  1. bite the bullet and go without them. i did. ive never looked back.
  2. thanks for this. im two months out and having big issues still.
  3. i had/have problems eating fish as well , even before i had any fill... i think some people find they cant eat it .
  4. are you living through undue stress right now?? sometimes stress can make the band a lot tighter. it does with me.
  5. Gar... thanks so much for sharing this.. you are very encouraging. im only a couple of months out post banding and i want to be successful long term .... so i need to read these stories more. thanks again. judy
  6. i agree with every post here. its hard when those days come along, for whatever reason, to be strong. Ive had four stressed days where ive been away, had a lot of responsibility, had to drive in the city which i hate.. was in a strange bed overnight. then after two days of this had to come home to full on cooking and cleaning for the men in our family. i was exhausted to the point where i was feeling unwell. every time this happens to me i get restriction... and whats worse is the fact that im tired means i crave fatty foods and more carbs. so ive had two bad days of badly inflamed esophagus. its just starting to come right tonight. i vomited this morning... and that was just after a little yoghurt. i feel for all of you who have times when things dont go right. But, in the end, the band is more than worth it, and the weight loss is a marvellous thing to have.
  7. every comment here is really good advice. Your family are irrisponsible for treating you like this... but it shouldnt interfere with you and your good progress. im wondering if you are going through some post op depression ? some of us here have had really down times immediately post op. plus the fact your body went through a lot of trauma, and is still healing from that, as well as a liquid diet. If you are going through some mild depression... know that its very temporary, and that each day that goes by is going to see your body healing . You have the most wonderful opportunity now to achieve your dreams. your dream of being slim and healthy. i dont know if you have had a weight issue all your life, it doesnt matter... just being overweight now and knowing that the weight is going to start coming off your body and transforming you is an exciting thing to have going on. Of course you dont feel the same as you did before the surgery. like i said, you are post op. after nearly every op Ive had i suffered with a post op depression. it wasnt bad enough for me to take meds... it just happened. i got over it seen enough. Im sure that what you are coping with now has a lot to do with depression... temporary depression. I would do what the other women have advised you to do. no one.. if someone offers you food that you cant eat... and they wont listen to you when you refuse.. take it, mutilate it and put it in the rubbish. that will speak loudly enough for you. Have some liquid treats in the fridge.. im sure there are nice drinks that you can have. Go for more walks. Walking will help you to overcome any depression you may have. its the best thing out for combating depression. Start thinking more about the good side of having the surgery, not about the food that you were a slave to... Good luck with it all... you know that we are all here for you. get online when you need supportas well. im praying for you.
  8. well... i think personally that we do need some supplements. even just for the short term. im on a liquid multi vitamin for now.
  9. well... here is my story... firstly.. ive been banded since 22rd march 2012. just prior to banding i was 15 stone... thats 15 x 14 pounds... i was crippled with painful feet, so much swelling in my legs, arthritis in every joint i could hardly do my days work. i have two artificial knee joints. it was the arthritis that prompted the drs to do the procedure on me. im 66. my health outlook was not good. im also hypertensive. so i had surgery on the 23rd. within a week i had lost about 12 pounds. the swelling in my feet had completely disappeared, swelling in my legs had gone.. the pain in my feet had gone plus in other joints as well. i had problems with gas, which lasted quite a while afterwoods but i tell you?? being able to move around, especially to walk, without being frightened of having a fall . the gas eventually went, but it was better for me to cope with the pain of gas than the very real fear of falling or doing myself an injury. Now im 2 months out from surgery. im eating solids now, very carefully and slowly. i had some issues with my first fill, three weeks ago. now im settled really well. my weight loss has slowed down a bit. idont mind. if you could see me now?? compared to before the surgery?? ive lost nearly 30 pounds and thats made such a difference to me. my original goal was to lose 73 pounds. im well on the way. the weight loss has slowed down quite a bit but i done mind at all. i can see by my clothes that its coming off well. it if takes me another nine months i will be happy . there is no way i could ever have coped with doing this on my own. i have lots of days where ,even if i was motivated some of the time to diet, i wouldnt be able to diet on my own without help. i have slight depression at times. when im like this its really hard to be able to be disciplined at all. Its times like this where my band keeps me in line. Im still having a glass of wine when i want to have one. sometimes i might have a small helping of cooked chips if i really need to. To me, thats fine. im still seeing a pound a week off my weight, even with the extra things i like to have. Mind you... im not saying its all right to have chips... or with some people having wine of a night isnt a good idea either. but its o.k. for me right now, as im still losing the weight i want to. Thats my story. both my husband and myself are so pleased with the results, and believe me, every single eating habit i had in the past has had to be reviewed, and pretty drastically. lol. Thats o.k. i have a faithful companion sitting there who is always on guard to let me know when im off base. lol. I appreciate it so much. i feel really positive and glad right now that i had it done. i hope everyone else's story is the same.
  10. buy yourself a blender that you dont hold onto.. you will get your money well and truly back i can promise you. Apart from the steamer which you have, i cant think of anythign else that you need.
  11. really the only way to go is to dig your heels in and take the bull by the horns and start having it black, whether you like it or not. ive been there and done that. i actually started off without milk, but some sugar. then i cut out the sugar and had some sweetener in it which i gradually cut down over two weeks. now i have it black, ive developed a real taste for it.. in fact, its the true flavour of coffee ,which i now love. ive been having black coffee for nearly 20 years now. In fact, apart from about one cuppachino a month i dont have milk at all. if i did start again, it would make me feel ill. So... if you really do benefit from coffee, you need to dig your heels in and go through the tansition period. You can do it. Im having three caffeinated coffees a day... i enjoy every single one of them. The only difference now is i have equal to a cup and not a mug.
  12. its getting access to it. i live in country Australia.
  13. you dont have any issues with taking the capsules then?? im having issues with my bowels still. its the diet transition for sure. not good. Im going to the chemist in the next day or so ... i will get some probiotics for myself.
  14. thanks for this advice. is this probiotic in tab form or liquid? i think i need it as well.
  15. thats fantastic... !! way to go. ! congrats !!
  16. cocoabean... im really pleased to hear that you are well on the road to recovery after that sickness.. that was a horrible thing to have to go through. YOur surgeon sounds like he gives his patients the time so you can both talk as much as you need to. thats good. i agree about having small fills. its a better way to go, as we are all different and its unpredictable as to how we will react each time. i was so grateful to get over the 3cc fill. i didnt think i was going to for a while... i didnt want to have to make another trip to the city for an unfill. its not necessary now. my weight has stalled at the moment but im not stressing about that...i look good in my clothes again. I guess i will start losing again when im ready.
  17. i was having big issues before with chicken breast, fish, and most other protein, right up until about five days ago. last night i had some curried chicken breast, with some broccoli. i cut it up the size of my little fingernail , chewed about fifty times and waited. it went down well. this morning i had one egg with a half slice of wholemeal dry toast. that went down well also. My experience is that the size of the portion and the time spent chewing is well worth the time and effort. ive had one fill of 3ccs, and was having all kinds of difficulties until the last five days.
  18. im the same... always loved savoury and salt more than sugar, but lately ive had more cravings for sugar.. got no idea where this has sprung up from. lol.
  19. how wonderful for you. a big congratulations.... and you are just getting started. lol. way to go.
  20. unfortunately this is a side effect that most of us have had to walk through. plenty of walking.. gas strips or whatever other meds you have for gas.... and try walking with your arms above your head for a while.(llock your hands above your head)_ i found this helped me a lot when the gas was reluctant to leave. i didnt take any meds to relieve gas at all... i actually got myself through it. lol. im finding now that i get a pain in my shoulderblade when im eating and i have to stop or ease up. its been a real learning curve. Im sorry i dont have anymore tips for you... but walking seems to be the best way to move the gas.
  21. yes, i have.. its soothing for me sometimes and i look for the cold water instead of room temp.
  22. so you have had issues with getting stuck after fills as well?? ive only had one fill, it took me two weeks to come right again, i thought my throat was cut.. lol. im over that now though. what have you noticed now you are in the green zone? whats different for you from before?
  23. im the same. especially of a night i have a huge build up of gas. its not very nice, usually its through late evening. i never had problems with gas like this before. There must be a reason for it all.... does anyone know?
  24. it took me two weeks before i had the ability to eat anything besides soup and sliders. i think if you persevere and chew well, eat slowly, give it another week, see how you go. its more than two weeks though... do you think you need more removed?
