  1. I have been taking prenatal (other Vitamins make me sick) for my pre-op and no problem, my nutritionist said take what you normally do pre-op then after I have to use Bariatric Advantage
  2. Well ladies, August is just a few weeks away and I notice all the other months have cute names - May is Red Velvet Gang, Jewels of June, July FIrecrackers.,...what should we be??? August Angels? Sorry no creativity! Anyone have any ideas???
  3. I too am at the end of all the hoops, have my last of the 6 month visits with my doctor on Monday then will be submitted to insurance that day hopefully! Hoping for a sleeve date mid August....
  4. My goal is a size 10 - that also will keep me very slightly above my normal BMI but I have been there before and liked who I was and how I looked. So what to BMI!
  5. My Dr said 4-6 weeks and when I asked this question alot of people said 3 weeks was when they started feeling really well. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule but still planning 3 weeks at least - FMLA since I don't have that much paid time.
  6. hmm interesting! So it was sort of a broth of that meal?
  7. Same with my Tanita's - consistently 1 lb heavier than at weight watchers.
  8. beautiful!! we need to see a before picture if you thought you were at 14 now!!
  9. My insurance specifies that they use the BMI from the start to qualify for surgery.
  10. I have to do a 6 month medically supervised diet for my insurance and that is currently how I am losing. I understand alot of people lose 15-20 in the actual pre-op diet - mine will be 2 weeks of 4 shakes a day, non carb veggies and 6 carbs a day (like cream of wheat, V8, sf pudding, no sugar added applesauce and fruit flavored yogurt - no fruit).
  11. tanita brand, this is what WW uses at their meetings. I had best luck finding online. I own 2 for about 8 years now.
  12. Seems like so few of us in August so far!! Wonder where everyone is??? Hoping for the second week of August here...
  13. I have my last of the 6 months MSWL visit on July 11th and then submitted to insurance!! I have a nutrition class (going over the pre-op diet) that same day and am planning to stop in to the program office and check to make sure they are all set to submit me!! I am hoping for surgery the second week of August, As far as losing too much in your MSWL time, my insurance's (BCBSIL) medical policy states: NOTE: The initial BMI at the beginning of a weight reduction program will be used to meet the BMI criteria for the definition of morbid obesity used in this policy.
  14. former_vbg I would love it if you can find your posts (or even give me ideas on title) ldydrgnkpr - thank you for the link!
  15. You can always stop by the family home and take a dish, drinks or some paper goods, express your condolences and let them know you won't be able to attend.
  16. I'm more concerned after the 2 year mark, not in the losing stage where it seems you are, TNT. I have some documentation and I do plan to talk to my surgeon - he uses 40, originally used a 32 but changed due to less complications - I don't want a 32, would be happier with a 36-38 than a 40. I completely understand that the chance of complications is larger with the 32 - again, not what I want. He told me he used the middle - what I am finding that is more of a 36/38 with the range being 32-40. This is a one time thing, I am not interested in converting later on to DS or RNY,
  17. I am very concerned because the little bit of research out there suggests the higher the bougie the more chance of weight regain - that is my concern, not that I lose faster or more but that it be the tool I need to help me keep it off.
  18. If so, I am interested in how you did it, any information you used to persuade them, etc.
  19. 12 days until I get submitted for insurance )
  20. My mom and my husband keep saying I can't believe insurance will pay for this, it's elective. Very frustrating - I try and educate them but oh well. I am doing it for me, I want to be healthy and this is the tool to keep me that way.
  21. Tanita scales are the best - very consistent - I weigh in at WW each week and my scale is consistently 1 lb more than theirs. I have owned two and they are the best - hard to find in store, I bought my second one online (the official weigh in scales at WW are this brand as well)
  22. I will tell people that I had VSG - honestly, if knowing I did it helps just one person, that is a good thing. Hiding it is why there is such a stigma. Now after saying that, I won't tell them unless they ask how I am losing - then I will explain it all - the diet and surgery.
  23. My pre-op allows unlimited non-starchy veggies - can you get a veggie plate?
  24. My Dr says 4 weeks - I work from home and have a very flexible schedule and he said he might consider 2. Most everyone I have heard say they went back after 2 says they were really tired the first week back so I am thinking 3...we'll see I guess!
