Guys, Dr Kim is very conservative with his pre and post op diets but stick to them and I promise you won't regret it. You will heal quickly and well! Do all the walking he suggests and you will feel great really fast!- This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)
NOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOO!!!! A THOUSAND TIMES NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!- Gallbladder Surgery
Yep, worse pain I EVER had was gallbladder attacks (and I've given birth to twins and one boy with a HUGE head!!). Had mine out in '02 and it was MUCH easier than the sleeve surgery IMO. The attacks feel like you're being knifed in the gut right below the sternum. It won't stop until the fat is out of the system. Bethany and Capt. D-- AVOID FATS LIKE DEATH!! This will help prevent further attacks until you can get it fixed!- All The Things
Oh, one more thing..however much you buy...it will be too much. Just sayin'....be prepared for leftovers. I still have a ton of soup cans in my cabinet i will never use. And baby food. Carmex or chapstick. Most people need it directly post op.- All The Things
After surgery, many of us have a temporary "plain water" intolerance. I bought the individual powder packets of G2 and Powerade Zero so I could do my little sips of clear liquids the first week after surgery. (I was not allowed anything but clears for the first week). G2 has a few more calories than the powerade zero, so it felt like i was getting something good with the electrolytes. I still use the powered even now. (I hate drinking water )- Signs Of Dehydration
Ooooooo, ya, you'll be headed straight for about 4 bags of fluids in the ER if you're not careful. If you have trouble with nausea, take the anti nausea stuff the gave you when you left the hospital. (i think most of us are sent home with those.) Do what you have to to be able to drink! And if I'm not mistaken....i think dehydration makes you nauseous...so....vicious cycle......- Forest Park, Dallas Tx June 11
No, but I'll be flying in to Dallas to go to Dr. Kim's office Friday for my 4 month followup!! Woo Hoo! He is excellent and Forest Park Medical Center is very awesome!!- Stalled At 2 Weeks Post-Op.
If you don't use My Fitness Pal, then give it a try. It is very very helpful.- Stalled At 2 Weeks Post-Op.
DO NOT PANIC!! I REPEAT: DO NOT PANIC!!! It's normal. Just keep doing what you're doing. I promise, it will be ok.- How Do You Get Unjury To...
Ya, just DON'T use too hot of water. It gets....chunky. Kinda nasty. But it's very tasty otherwise when you use warm water.- Diet Pills
Good suggestions! Ya, I don't want to do diet pills, don't misunderstand- I just want to jump up my workouts with something non harmful, non addictive....i forgot all about B vitamins, green tea and the like. I love my caffeine too, but trying to be careful...- Diet Pills
Ok, so if anyone is around that originally answered this original post..... I have a question- what if....a person wanted a little extra "boost" just to maximize a workout and get through that "I don't wanna workout today" feeling? Is there something natural one can consume to give you that quick "zing" to get a person moving? As we all know, when you reach a certain weight, there is little desire or energy available to exercise. It's all used up just getting your heart to beat and do normal things. I've lost enough that I'm getting past that, but there are SOME days....... ya know???? I'm not "in a hurry" as such, but am liking the workout. Thoughts? comments? questions? Firing squad?- Diet Pills
OH, we can have caffeine. Just not tons of it. I was cleared for one cup a day by a very conservative surgeon.- 9 Days Post And Haven't Felt Restriction
Creamy, liquidy stuff tends to flow on through faster, and you don't really feel restriction. Now....when you eat a few bites of tuna out of the can....WHOA BABY, you WILL feel restriction!!! (of course you must wait for that;) ) As you progress your diet, you will start feeling the restriction.- No More Spanx
Well see......I didn't even know they MADE spanx in our sizes. I always heard skinny women talk about them and I guess I assumed...because NOTHING I want comes in my size, so i thought i'd have to get smaller to wear them. Well shoot. Shows you how much I go shopping. Now I have loose "stomachy" stuff popping out of my jeans, I might go find some!- Greetings Everyone
Waiting list??? Where do you live?? OH, HI by the way!!- New Here...
Hiiiiiii !!! (waving)- Thoughts On Hair Loss?
OH! I do that too! "They stretched out." Or....the other day, I bought a size 20 Gloria's from costco (I know--Costco fashionista, right??) and when they actually fit me I thought, "well, these are either cut wrong, or their sizes just run really big." No ya dork! You wear a 20!!! SORRY---RABBIT TRAIL!!!- The Beginning Of My New Life Is 7/23/12!
That's great! It WILL be the beginning of your new life! I started at 349 with a BMI of 54 or 55. I did have to do 2 full weeks of liquid diet, but you know what? It's worth the inconvenience. The point of it is to rapidly shrink the liver so it does not get in the way or get damaged by the surgery. If it is not sufficiently smaller, they will just cancel the surgery, or open you up with a full incision. Neither choice is a pleasant thought. It is hard to do for 2 weeks, but keep your eyes on the prize and you will sail through! We're here for you too!- Comment My Doctor Made That I Worry A Little About- Maybe Don't Look At This If Pre-Surgery
LOL...It's not as bad as all that! Sure, I've had better days, but 5 of my 6 incisions did not give me even the slightest bit of pain. Maybe itching, but they didn't hurt. The big one where he took out the stomach was the uncomfortable one. Even that wasn't bad. Ya, I think he WAS just trying to be funny, if badly so...- Thoughts On Hair Loss?
- Ok Everyone, What Did You Buy?
Took the words right out of my mouth Pook!! "TOO MUCH!"- My Story
I didn't reply because for some reason, I didn't see it until now. It's true, your starting weight is not much higher than a goal weight that I would see as acceptable! That said, if a person starts at a size 2, then 190 pounds would feel very horrible. It's like me starting at a 14 and getting up to a 30. It's all relative. I could see why you would want this surgery, and I hope it gets you back down to where you feel healthy and happy!- How Long Does It Last?
Good, good.... - Forest Park, Dallas Tx June 11
