  1. Just make sure someting has not happened in her world that is bothering her more than you are aware of. It may be general depression, etc.

I find it easy to attach my weight loss to people "acting differently" or "treating me differently". Sometime it IS, to be sure. Many more it is not.

For instance, I don't want to socialize anymore over long courses of food in a restaraunt. Therefore I do not hang out with people that I spent years sharing quite a bit with. Due to that, they are often out of the loop of something bothering me, etc...

Either way I am sorry over your hurt feelings. I hope you feel better soon!

  2. You can savor healthy foods now! put your veggies in cheesecloth and boil them in broth, juice some veggies, find a teavana near you (check online and make sure they get good reviews for fresh tea) and try teas - teavana keeps several samples at any time...

SMELLS TOO - indulge - get some lotion, some fresh cut flowers, fabreeze EVERYTING in a wonderful light scent - it isn't just your taste buds, you r olfactory senses are going to improve, too!!!

  3. I can't speek of speedier ways, I was offered medication because of a metabolism issue, btu it didn't help via regulating me, it only amped up my thermostat - speed, basically - so I declined.

Exercize - small, varied exercise will help alot, I think - and just dont fret.

I have after a long time come to peace with the fact that I am losing slowly, but the sleeve will help me stay on track, and I lose inches even when I dont lose pounds.

May I suggest you find things to keep you occupied? Painting, taking a class, or rediscover the things you lost as you gained the weight? I have took up swordsmanship again, and contact juggling, poi and hula hoops - I lose hours and build up a sweat, and the days just roll by...until the day I went into Old Navy to buy a summer slip, and had to get a 12 instead of the 14 I picked out...

    :)

    Namaste.

  4. I understand TOTALLY - two of the most supportive women I know is struggling and trying - it hurts to see it.

One began losing before I even tried my "final" diet in January of '11 - was stalled and still crazy supportive and cried when we found out I had a stomach tumor (how I went about finally deciding on WLS) - but has not gave up, but feels the surgery is not for her, but I fear it is because it would be self pay and her business is struggling right now :(

Another started her diet in order to "follow me" - but can never get past the first twently pounds, she is yo-yoing in about 4-6 week unp and downs...

I want them to succeed so bad, but neither are in a position or claim to want the surgery, so I walk with them, talk with them, juice and eat healhy with them, and pray for us all, everyday!

  5. I should go back and say I had no complication that was related to his staff...but he is not very involved - but gives you the time he has...I don;t know if that makes sense...his coordinator is awesome, and one of his patients!

The coordinator gets really stoked on your progress.

I also want to say congradulations on finally getting your surgery!

Add yourself to the Houston Active Sleevers group on here...I am tryin gto get us into activities this summer...sleeved or not, all is welcome.

  6. You should cry all you want to, and then wipe the snot off your nose and tell yourself you are doing well, and take it day by day.

Surgery for me is a really traumatic thing (long stories based mostly on me never reacting to meds they way they anticipate) - so I was really scared of not waking up, and waking up the wrong way (i woke up in the middle of a knee surgery once).

Your fears are justified, just be sure the way you react to them is reasonable to your emotions, but aimed at your goal.

So much good luck to you! God bless.

  7. I got to see a part of this and I am going to go back and try to watch it again...what I saw was good, but it leaned heavily twoards a liberal reach of explaining why the government should "help" here and "fix" that..i'd rather be fat (yes I mean that) than have anyone ban foods, or make it difficult to farm one thing more than another (they made corn and soy look like bad boys, but you take away the sbsidies and see how you like paying 10$ a gallon for milk - and good cheese? fetta-getaboutit....)

  8. I waited about 5 weeks before coffee post-op, then realized I needed more time - now, I must admit, as long as I ma getting in my water I will let myself have some coffee. I use lowfat creamer OR sometimes I will use mootopia (fortified milk w/ 12g protien for 8 oz...I also put benefiber in my coffee, so I cam claim some value! haha)

  9. Talk to a good seamstress in your area, and have her confirm how long she would need to make some size adjustments on a specific dress, then order a nice dress that has easy lines to tailor. Your seamstress may even be able to offer you a list of garments for sale - and be able to take it up. Don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck. I tried to get married in kakhis and bare feel but was overuled by all...

  10. I think your lifestyle of eating should be directed at "the most bang for your 2 oz" lol...protiens first. Really focus on the protiens. Seek them out in animal form, and do not be afraid of a small amount of fat. Avoid processed meats once you can. brown turkey meat has slightly higher fat than white, chicken with a little evoo, bison over cow, etc...look to alternate forms of getting in your veggies (I said look, you decide) - I have found jucing and soups that are cold -veggie medlies, etc. are excellent for me. I use it to help supplement my fluids through the day, leaving meals for protien.

I do suggest avoiding carbs in the forms of breads and crackers and dumplings, etc. They just do not pack enough nutritional punch. Eventually maybe barley or oameal in the morning or teffa (am I saying it right??).

If you are referring to the paleo diet in reference to the caveman diet, i call it bunk! If you really want to know what is best for you - it takes a lot of real knowledge - get away from the books promoting diets - read the anatomy texts, the biochem references, the articles posted as studies and papers...alot of knowledge will go a long way (no i did not mean a little, I meant a lot). Some basics to keep in mind with food, and I am just mentioning a few, please feel free to add to the list:

Allergies - food allergies!!! this affects soooo much, even very dangerous inflamation you may not even realize is going on inside of your body - that feeling in your sinuses? You get that elsewhere too when you expose yourself to a daily onslaught of food you are allergic too.

Medications - some medications need to be taken with food or without, avoiding certain foods or types of food, naturally raise or lower blood pressure or affect glucose levels - which you may need to counter with timing your food, food choices (avoiding sodium if you take a med that already is a potential to raise blood pressure, etc - fiber and additional good oil in diet if prone to constipation. Probiotic foods if you have been recently exposed to antibiotics.

Do a blood panel every 3 months to begin with - and pay attention to what that says about your food needs...platelets going down? You may need more red meats, or beans and lentils, etc...or perhaps you need to avoid donating blood for a little while?

Like I said sooo much to consider. I say this only if you are really considering adopting a "lifestyle" food choice...there is not a need for that, in my opinion.

Good luck. if you do choose one please let us know and how it worked!
