of chocolate some days. a couple of nights a week i will have a cone icecream. apart from that i chop and change my meals around a lot. i just dont stress about it and its working really well. i think im varying between 1000 calories and about 1400 a day. the odd day i may not have 1000.
  7. thats a great idea. i must ask my surgeon i if i can get one for myself.
  8. ive had a lot of books to read though and i havent started it yet. I wasnt shure that my body would still continue to lose weight so i bought the book for some strategies. I am losing though which is a great news. im going to read the book and take some notes anyway..
  9. it is hard but this time will go quickly enough. i didnt do anything in particular to help me though, just that i had some hot cups of bonox, which is a strong beef drink we can buy here in australia. that helped to ease the hunger a bit.
  10. it is part of the healing process and that hardness will leave eventually. if you are going to massage... be VERY careful. i personally would just leave it alone. it will go. ive always had raised hardened areas on my incision sites after surgery. They are fine now, they have all disappeared over time.
  11. this is a good point. im three months post op and cant eat bananas. the only fruits ive had are raspberries, mashed... bananas (cant eat them..), and guava. the guava i have trouble with as well. i would like to know a little more about eating fruits... thanks everyone.
  12. hi dliteful.... im in australia, we are going out into the south pacific to the tropical islands.... about 11 days. we have to fly from tasmania (island state where i live) to brisbane to board the ship though. looking forward to it... this winter is just so cold, and im feeling more cold since ive lost so much weight. lol.
  13. i agree benty lol. do you think the book is a good guide ??
  14. i know what you mean. i used to be that way as well. knowing that there was a special occasion coming up or a holiday away... and it ended up with me being bigger than ever !! lol. Yep... if you can just relax with it all, i know it will come of for you in good time. You will be going into this holiday weighing less anyway, wont you ??... ive got an 11 night cruise coming up with my youngest grand daughter who is 15. im hoping to be able to go ''jiving'with her at the nightclub on board.. lol. and im hoping to get lots of swimming in as well. I would like to lose another 14 pounds but i know that i have to be patient, and not think about it.. i hope you have a great vacation. where are you going for it?
  15. i havent thrown anything out as yet. my slacks are very sloppy on me now, but im wearing them for another few weeks, or until its impossible to wear them, depending on how much weight i lose in that time. I still have a wardrobe of great clothes that fitted me five years ago. Tailored clothes that havent gone out of fashion. i cant wait to get into them again.
  16. yep... its perfectly normal. for some reason the hormones are affected as well. you have to remember your body has gone through a major surgery ... that can upset the ''applecart'' without anything else. i had the blues for a while also. it wasnt until i was nearly free of pain and discomfort that i started to pull right out of it. when i was able to get over the blues i was on a high for two weeks... lol. better than prozac !! lol. i still get high sometimes, just out of the blue. i think the sheer realisation that im finally not fat an unwell anymore has a lot to do with it?? you too will feel on top of the world really soon. Its quite and adventure. Good luck.
  17. its something to do with cooling our core temp. i remember reading something about it years ago. i dont know why but since ive been banded im craving very cold water drinks more than ever.. they are very satisfying.
  18. thats great, i love to read how successful its been for you. How did you get on with fills, checkups etc ?? did you find a dr closer to where you live?
  19. yes, i had it .... burning pain that was with me for weeks on end. eventually it did go, and it only appears when ive eaten the wrong thing or not chewed enough, plus too much. I think it will go for you.... like the dr said, give it a bit of time and see what happens. i definately had it though and when it got bad my left neck was very painful as well.
  20. i had BM! of just over 31, bad joints, replacements, and i had lap band done three months ago. Now im down to 29 BMI... pain nearly completely gone from joints etc. all up if i remember correctly i had aboutr 75 pounds to lose. Ive lost 30 already. the quality of life now is way beyond what i would have expected from the surgery... already im benefiting in more ways than i realised i would.
  21. im in accelerated weight loss again this week after having 1 cc in the band. that makes four ccs.. yesterday i ate a lot of sugar. thats not me normally, so that was a bad day. i had a lot of discomfort trying to eat a piece of fruit and it never settled all day. i had some soft jubes in the afternoon. i know that i shouldnt have had them, and im not a sweet tooth. yesterday was just ''one of those days''. however, this morning when i weighed, im down another two pounds... rapidly getting to my goal. Honestly, im eating what i want to... like i said, just in very small amounts. hopefully in another week i can eat a banana. lol.
  22. when i had my first fill, which was 3cc... i had trouble for at least seven days, possible longer. then it all settled down again and i was fine. ive just had another 1 cc put in and i really dont expect to be o.k. to eat properly for at least a week. thats how i am. i think everyone is different. why dont you give it another couple of days just on liquids? you may be surprised at how it does settle. good luck.
  23. ...thanks... Actually, its just marvellous. everything is happening without me having to make it an obsession.... thats the way i need/want it to be. Im glad to hear that you are of the same mind. i think that in the end, losing slow but sure wins out. theres less chance of discouragement and certainly no unreal expectations that will disappoint. im glad that you are doing well also... keep up the good work. Im two days out from my second fill, only had one cc... my band is tight ( just from the post fill ) so im not having much at all. i had a bowl of tomato soup with some melted cheese in it for lunch. a tablespoon of baked beans for breakfast. it takes me a few days to settle down again after a fill, even a small one.good to talk with you. judy
  24. i agree about solid protein for breakfast. i have a small amount of bacon plus one fried egg.... that does me well until lunch.
