  1. Aww man!! Those things are a bear. That was the hardest part of my healing. :s Hope all goes well!
  2. Wow...that's a good thing to keep in mind!
  3. Don't freak out on your first week. I wasn't even allowed protein until after day 7. All clear liquids, and with good reason. Take the pain meds. No points for leftovers. Be patient with your body as it heals. Liquids, walking and using the little breather thingie are the three most important things you can do to help it along. The more you stick to a once an hour walking schedule, the better you will feel at the end of two weeks.
  4. What? Huh? Who? What happened??
  5. DORRIE!!!!! WE FINALLY GOT A PICTURE OF YOU!!!!
  6. This is what I've got going on. It might not look like much, but when i was younger, you could not see my scalp at ALL, my hair was so thick. It shouldn't get much worse....
  7. I'm right at 4 months and my hair is coming out by the handful. I think it may be slowing down. I'm hoping it will start the regrowth process now. I went through this before when I started menopause a few years ago (really young for menopause:P ) and it DID grow back. Here we go again!
  8. HEY...you're out of the fog and posting! Good job. I'm going to keep nagging you....are you walking and breathing?? Sipping out of your mini cups? LOL
  9. In that amount of time I went from a loose 30w to a tight 22w...if that helps any?
  10. I've heard that is normal for a little while. I did not get that, but I've heard of many who have. it should go away with time.
  11. I didn't tell anyone either. Only a select few. I just felt the desire to keep this to myself. I didn't want all the fanfare and spectacle. Now, however, when someone notices my loss and wants to know how I did it, I tell them I had surgery. I have no problem with it now. Before was a different story. That's not being a jerk.
  12. I dunno...40 or 50? I think close to 50. But I started really high too. By then you should be able to eat a "little bit" of almost anything that is within your docs orders. (high protein, low fat, etc...) Just have fun on your cruise and try not to focus too much on all the food. Have one bite of dessert so you don't feel so left out. Just leave it at that. 12 weeks should be beyond all the break in phases.
  13. Refusing to eat is not conducive to living. You don't wanna get dead!! K?? Your loss may take a temporary hit, but that is your body readjusting. Don't worry about it. Eat the food. Drink the water. Do the exercise and you will lose the weight. Sleevie makes it easier to do that. Do not refuse to eat. You need protein and calories and such to allow your heart to beat!! Be good girl.
  14. Check out this thread about Super Bowl food ideas. There were lots of really good suggestions! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/30426-superbowl/page__hl__%20super%20%20bowl
  15. That's great news! Did Ed McMahon stop by? (am I dating myself?? )
  16. Let me know who you all pick for surgeons and how things are going!
  17. Ok...so in a year, I might have made some pretty decent headway. I can dig that.
  18. Right! That's just his preference. After surgery....the Protein world is your oyster!
  19. The reason Dr. Kim gives only two choices is for consistency. He used to allow choices but got too many varied results. He found these two to be the best for the results he wanted for the surgery. He is a perfectionist from what I can see and is very concerned for our safety. There is a reason and it's definitely not money. He gets plenty of that just being a surgeon. I asked the same question.
  20. Ya, I'm with Dr. Kim too. The vanilla ones taste MUCH better than the chocolate. Our only option is BE and Optifast. Make use of the broth option. That will cut the monotony of the shakes. Also, you can add sugar free Torani syrups or sugar free Jello that has been mixed with a little bit of hot Water. (If you add the powder it get clumpy)
  21. I forgot to check in yesterday, but my goal is 11 lbs, and upping my workouts to 5/week. I've been to the gym every day this week and I've lost 3 pounds. Yay!
  22. BWAAAHAHAHAHAHHA!!! "Sausage wallet!!" (choke choke sputter!!)
  23. I'm just trying to get a general idea of how long it will take me to lose (not "loose" ) 200 lbs. I know everyone is different, but just generally speaking....
  24. Anyone watch SCRUBS? How about "bajingo??" hahahaha..... no?
