  1. It will not show up on anyone of your friends news feed except yours, and others in the group... no one will see that you are in this group accept the other people in the group. so it is super private - no worries!!
  2. I think you need to choose actual foods to keep you feeling full rather than drinks that will pass through the band. I am not yet banded but that is my opinion.. Try oatmeal or Cereal for breafast, half a sandwich with protien in it for lunch, then chicken and a veggie for dinner. You need to fuel the body to burn the fat. Cheers!!
  3. Private facebook group is made. It is called "November 2011 lap banders" If you add me, stacey diederich-speager as your friend on facebook, then I will add you to the group. Please send me a private message to get added as I do not want my whole circle of friends and family knowing about my lap band decision just yet. Thank you!!!!
  4. I am in Canada. Dr. Mitchell is doing my surgery in Vancouver BC. Where the 2010 olimpics were.. He is one of the top surgens in Canada so that makes me feel good. As for needles, that will become a new part of our life... Think of the last one you had. You may have been scared but did it really hurt?? Prob not right. You can do it!!! What is your BMI? how heavy are you? How much do you want to lose?? I am 225ish and want to lose at least 70 pounds..
  5. that sucks!! i'm on the 30th so you better tell me how it goes!!! Maybe when they see how healthy you become they will come around. I know that I will get flack from some family members but I have to think about MY health and MY future with my 6 month old and my husband!!! THEY can suck it. lol
  6. I think I do know how so I will get on it and post the info here as soon as I getter done. I have told my parents, my husband, two friends with the lap band and my sister. I will tell people if they ask but I am not going to put it all out there.
  7. I am a lower BMI 37 and a self payer as well. Less hassle and the lap band is something I really want. My doctor also agrees that I should not wait until I get to a higher BMI if I am willing to do the work now. Why get your body into MORE trouble just to be accepted by others for getting the lap band?? I can get to 170 -160 on my own but then I give up dieting and get right back to 220.... Vicious cycle, one that I want to end!! My Dr. is requiring me to do two weeks of pre-op dieting invloving 3 shakes a day + low glycimic veggies. I cannot wait for November 30th to get here!!! I also get the "your to small for the lap band" comments, but I figure when I get to 150 or lower (my goal is 140) the same people will say I look great. I am sick of being the biggest girl on my hockey team, or the biggest mom at swimming lessons, etc. Do whatever you feel is best for you!! The nay sayers will think you look fabulous in the end no matter what!!
  8. I am in as well. We should make a private facebook group that no one but us can read or something. Go November Bandsters!!!
  9. HI I am scheduled for the Lap Band Surgery on November 30th, 2011 at the Cambie Clinic in Vancouver with Dr. Philip Mitchell. Has anyone dealt with him? Is he a nice doctor? I spoke on the phone with him 2 times and he seemed very nice. Thanks in adavnce for all your input!! Stacey
  10. Name, real or screen~ Stacey Age~31 Weight on October 1st~ 219 Goal Weight for October 29th~ 215 Exercise Goal for October~ Break a sweat 3 times a week Dietary Goal for October~ 3 square meals and one snack. No mindless munching Personal Goal for October~ Focus on being satisfied - listen to my stomach not my brain. Date Banded~ Not banded yet (I hope I can still play) Surgery date is Nov 30th. I am trying hard to focus on making the right decisions to "practice" for when I have the band. I am practicing chewing, eating slower, and listening to my tummy to see if I am hungry or just wanting to munch. Total Weight Loss Since Banding~ N/A - I have lost 6 pounds since booking my surgery.
  11. What is your food intake like? Are you working out or walking?? Do you need a fill?? Tell us what is going on - I am sure there are lots of people with great advice we just need a little more information!!
  12. I haven't started my pre-op diet yet as my surgery is Nov 30th. But I am only aloud 3 medifast shakes and low glycimic index veggies (up to 2 cups). I am nervous that I will be hungry...
  13. That sounds just like me!! I have breakfast (high fibre Cereal and milk) then a snack (cheese, or granola bar) then lunch (tuna sandwich, or fried egg sandwich, or something like that) then supper ( huge portions of what ever healthy food I cook. like Baked chicken breast, carrots and baked sweet potato fries make from scratch. I would eat 1.5 chicken breasts, 1/2 cup carrots, 3/4 cup fries) Then evening hits and I am hungry again.... so popcorn, trail mix, whatever I have in the house.... BAH!! I cook healthy (5 out of 7 days a week) I just need the tools to eat less of it!!!!!!!!! like a lap band and a small plate!!! lol. I am so glad to have found this board!!! I am going to add you to my "friends" on here if you do not mind. I am scheduled as a self payer on November 30th. and that day could not come sooner!!!
  14. Hahaha, Thank you!!!
  15. Congrats on the skirt fitting!!! Stupid question... What does NSV stand for??
  16. I appreciate you comment but don't think you got where I was coming from...
  17. Thank you!! This is exactly what I was looking for. These are the rules I was given by my Dr. to follow. And this is what I will do!! I thought there was some crazy "work the band" secret that I didn't know about... I don't eat Soups (but I understand that I will have to in the first few weeks after liquids). I do have to stop drinking water with meals, and I am going to start that now so I am used to that by the time I get the band. I added you as a friend on here if that is ok, you seem to really explain things well so I hope you don't mind if I bother you if I have more questions. Stacey
  18. So people are saying you have to work the band. What does that mean? I am not trying to be an idiot but from what I understand is that you will feel fuller sooner and eat less. Is that it? Or am I missing something?? I am scheduled for surgery on November 30th, 2011 and am trying to get all the information that I can. I am currently 225 pounds, 5'4'' and 31 years old. I eat healthy foods 75% of the time, just too large of portion sizes. (the 25% would include going out for dinners, ordering pizza, etc, once a week ish) I excersize. Not at a gym because I hate that. But I play volleyball once a week, soccer 2 times a week, and mom and tot swimming 2 times a week. I used to run 5km and 10 km races but havent since I got bigger due too sore ankles, knees, etc. But I plan to get back into that when I lose some weight too. Any help in explaining is much appreciated. Thank you, Stacey
  19. November 30th for me. I am so excited - but nervous at the same time!!
  20. HI lea3277... We sound pretty simular. I am actually booked in for November 30th I am excited but scared at the same time. I know that I will still be able to eat the food I love, just not as much. I am ok with that. I really do love healthy foods. I know that 1.5 chicken breasts, a cup of carrots, and a huge house salad with "good" dressing is healthy food choices, but it would be so much healthier if I ate half and was satisfied... But I am not... bah!! I will be with the band, right?!?!? 40 pounds in 4 months is amazing!! Great job!!! What is your goal weight?? I am thinking 150 pounds, but I am not sure.... I will be asking you questioins!! hahaha, Thank you for the post!!
  21. Hi all, I am just wondering what made you choose this new journey?? I eat healthy foods, but way to much at each sitting. Is that a good reason?? I am 225# 5'4'', 31 years old. Thank you!!! Stacey
  22. Hello, My name is Stacey I am 31 years old and have always been over weight. 120 at 12, 180 at 18, 235 at 27, got down to 170 at 29 but now back up to 225 at 31.. I am scheduled to have the lap band procedure done on Nov 30th, 2011 as a self payer. I am "in good health" just over weight, achey, uncomfortable!!! I have always played a ton of sports but cannot get a handle on proper portion sizes. I make healthy food choices, but I eat too much of them... I am hoping that the lap band helps me with my portion size issues!! I am looking forward to this journey!! Thanks for reading!!! :0)
