I'm so sorry, I went through very similar years ago after another abdominal surgery. Hang in there, it does get better! ((hugs))

You need to remember the band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything, so being able to eat at as much as you could before isn't a sign the band isn't working. It's up to you to control your portions, not the band. Here's a great link to explain it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html
As far as what you're eating, I would suggest seeing a nutritionist to establish an eating plan and calorie budget that works for you. As stated in the post above this one, eating too little is actually a really common mistake. A nutritionist can help you figure out if you're eating too much or possibly not enough.

You need to tell you doctor everything immediately. Not telling him, or only giving partial information intentionally, is extremely irresponsible. You're putting yourself at major risk. Fills don't result in losing weight, burning more calories than you consume does. When you're too tight (which it sounds like you are), not only are you more likely to gain weight but you're at very high risk for a slip, too.

This is what I posted on a thread about this today.
No one cares if someone can't spell well or makes a lot of errors.
However, when I read a post that honestly looks like it was written in secret code by a drunk 3rd grader and makes zero sense because it's written *that* badly, I totally ignore it. If I need a secret decoder ring just to make sense of it, I won't deal with it.

That is just too cool! And widen the doorway, you earned the big head, hold it high and proud!

EXCELLENT post!! I hope others read this, especially those still considering the band!!

I know scheduling is rough, but you need to make going back to your doctor for a slight unfill a priority. A band too tight can lead to slips and worse complications. You definitely don't want to mess with that.

Excellent post and wise words of advice. I hope others read it.

It sounds to me like you're too tight. Ironically, people who are too tight usually end up losing faster and more efficiently after a small unfill because they're able to eat healthy foods in a realistic manner again.
Your husband is right, you need to see your WLS. Avoiding the situation is only going to make things worse.

You need to call your doctor immediately. Vomiting so soon after surgery is not good and can be dangerous.
-
You are too tight and that is definitely nothing to "grin and bare". You're putting yourself at real risk for a slip by being too tight. Call your surgeon for a slight unfill as soon as possible.

I don't see how the Lap Band could cause IBS or any other bowel issue, however, I can see how what you eat because of the Lap Band band could irritate it.
This is a shot in the dark, but have you been tested for Crohn's Disease?
Bental is very hit or miss for most people btw. Sometimes it works others not at all. (I have IBS, too)

I'm watching it right now, honestly it's awesome. Lisa is saying how it's a tool, and how if she doesn't deal with her emotional stuff she'll gain it back. Dr. Oz even said he thought bariatric surgeries were the most under-used out there. They're both actually very informative. I'm rather impressed!

Granted this is just my personal experience, Phentermine isn't good. As you stated, you will lose when on it, but either you stop taking it and gain it back or your body grows immune to it and you still gain it back. Diet pills are very much a temporary fix. I would stay far away from them. Again, just my opinion.

The above posters advice to journal what eat is what I'd do, too. Also, are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal? Unfortunately just because you're eating salads often doesn't necessarily mean you're eating healthy or low calorie. It's all entirely dependent on what you put in the salad.

Even though I'm eating much less food, my grocery bill has gone up. It's far more expensive to buy fresh fruit, veggies and chicken than it is to buy mac & cheese, little debbies, and spaghettios.

Having the excess skin removed is usually the only permanent solution. You may want to go into your doctor to make sure you don't have a yeast infection forming between the skin folds. It's very common with extra skin issues.
-
If you can't get any solid food down, even when taking small bites and chewing it til mush, you're too tight. Being too tight and risking a slip isn't even remotely worth the extra weight loss. Call your doc.

Hang in there, Jim. You're doing so well already! I know it's frustrating but don't let that frustration diminish how amazingly far you've come already. I really think the calorie increase will help you a lot, too.

Excellent!! You will be so happy once you've quit. The quitting itself sucks, but oh my gosh, I love being a non-smoker. You don't realize how awful smokers smell until you quit. Now, I can't stand even standing near a smoker, let alone by someone actually smoking.
I went out bought myself new perfume and Bath & Body Works goodies as rewards for quitting smoking.
Plus, you'll feel better. You're getting the band now soon to be an ex smoker, just think how wonderfully healthy your body is going to be!!! It's exciting!!

Jim, I've never been in your shoes but my heart positively breaks for you.
To the inconsiderate people that would ask personal information such as "when are you going to have kids?" I'd say "I don't know, when are you going to learn not be an inappropriate, nosy idiot?"
((HUGS))
