  1. This is so exciting! Happy to hear your doing well! CONGRATS! HUGS!
  2. I always stick to my surgeon's guidelines. I have talked with people that had complications from eating regular foods in the early phases after the procedure. I also believe it helps us excel in our weight loss too. I does bug me when people don't follow rules provided by his/her surgeon and then complain because they have complications as a result. It's like discarding the knowledge and expertise of the surgeon as if they know better. Go figure. I love my success and I followed the guidelines provided by my surgeons office and have had no complications. NONE! Yayyyyyyyy!
  3. That is so exciting! Can't wait to see and hear about the results! You are going to really rock! Even more than you do now.....
  4. I am a year out and can get less than 1300 calories in, I still have restriction and I love it..... But I can also eat a lot more which really scares me. Sliders are the worst, I can eat a lot of them. I can gain weight if I'm not staying on my plan of protein first, veggies, and little starches. I try to avoid the starches. You are doing just fine. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Work on eating only nutritious foods that are basically protein and veggies.
  5. PDXman that is totally awesome..... I had some chorizo with eggs and a slice of bacon for breakfast and dinner I ate about 2 bites of turkey, 4 bites of ham on half of a sourdough roll with butter. I ate the smaller half. I was totally done. For dessert i had a piece of fudge. Today the fudge will be packed up and sent to my neighbors or thrown in the thrash. I can't have it around anymore. Too tempting...... Back on track today and will be walking it off. Enjoy the remainder of this year.
  6. I totally confess that I reverted to past habits before surgery for the Xmas holiday. I ate fudge and grazed for the past 4 days. I am totally avoiding the scale because I don't think I can handle seeing that I gained a lb. Today I am getting back on track........Here goes.......
  7. I failed my Christmas challenge big time. I still weigh 144 lbs and I did a lot of making fudge for Christmas and have eaten it. My addiction to sugar is killing me. LOL....Now it's time to get back on track with healthy eating habits. I have an appointment with my NUT in January so perhaps that will help me get back on track.
  8. Coops ~ Thank you for the Merry Christmas! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas too. Can't wait until you have your TT and boob job! I'm curious as to how much weight comes off from the excess skin.... Feliz Navidad!
  9. Yes, you can get a leak 2 weeks after if your not following your doc's directions. My doc had us do an all liquid diet the first 3 weeks so we wouldn't damage our staple line. The 2nd phase was pureed for 3 3 weeks, 3rd phase was soft food for 3 weeks and then what ever we could tolerate. Just keep your diet very simple for the first 3 weeks with liquids and gradually add some yogurt sf, sf pudding, cottage cheese, ect. Like the previous poster stated, if it does happen, then it can be fixed.....But prevention is the eye word here.
  10. Yayyyyyy! I'm so happy for you! CONGRATS!
  11. I get those when I'm in ketoses. Especially in the early stages of the surgery. You are burning fat when in ketoses.
  12. I'm so happy you have decided to go ahead and have this surgery. This is such life changing and saving procedure. I don't believe that in order to have this surgery, one should have to lose at least 100 lbs. I have lost 79 lbs and am totally excited about it. I would do this again. Just the thought of my A1C for my diabetes being in order is fantastic and my daily blood sugar is also where it needs to be. This is a blessing, no meds, no shots, how great is that? Each and every person on this site have differing opinions which doesn't necessarily make the answer right. When I went in for an endoscopy and the doc said if I had a hole, they would have to do surgery, now that scared me because I don't have hardly enough to lose now. After all my BMI is 23 right now. Of course I didn't have a hole and everything was perfect. In fact, my stomach looked like a skinny italian sausage. LOL. I do love my stomach.....This is your decision and I know that you have evaluated the pro's and con's and what could go wrong as we all have. CONGRATS!
  13. These are just fears. What we fear in our minds, seldom come to reality. Face the fear and do it anyway.....You will be totally excited with the results. and btw, you will learn new eating habits that will help you maintain you hot sexy new body!
  14. This is such a wonderful transformation! Congrats!
  15. Can you email your PCP and ask him to order a blood panel of all your blood values including iron? I did and my PCP ordered them without having to go in. That was the quickest way to get results. If no email, can you call him....Otherwise start taking an iron supplement to be safe. BTW, I have been so cold lately too. My hands are ice cold and my feet a very cold also. I think I heard this last for about 2 years post op. I was very happy during the hot weather.....
  16. Littlebits: Have you tried Pureology shampoo and conditioner. It's full of vitamins and herbs, smells good, and didn't dry my hair out. I liked it better than nioxin. At any rate, nothing really stops the hair loss except time. A typical wls causes people to loose up to 33% of their hair. The good news is that it starts growing back in full force. I take biotin and silica and my hair is growing so fast that i have to have it dyed more often now.... I love it.... except the places I don't want it to grow...
  17. Superstartover ~ congrats on making this life changing decision.... It's about time isn't it? So you have a low BMI.....No big deal....This is still going to be a life style change that is a miracle..... keep us informed as to how your doing...
  18. I highly suggest seeking a qualified therapist to help with these issues........
  19. Wow, I can't believe your eating all that food so soon. I was on liquids for the first 3 weeks and then pureed for 3 weeks, then soft foods for the next 3 weeks. Your stomach is swollen and needs some R&R to get over the trauma. Be careful you don't get a leak in your sleeve......Otherwise, your weight loss is really good....
  20. Can your daughter have surgery before your insurance expires? Hoping the best for you..... It makes me sad to hear this too.
  21. Ok, let's take a deep breath....... Everything will be just fine.. Now, which surgery did you have? The RnY or the sleeve? I know that I had the sleeve and I don't have a pouch, I have a stomach that is still intact but just smaller..... When you get to goal, whether it's before the end of a year or after we just go into maintenance. Which means we follow our NUT direction and eat a few more calories to maintain a certain weight. No big deal. You can do this, just take 1 step at a time. Always keep the diet high in protein and low in carbs.
  22. Just keep doing what your doing... Your doing fine. Your body is losing inches right now. I always say, sit back and enjoy the ride...The weight will come off. Oh, and keep your diet low carb with lots of protein.
  23. I have had a fantastic 14 months of weight loss. I accomplished my weight loss before my surgiversary and am very happy to say the least. Now it's staying on track and staying away from all the bad carbs which is really a challenge for me right now. I recently found my favorite recipe for fudge and have made it. This is the last year I will make it though. It's too tempting and I don't resist. So it's best not to have the stuff in my house.
  24. Those things are going to happen. If I was in your shoes right now, I would talk with your guess and have them remove all the tempting foods in your house. You don't need the extra temptations at this time in your recovery......I'm sure they will understand, after all you are sharing your house with time. Take care of you so it doesn't happen again. Throw those stupid cookies in the trash if you have too. Let me know what you decide to do. I do hope to take control of what comes in your house.
