  1. dont be scared. you are stronger than you think. the liquid diet helps shrink your liver for surgery. dont fear it. it must be done. if one day you dont do good, do better the next.
  2. just make sure your protein needs are met
  3. i say get to your doctor as soon as you can. weeping is not a good thing. hope you feel better soon.
  4. i know some swear by 3 meals a day only. i do eat my 3 meals but also eat my healthy Snacks (so i am not hungry) you must eat so you wont be hungry. in the morning for example i am not hungry but i drink my shakes and have a little scoop of oatmeal because if i dont, by lunch time i will be ravenous. you must feed your body. Protein is the fuel you need. ps- if you let yourself get too hungry, you may over eat (and choose bad foods to satisfy you). pps-never go over 1 cup of food total at any meal.
  5. my shoulder pain lasted 7 or 8 days. continue to take your meds to help with pain and move your arm or use a heating pad if it helps. you should be taking liquid (or very very crushed pills). always ask your dr with any concerns. i promise it does get better
  6. first off you are still newly banded. please focus on getting healthy. people that eat everything and anything at night will not lose weight. and you do not want to follow in those foot steps. you should only eat at most, a cup of food at any one time. you wont get restriction until several fills so you will have to eat smart, portion control and food choices that are healthy. in the morning i feel tighter and do drink a shake for breakfast. i have a small breakfast to hold me over until lunch.
  7. i buy whey isolate extreme from walmart many flavors (chocolate, Cookies and creme etc) 30 grams Protein per scoop + protein from the ff milk you use. is good w/water also i freeze mine in the a.m. and drink as a slush. just like a milkshake. def helps all the best
  8. i was a diet coke fiend until i started my liquid diet phase at the end of May. havent had one since. i do not miss it. some drink it and some dont. its up to what you surgeon recommends. mine says no. so no it is. havent tried popcorn yet. but i will eventually all the best
  9. hey, that is fantastic, you started over today. you admitted what you realized was wrong. accept it and move on from that. dont regret the past, we cant change it. but you can (and will) change the future. all the best
  10. i had a (test of sorts) with the nutritionist and the mental eval doctor was kinda tough w/his questions, are you sure you will comply with the liquids diets and instructions. i wonder how many just answered yes to get the approval? if so, they only hurt themselves. just my 3 cents.
  11. just keep drinking (sf popsicles saved me). i drained low sodium chicken noodle Soup and mixed w/water (to make my broth). you are doing great. stay w/it.
  12. I needed to read this today
  13. had surgery on a wed and the following fri, i was back to normal and ready to go back to work (i took 8 days).
  14. well, since you are sorta (eating) too much at one time. (small sips, small drinks, small small small). keep up with the Protein. that will keep you full and will need to be your BFF.
  15. well, can you have your parents take you and then hub can take you home and spend time with you taking care of you? i had to stay overnight also and i sure was glad he was there the day i went home. all the best.
  16. also, just because you can eat it (or a large amount) doesnt mean you should either. you have to (help) the band. jean, you are doing great. keep it up
  17. itching means (healing). not to worry if you feel slight pain (or tender) that could mean the scar tissue is forming around the port site. i am sure you are fine. but any concerns, call your doctor and ask them and let it ease your mind. all the best.
  18. not sure if you are on (liquids as i think you most likely should be). the only time i felt that way is if i was not drinking enough or getting enough Fluid intake. i think you should drink more (popsicles etc). i think that would help. but call your dr if that makes you more comfortable. you do not want to be vomiting so early after surgery. you are healing. (ask them for some anti nauseau meds, that will help).
  19. i agree with you jean. i also think that some may believe the band will do all the work (and the weight will continue to come off as it did during the liquid stages). not gonna happen. if you eat like you did before surgery, you are only hurting yourself. if you overeat more than the recommended amount, you are only hurting yourself. this is not a will power situation. this is a want to situation.
  20. *Im eating stuff I shouldnt eating to much* i am a newbie bander so the only thing i can say is, just because you can eat (alot) doesnt mean you should. also, if you know you shouldnt be eating something (that is high fat/high calorie) then stop doing that. go back to the basics. Protein first. veggies and fruit and in small amounts. And drink alot of Fluid (water). i cant speak to the fills per pinks post but that could also help. I think right now, ok so you gained and you are in a rut..ok...ok....lets not beat ourselves to a pulp. you cant changed yesterday, but you can change today. make those small changes and make yourself well. YOU can do this.
  21. i am very surprised that you are not on liquids. my first week after surgery i was on clears and the 2nd week full liquids. just be careful with what you (eat) too soon.
  22. nice and you will think its a milkshake
  23. yes, i freeze mine every day. and if its frozen just let it thaw most of the time i take it out at slushy stage.
  24. yes. yes it does. but please note any surgery can have complications. i have this surgery as i was too frightened to cut my insides. once that is done, there is no going back. the lap band can be took out if it needs to be. that being said, things can happen with any surgery. i had more pain when i had my gallbladder took out. you get this surgery, you lose weight, feel better and hopefully control your health. seems kinda easy to me that decision to make. do this for you and you alone. if you do, not only will your daughter she her mother get well, but also, this may encourage your mom and sister
