  1. well said! we have so much in common...my dad passed away in 2005 from a heart attack. he suffered from diabetes as well and had a stroke in 1999 that left him paralyzed but cognizant...he was 51 when he had the first stroke and and 56 when he died... i am excited that you are one step closer to a healthier you:)

  2. wow! i am saddened that you had to have this experience, but you know "haters gon' hate" (!) so let them. i work in a space that is dominated by women and i knew that telling certain people would ensure that the whole office knew so i wouldn't have to tell my story a million times. i know we are all different, but i am now proud of the fact that i had the courage and smarts (pat, pat) to take advantage of my employer paying for me and my husband to have this procedure! i'm telling everyone now and it feels good. i have been holding this secret hostage since i began the process last summer. i still haven't told my mom, but like others have already expressed it may be a good idea to consider sharing the news with your husband in case complications arise. you must be doing a lot of things right if those office haters are willing to go to any length to make you feel and look bad. head up! keep plugging away:)

  3. hello! i am feeling wonderful!!! in fact, today i plan not to use the liquid percocet that i was prescribed and just use the liquid tylenol. remember that everyone's experience is different! i do have some slight discomfort at times and that is mainly from being in the bed too long so i found a comfy chair in my house and was in it most of yesterday. the most pain i feel is around where i think my port must be and some ocassional gas pains...not to gross you out but i have been able to pass gas now since yesterday and it is a wonderful feeling (awww the little things)!! I am so excited for both of you and want you to know that i was also scared out of my mind!!! now that it is over i am so grateful and able to feel excited. i wish you both the best of luck...lets keep in touch:)

p.s. i had the strategy of getting all doses of pain meds while i was in the hospital! this kept me pain free...and i wasn't a zombie either...i have a youtube account where i have been making small videos along the way! you can see me in action...im phatkatblue there also!

  4. be proud of your decision to better health...i just had my surgery on wednesday and was questioning my decision up until the end. i am 5'2 1/2 and at my heaviest i was 250 lbs. when my primary dr told me this morning that i could stop my diabetes meds due to the surgery which has lowered my glucose levels i knew i made the right decision:) all the best to you...
