Oh My Stars, I Can't Eat Anything!!!

Hey everyone,

I had my band for four months now and have been doing very well on my journey. Last tuesday I had my 3rd fill. Since then, I have not been able to eat anything! Cold and hot liquids don't bother me much,,,, as long as I'm drinking ssssslllllllooooooowwwwwww. But if I try to eat mushy foods, after the first 1/2 teaspoon, I feel stuck. Stuck, stuck, stuck. And it takes at least an hour to feel ok again. I'm having hiccups and pb,,, if pb's are that mucus stuff that comes up when I feel stuck. Anyhow,,, should I have my surgeon take some liquids out or should I grin and bare it. I actually don't feel hungry, I think I'm head hungry.

My last question is,,,, is my understanding of pb correct?

Good evening,

I would call the doctor as soon as you can. I don't think that sounds normal. Good luck.

you are def showing signs of being too tight

if you cant eat, that is not good

i would suggest going and getting a slight unfill

Your a little tight, I would suggest you tell your doctor if you are still unable to eat solids by Monday. If you can drink liquids please try some protein shakes even if you have to thin them out a little more so you get some nutrition. Do not grin and bare it! The purpose of the band is not to restrict you from eating, it is to help you learn portion control and curb the normal hunger feeling that goes along with cuting back you calorie intake. If you leave the band too tight and continue to PB and reflux you can damage your band and your health.

You are too tight and that is definitely nothing to "grin and bare". You're putting yourself at real risk for a slip by being too tight. Call your surgeon for a slight unfill as soon as possible.

You are too tight, get an unfill. You can slip its not worth it. Seek medical attention immediately. Good luck.

I know my doc has told me he or his partner is available 24 hours and will meet me at the office at anytime if I get restricted. I work for docs and someone should always be on call for the clinic... it's your health, don't be afraid to call him for advice.

I have always been told to contact the Dr office right away if you have problems after the fill and they say it only gets worse.

Thank u to everyone that gave me advice. I was able to eat mushy foods today without getting stuck at all. I'm still going to contact my dr in the am, just to let him know what's been going on and follow his direction to the tee! I am soooo glad that I have the support of my fellow bandsters because it just feels like I am so alone in this journey at times. Hagn everyone!
