i was just banded dec 13th, it was a breeze. they rolled me into surgery at 8am with an iv in my arm, and the next thing i know they're waking me up at 9:30 ! done , and left the hosp at 11am !so far its been way less of a hassel than i thought. very little pain (like a bad pulled muscle for about 10 days) ive lost 12 lbs and have my 1st post op checkup mon jan 9th. honestly you dont have anything to worry about. good luck to you !

Day 8 And I Have Eaten Solid Foods Am I In Trouble
if your dr does allow protein shakes you might want try "Boost"protein shakes. they have 11 grams of protein, a ton of daily vitamins and come in choc, vanilla (very rich !) and strawberry. you can find them near the protein bars or the diabetic section in walmart or the grocery stores. YUMMY !! small, portable bottles, and they dont need refridgeation until you open them. good luck and take it slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww........

January 6, 2012
i hope your little break helps you. before you put junk food in your mouth ask yourself "do i want to go forwards or backwards ?" you can do this !!your weight increase of 1 lb is temporary, but imagine how good you're going to feel when you exercise and eat healthy, and the weight goes DOWN, not UP !!! as far as hubby goes, are you going to let HIS CHOICES derail YOUR JOURNEY ?? i think not !! YOU CAN DO THIS !!!! think about it........ best of luck to you !

BCBS of RI
congrats !! i have bcbs of wash state, they approved me within 3 weeks after my paperwork was sent in. i was banded dec 13th, 2011, so far this has been a breeze from start to finish. ive lost 12 lbs, down 1 pant size and feel great ! my 1st post op appt is jan 9th, hopefully ill get a fill because my appetite has returned to normal somewhat. the only pain i had was the first 10 days i felt like i had a really bad pulled muscle around the port area. i quit taking the disgusting tasting liquid pain meds after 2 days and switched to liquid tylenol. dont forget to have on your shopping list, liquid tylenol, and lifesavers for after surgery. (i had horrible cottonmouth, it took all day to get rid of it, even after a ton of ice chips and liquids ) best of luck to you, keep us up to date !

Seriously Considering Lap Band Surgery
all i can say is do your research and talk with people who have had it. attend the dr.s monthly meetups and local support groups if you have them. i did all the above and so was very comfortable when i made my decision to have the lapband. i had it done dec 13th, it was very easy and recovery has been pretty smooth because i knew what to expect because of all the research i did BEFORE surgery.i think the more you know the less worried you are before, and after. a calm mind =less stress=easier recovery. just my opinion. im down 12 lbs, feel great 1 wish id known about this years ago, already down 1 pant size ! woo-hoo !!

Pre-op Diet???
my dr didnt require a pre-op diet. he just told me that if i lost weight that would be fine, just dont gain any in the next 2 weeks.well i cut back some anyway and lost 6 lbs preop. im purely guessing here, but i think its because i dont carry much weight around my liver , i carry my weight lower around my tummy hips and rear. (of course)

This Is Gross, But The Protein Mix Is
i found that powdered protein mix that you mix with milk causes a bit of gas and blocks me up a little. however i found that if i drink "Boost" protein drink it doesnt cause probs. it comes in little bottles , near the diabetic supplies. it comes in strawberry, choc and vanilla and its very good. keep in mind some people (like me)get diareaha and stomach prob when you have anytjing sugar free because its made with fake sugars that can cause your probs. make sure you read the labels closely on "sugar free" items. good luck !!

What Do U Say.....
i told a few and they all were supportive or neutral. i didnt have any negative comments. if someone asks i just told them that my dr. and i had decided this was a good fit for me and that i was very comfy with MY decision. i was banded dec 13th, so far so good ! down 12 lbs, feel great. have my 1st post op check up and fill jan 9th. best of luck to you !!

In Twelve Hours I Will Finally Be Banded
congrats ! i had mine dec 13th. it was a breeze. just felt like i had a really bad pulled muscle for about 10 days afterwards. that was it !so far so good. hope yours goes smoothly too. i just wish i had had lifesavers to suck on the first day. it took forever to get rid of my cottonmouth the day of surgery ! good luck !!!

First Nsv For Me!!!
patty119- a nsv means "non scale victory", and its anything that is a victory over something you coudnt or didnt have before, not a number on the scale. a compliment, pants that are too loose, walking upstairs without hurting..... you get the picture. hope you have lots and lots, because they sure make you feel good when the scale isnt moving !!

Doctor Visit Nsv/and The Negatives Around It.
i was banded dec 13th and im having the exact same prob as you. however i was told to expect this as i would regain my appetite and poss gain back a little before my 1st fill and checkup on jan 9th. this is a "temporary setback", and not to worry about it. if my first fill is the right amount for me then i will start losing weight. if its not then it may take time to fine tune my band. in the meantime i was told this is the healing phase and not neccesarily the loosing phase. keep this in mind so you dont look upon this as a "failure". its not, its temporary !! youre doing great if youre healing ! keep your chin up and good luck on future nsv's !!!! ive had one or two already , arent they great ??
