Did Anyone Just Go And Get Your Surgery And Talk To Your Md After?
YUP. And he couldn't have been more thrilled. The stats he goes by say that once a person has a BMI of over 40, they are unlikely to lose and keep the weight off permanently without surgical intervention. He is keeping close tabs on me, because he has also seen many WLS failures. Lord Help Me!!

What The Heck!
When you're in the stages of blender foods and soft foods, you really can hold a little more because the runnier the texture, the more quickly it goes through (that's why no drinking with food). When you start to eat more solid foods like chicken or tuna- BAM. You're full right now. Is this what you've experienced? Is it the more solid foods suddenly making you more full?

What Do You Do With Your Nose Piercing?
I have my nips pierced, and they were only 3 months along at the time of my surgery. I had my piercer replace them with tigon. It's a clear rubbery/plastic-y place holder, basically, that is approved to have in place during surgery (medical grade tubing). They had no problem with it, as long as there was no metal. the tigon tube is held in place by two O rings on either side of the piercing. It's not pretty, but gets the job done and saves your piercing.

Why Does The Elliptical Kick My Butt?
I do the elliptical 5 days a week now. Told my husband I'm an "addictical." I'd love to start riding a bike again but I have to wait until I'm lighter. Last time I tried to ride one I thought the tires were flat. No. It was just me mashing the poor thing into the pavement. :/

Just Starting (Part 2)
You are on the right track with reading all you can. Google stuff, watch you tube videos, read on here as much as you can. There are gobs of information you can take in. On this site, there is an FAQ post that you should look into as well. I too, would like to get to 140, but would be thrilled forever if I got below 200 again! I KNOW we can reach our goal!! It's a long road and a lot of work, but this time....you will get results for your efforts. Not to be discouraging, but realistic: If you tried to eat like this without the surgery?? You'd kill someone before the day is out. At least I would, that's for sure. I think it's a decision you will be happy about. A little scary to think about at first, but it's awesome!

Vsg And Coffee
That was one of the first questions I asked of my surgeon when starting research. He said by the time i get home, i could have one cup of regular coffee per day. The first month I was only able to take a few sips before I was done. Now I suck my one cup down like nuttin'!! It does not bother my stomach at all since i am eating good food with no sugars or fats. Sugar and fat is what always irritated my reflux all the years i've had stomach troubles. the coffee on top of that just compounded the issue. Oh, and the sodas. Now that all the "poopoo" is cut out of my diet, coffee is no trouble at all. And surgeon approved!

I Am Terrified Of Losing My Hair!
I'm shedding like a lab in early summer!! I do know that it will grow back, as this already happened to me once at the onset of menopause. It did grow back then, so i'm confident it will this time too. Totally worth it.

Scared To Eat
Hey we're sleeve twins!! (2/13/12) I find that a lot of fears come from the "unknown" elements of something. I got pretty wrapped around the axle about everything i was taking in. I wanted to log the air particles i was breathing. My Fitness Pal has been a great tool for seeing that what I'm taking in is not as big and bad as it feels sometimes. At first it helped me become obsessive about food logging, but now Im using it to my benefit. It's a good look at reality, whichever side of reality you have trouble with. I keep thinking I'm over eating or not getting enough Protein, or not exercising enough, but when I enter it all in to MFP, my mind can rest knowing I'm on track. I don't know if that helps at all....

How To Have A "good" Food Funeral - Guilt-Free!
Well...I was really really bad. My doc requires a two week liquid diet, so beforehand I went hog wild, so to speak!! Krispy Kreme, Mc Donald's, Arby's, favorite restaurants, favorite Desserts... the list is long and fat and sugar laden. Do I regret it? Not for even a second. Should I have done it? Probably not, because I could be down 10 extra pounds that I had to get rid of first. BUT...I know me. I would have been pining away at the things I loved that I wanted to taste one last time before I changed my habits and my life. My future may even include "one bite" of some of those things down the road in maintenance land. Those items do not haunt me, and I don't even really care about them anymore. (oddly enough, some of those things don't taste the same anymore). That said- it's a brilliant plan you've laid out and VERY good advice. No time like the present to start changing one's attitude about food. It's hard to do pre op, but it gets TONS easier post op. I wholeheartedly agree about the soda thing. Ditch them now and never pick them up again. (even aside from the debate about sleeve stretching, they are full of poison and NO one needs them.) Good thoughts Patrick!! Keep 'em coming!!

Any Techniques For Minimizing Leaks?
Ha!! My first thought when I saw the question was..."pick a gooooood surgeon!!" Then I thought it'd sound smart alec-y. But seriously. Research the surgeons and get their leak rates, and talk to their patients. (there's a good mix on here!) Other than that: FOLLOW the post op diet TO THE letter!! Can't stress that enough. The technicalities of surgical procedures would best be gone over with a surgeon. I think they all do generally the same thing, but might have slight differences.

I Am Flat Out Hungry & It Sucks!
I went through that too folks. For a good two months, I was ravenously hungry. When they take out the large part of the stomach, that also removes most of the Grehlin (hunger hormone) producing center. Hormones are coursing all through your system, so when the production stops, it will take some time to get it all out of the system. Right at two months, I quit having trouble with that. Now and then I might have one day when I can't seem to stop wanting to eat, but it's not too often. Even then, a handful of something fills me up. Hang in there.

Drinking Before, After And During Meals?
- Bariessential Shakes Make Me Sick
Those are perfect AFTER surgery. I don't think dr k would approve them for pre op diet though.- Started Soft Foods (Sleeved 5/17)..scared To Eat To Prevent Lbs Loss...
Well I blamed my huge stall on starting solid food so I just wanted to emphasize the need to persevere (trying to be funny but sounded too serious! ) just don't freak out if you stall a little. - Bariessential Shakes Make Me Sick
