Target Doesn't Want My Money! A Rant.
So, I'm out getting my son some flip flops at Target (because I know they ALWAYS put them out in the winter for some weird reason!!) and I decided to pick up some workout shorts, because it's warming up here in the high desert and the Y has sealed windows, and they're cheap with the air conditioner. SO...I go to ask the lady at the fitting room-- "I notice they've redone the store- where has the plus sized clothing moved to I can't seem to find it." She says, "I'll come show you. Right here (pointing to a TEENY TINY rack) is some and one rack over here (small also) and over on that back wall there is a section." (the back wall section was approximately 4 feet long.) Mind you there is a SEA of clothing in this store. ACRES!! I guess all of their Isaac Mizrahis and fancy boy execs have decided that we are far too repulsive to spend money in their stores!!! Well guess what????? If I'm not good enough to waste space in their store buying plus sizes, I surely won't inconvenience them when it's time to buy AAALLLLLL new clothes!!!!! SO THERE!!! THIS IS FOR THEM: :P :P :P

Need Positive Feedback On This Procedure. Some Reviews Are Very Scary!
Yep. That is so true. One can be very malnourished with a whole stomach if only junk is eaten. Been there, done that!

Need Positive Feedback On This Procedure. Some Reviews Are Very Scary!
There are no issues with the sleeve causing malnutrition. The RNY procedure does work on a malabsorbtive (i can't spell that word) basis, as much of the small intestine is bypassed. The rare complications I've read about with the sleeve have to do with staple line leakage from a stapler misfire (RARE) or if someone is converting from band to sleeve, there can be problems from the damage that the band caused. Sometimes scar tissue or erosion make the staple line leak. We have to take Vitamins, but not NEARLY to the degree that RNY patients have to. I really had a hard time finding ANY bad press about the sleeve. The national average of percentage of leaks is 1%. My doctor's average is .01%, so I was very very confident about the whole thing. I did not want a foreign object in my body, and I did not want my innards cut and reconfigured, so this procedure was perfect for me. Simple, clean, minimal risk. I couldn't be happier. There are not really any long term studies, so to speak, as this has been a stand alone procedure for a lot less time than the RNY, DS and the band. I think maybe....10 years-ish? It's been done for many years as part of a Duodenal Switch and in other rare instances. Check my information, as I don't want to give you any wrong data. I'm just pulling this stuff out of the side of my brain here....

The Last Supper
I called in November to make my surgery appointment for February 13th. Before I got to the pre op diet, I gained 10 pounds. I KNEW certain foods would haunt me if I didn't have it ONE more time. Krispy Kreme, a Mc D's double cheese (a few of those over that time), fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, Rio Grande Mud Pie from Flying Star (here in ABQ.) to name a few. I only have ONE thing haunting me. I saw a multi layered red velvet cake just OOOOZING with cream cheese frosting (one of my FAVORITES) sitting in the case at Flying Star, and I was going to go back and get some and never did. I still see it sitting there looking oozy and delicious. I think I made myself sick a couple of times during this sorta manic phase I went through. It was not the best thing I could have done, but i don't completely regret it because it made me see the need for change even more so. I don't even think about those foods anymore, really. (just that red velvet! Even that is not a big deal though) Talk about your food funerals. SHEESH. I really outdid myself!! I can't say "NO, DON'T do it!" Because you have to do what you have to do to make yourself ok with this. I lost 15 lbs on the pre op liquids, but only 5 was "new" loss. Oh well. I'm on the downhill now, and life is new again!

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words
Well, I have to admit that ALOT of the time I mix these words up. But ALLOT of the time I don't. Sometimes I even forget the space in A LOT, but not very often. Because, as you know, they are two words. But ALOT of people don't remember that.

Stall Please Help :-(
My stall just broke yesterday after 2 1/2 weeks! I thought I was going to go insane! It IS perfectly normal. Your body is going through a normal process. Search for "stalls" on this website, and you will find some good explanations. Just keep doing what you're doing and try to stay off the scale for a while. i know it's hard. You are still losing, and you will see it in your clothes, face and waistline if not on the scales. I now fit into a pair of pants I did not fit into 2 weeks ago, and that happened during the stall, so have heart!

Issues With Splenda
Truvia is safe. It's made from stevia. It's pretty good too. Might take some getting used to, but worth it. (straight stevia is pretty gross )

I'm Addicted To Watermelons!
Just remember kids...any fruit or fruit juice that has been boiled or pasteurized is DEAD, and is PURE sugar! Fresh fruit is healthy and good!! The juicier the fruit, the better for you. And berries are the best. I bet you've got some CRAZY good watermelon in India!!!

Mommies Out There... Keeping Healthy Food Awareness With Your Kids
I am amazed when I get my food- I weigh it on my little food scale- at how much 4 oz. can look like! I think it is actually a reasonable, healthy looking amount of food. Restaurants and t.v. and our ever growing appetites for....everything available to us now....have convinced us that we need to fill a large dinner plate to look like we're having an appropriate amount of food. I don't think your eating habits will, in any way, scar your child. I think it will impart self control. I have three sons, two of which are having some weight control issues, and I'm trying soooo hard not to put the trips on them that were put on me as a kid. They are a little older and they are boys, so they're not as concerned about body image, but they know why I'm eating this way, and I'm trying to encourage them to make healthier choices, eat slower, take smaller bites..etc. I just hope they're listening!

Oooooooooohhhhh....can't help you sister. I loooooove watermelon! I think there are worse things you can eat. Fresh fruit is always healthy eaten on an empty stomach. It cleanses your cells. yummmmm

Encouragement Needed Please!
The hard part is over. Just keep on drinking, keep on walking, keep on sucking on your little breathing toy they gave you...It will be a distant memory soon enough. And of course you feel hungry. Your stomach is empty, silly!!! Many people report the buyer's remorse. You will not feel that way when you start melting awaaaaayyyyyy........

Best Nsv Ever! I'm A Finalist!
COOL!! On the voting site, does your "place" have anything to do with how high up on the page your picture is? for a while it was at the top. It goes up and down. If it's at the top, does that mean you're winning?

Very good, thorough answer from Wheetsin. I was going to mention the clearing of the digestive tract as well. I did not have quite the detailed explanation though.
