  1. Oh, honey, don't compare yourself to anyone else. I lost all that right at the beginning, and I've been stalled ever since, but I started out at a very high BMI (55), so I am supposed to lose more at first kind of quickly. (Statistically speaking.) I have also been going to the gym regularly since long before the surgery, and am trying to be even better about it. I think you are doing just fine. Have your half of a banana, and if you are living a fairly normal life and still losing weight (even if it's not as quickly as you might expect), and not counting anything, then don't fix it. Of course, they do want us to at least do some walking every day if possible. Just start small. You keep it up!! Good job!!
  2. Some people have problems with plain water even a few months after surgery, and that's normal, but it does go away. I'm just getting to where it's enjoyable to drink water again, and I'm at....almost 7 weeks.
  3. HAHAHA!! Yes. My poor husband gets the brunt of all my blathering about life before, during and after surgery. I have elected to only tell close family and 3 friends. SO...you can imagine, he gets all the 24/7 "blah blah blah blah BLAH" about every hiccup, gurgle, bite I take and ounce I lose!
  4. I do not recognize any of these symptoms. Have you taken your temperature? Does your surgeon have an answering service that will get someone to give you a call tonight??
  5. One good way to get protein in if you can't stomach a lot of food yet: Unjury chicken broth flavored protein. Have a couple cups of that each day and you'll be doing pretty well adding in what you CAN eat. It's not bad at all. It's about 20 or 21 grams per scoop in 8 oz of water. OH! and that would count toward your liquid intake!
  6. Wear a watch and after you swallow, wait at least a full minute before you take another bite. At least until you get used to your timing. Another good thing to do is use a baby spoon and fork set. Helps you take smaller bites. p.s.... you live in my FAVORITE place on earth!
  7. No fruit is inherently "bad." It's fruit. It's perfect food. Here's the big "BUT"- (don't we all have a big but?? hahaha) Some fruits have more sugars or starches than others and bananas are one of them. It depends on your goals for your diet. Some people count mostly carbs and would want to stay away from bananas. Some people are more concerned with fat, in which case, bananas are fat free. Some count calories, and some count all three! Look up the nutritional values for bananas and see how much of one fits in with what you are trying to do. I know that's not a clear answer, but I don't know what you're counting. Side note about bananas: If there is even a tiny bit of green on the stem, then the banana is still pure starch. It's like eating a potato. When it's all yellow then it's turned to fruit sugars. Just FYI. I hope any of this helps.
  8. Ok...(whew...) Here it goes: Are you sitting down??? I like Vienna Sausages and have been madly craving them. So I ate them.
  9. Hey it's Friday again....are we doing this??
  10. Oh my. You didn't detox before surgery? Ouch. It could very well be. Keep track of your temperature and stay on the fluids. Try to walk. Other than that, caffeine withdrawal has to be waited out. :s
  11. Well, after looking up a kg to lbs converter (blush)...I can see you've done very well!! I hope the sleeve is at least making the battle easier. I think we will all fight it to some degree or other probably the rest of our lives. Keep up the good fight.
  12. OOooohhh, I'm so jealous of your vitamix!! I've always wanted one. Do they still cost $500??
  13. Haven't been faced with this yet, but I think I'd find a Teryaki Chicken bowl, and start at the top with the chicken and work my way to the veggies, and I'd be full before I ever reached the rice. Or just order it without the rice. Ya. That sounds good.
  14. My surgeon is awesome and has one of the lowest leak rates I found. He has a .01% leak rate where the national average is 1%. He name is Dr. David Kim in Colleyville, Texas. His rate is $12,300 and I was self pay also, but I did not care how much it cost. I wanted the best. So... there's one for ya. http://www.drdkim.net/
  15. Nah...I was taking in liquid pretty well at 4 days. I'd hazard a guess that you're hungry 'cause you can't eat! heehee... That will get better when you can have some protein shakes and cream soups and such. With each stage that gnawing hunger will lessen. It's a process.
  16. OH cheese AND CRACKERS!!! I THOUGHT THAT SAID 40 OZ!! hahahaha I was not allowed to chew anything for weeks!! Be careful there
  17. Hee hee!! I'm with Rootman! But my doc said 2 weeks if I feel up to it, and be "careful." (Especially don't go gettin' knocked up! ) LOL
  18. I was told to use ground bison because it's easier to digest. So far so good! You can make some meatballs out of it and freeze them separately before you bag them up. ?
  19. I made this for dinner tonight with several small portions left over! It's awesome. This dish doesn't know if it wants to be "faux-sagna" or crustless skillet pizza, so I added a few sliced olives at the last minute. GOOOOD stuff!! Thanks for the recipe!
  20. I was told NO MORE sodas. I was a diet coke addict, but will happily comply. I said coffee is a deal breaker fortunately I did not have to give that up!
  21. Uhhhhhh.....HELLO?!? We NEED pictures please!!! You are morally obliged to post before and afters!!
  22. YAY!!! Congratulations!!!
  23. I feel your pain. I'm 6 1/2 weeks out and I lost 40 like...right away! Then I stalled for 3 weeks then lost 4 more. Now I'm bouncing that 4 lbs up and down every other day. I'm about to SCREAM!!! I just want to start seeing some more downward movement. I feel the same way you do about being at that point where I've gotten myself before with "dieting" and then getting frustrated and giving up. I think if the scales start moving again, I will have the determination to go on. We can't let ourselves get taken down by the old thought patterns of "Well this is me, I might as well get used to it. Where's a donut???" I'm fighting it hard. God help us.
