  1. I just ordered some Unjury chicken broth mix. 8 oz has 20 grams of protein, so I'm going to add it to my soups when I can eat "normal" food, or even to the cream soups I can have now. I tried it in the hospital when I had NO interest in anything, and I thought it was tasty then, so I figure it would be great now. It'll be a nice change from the drinks when I have a low protein day. See if you can order samples. Just a suggestion.
  2. That's what I was gonna say!! hahaha
  3. Yaaaaayyyyyy for you!!!!!!!
  4. WHOA HOT MAMA ROCKIN' THAT RED DRESS!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!
  5. Welcome! Wishing you all the best!
  6. Oh, I definitely had those freak out moments. I have a husband and three boys that love and count on me. I prayed like a fiend for weeks before the surgery. I know my life is in God's hands and that was my comfort. Whatever the outcome was to be for the best. I also took great comfort in my surgeon's complication rate, which is extraordinarily low. It IS good to have your head rooted in reality though. I think you're having very normal feelings. I pray all goes perfectly for you!
  7. Hey, if you can drink water a little quickly, that's not such a bad thing, as you need to stay hydrated! However, I will echo the above sentiments and tell you to stay far away from your slider foods. They go down like buttah, and you will find yourself wanting them more than your proteins and veg and other good stuff. Please remember to focus on your lifestyle more than how much you weigh. Get full on the right foods and don't drink 1/2 hour before or after you eat. I know you know that, but might need a reminder. (?) Please take care of yourself. This is no small step you've taken to be healthy. Give it the proper respect. It's a tool that YOU have to use properly. Godspeed in your journey.
  8. OK, this sounds counterintuitive, but are you walking a little bit once an hour? I know it's probably the LAST thing you want to do, but I felt really lousy around the same day you are, and whenever I would be really good about taking a hallway lap, I felt a little better and then I'd reward myself with a nap! Those who are really good about the walking early on report feeling great two weeks out. It really speeds the healing. I hope something helps for you.
  9. HAve you been told your iron is low? That has the same effect.
  10. OH OH OH!!!! I was so happy when my surgeon's P.A. told me that there is no 'ideal weight' any more that "they" have done away with it!!! Yaaaay!!! WEEEEE get do decide where we should be! He just wants be out of the 'obese' BMI zone. Hey, I can handle that!
  11. Yes, we spent the night in Lubbock. We stayed 3 extra days because i was just not ready, so we made a 2 day trip out of the return. No one does the sleeve in Abq, so to Dallas i went! Y'all have the best!
  12. No co-morbidities before surgery, but I'm 42 and at 200 lbs. overweight, that can turn on a dime. I had to get out of this danger zone, and it wasn't happening under MY power, so Here I am post-op a week and a half and doing well, healing well, and I can see the good changes coming, thank you Jesus!!
  13. Heehee...the subject of the picture is on the left
  14. And there ya are standing out there with short sleeves on!!! I bet you weren't even cold huh! Wow, Yukon, huh?!? Well, you're doing just GREAT!!
  15. My doc's definition of "full liquids" is protein shakes, and STRAINED cream soups and skim milk, in addition to the clear liquids which I was on for a full 7 days. He's a little more conservative than some though. I happily comply as I have one chance to heal, so, slow if fiiiine with me. It seems every doc is different though.
  16. Everything is going VERY well! I'm being a good girl, and walking and drinking and taking in Protein. I've been fighting this hernia repair pain, so I'm still gulping down the vicodin, but that's ok. It will pass. The surgeon assured me it's problem. My one week checkup was great and passed leak test #2, then came home to Albuquerque from Dallas 2 days ago. Very glad to be home to my honey! I've lost 25# already from the start of the liquid diet until now which I'm really pleased with. I'm not going to check again for a while though! The hard thing to do is trying to rest and not dive right back into wife/mommy mode. Trying to let the family help me this week. I like it! Thanks for asking!! How are you?
  17. Good to know...good to know.... I think everyone's experiences are just so vastly different, so I'm just glad to hear a couple similar cases.
  18. My surgeon made this statement to me: "People spend their lifetimes worrying about their weight but not their lifestyle." That is so very true and very wise. Keep your focus on a healthy lifestyle and don't worry about numbers and dates and goals, but focus on how you're moving and eating healthy. When you're not eating right, your body tells you about it, even if you're not staring down a calorie count. You seem to have a handle on your own body's signals. (some of us need a little tracking to get the hang of it!) Before surgery, we've all been told: "OH, just eat right and exercise and you'll lose weight." (That person then walks away with a black eye ) It's finally true for us!!! HOORAAAYY!!!! Don't put any new monkeys on your back.
  19. That stomach is as FLAT as the horizon!!!! WTG!!!
  20. My doc allows ONE cup of coffee a day once you get home, or maybe after a couple weeks. I use Truvia (made from stevia) and SO Coconut milk coffee creamer. It's not dairy, and it's not fake nasty stuff either. Coconut products are very good for you, and this is low in everything we need to stay low in. I find it at Sunflower market here in Albuquerque.
  21. WOW!!! YOu look great!!! You're so itty bitty!! (hey if I get down to your STARTING weight, I'll be pretty thrilled!! LOL )
  22. Yes, they said the location of the pain is where the hernia repair took place. I do think I'm getting intermittent gas bubbles near the area that aren't' helping any!
