I need some encouragement. I've only lost 33 pounds since March, and I"m feeling blah. I took before and after pictures, but I'm not really seeing any difference :(

You can see my pictures on my profile.

You are not a failure. You have hit a plateau and need a ramp up. When was your last fill? Are you getting enough Protein in? Are you exercising? I noticed i started losing again when I upped my protein. i eat 65 to 80 grams of protein a day. i also drink Water like crazy.

You are doing good. Just need some words of encouragement.

Have you checked those pics. out with your glasses on ? I can see a big Difference.

Sometimes when we stop losing weight, we will lose inches, and then back to weight, and then inches. It keeps it up that way.

You should go and see your Doc, and see about a slight fill. See what he say's .

But you look nice. That's no bull ! you can't see a difference,,,, well I can...

Shirley.

Thanks guys. I think part of the problem is that my fills are so spread out (my doctor won't fill any less than 2 months apart), so I'm just now feeling some restriction. I have another fill right before Thanksgiving, so I'm hoping that it gets me to my sweet spot or whatever it's called. I've been working out at least 3 days a week, but I haven't really been tracking my Protein. Maybe I'm not getting enough. I'll try tracking it to see where I'm at. Thanks for the encouragement! It's hard when you look in the mirror and still see an overweight person! It's also hard not to compare my progress to other people's. My friend lost 100 lbs in her first year, so I think knowing that is part of the problem.

Oh my gosh!! I can totally tell you've lost weight!! I tend to lose a lot of inches before i lose a lot of pounds. In my early 20's, i was a size 6 but i weighed 175 pounds. People never believed me when i said i weighed that amount because they thought i weighed a lot less. I had a lot of muscle so i carried my weight differently. For me, the number on the scale is important but it's also important how you look and how your clothes feel. When i went in for my surgery my dad thought i weighed about 240. He almost fell over in shock when i told him my starting weight was 297. I guess i'm just trying to say that everyone carries weight differently and the scale can be our worst enemy and very discouraging. You should get together with your surgeon to see what you can do to be able to see the numbers on the scale that you are wanting to see. You're looking great!! Have you gone down any sizes in your clothing? Your back, your waist, and your shoulders look so much smaller in your after picture.

I can't see your photo's for some reason, but 33 lbs is a LOT of weight! It may not be as fast as you want - but one of my favorite tricks when I get discouraged is to go to the grocery store, and put 33 lbs of butter in cart. Just look at that, and see what 33 lbs. of fat looks like!! It's amazing when you look at it like that, and it will really help you out mentally. If you can find something that weighs about 33 lbs, pick it and carry it around for half an hour. You'll wonder how you ever did it!

I can see a diference... I see you are in Tampa. My Dr is Dr Aguila....who is your Dr? Are you going there every month? Have you had any fills? Are you tracking your calories? It maybe something simple you need to change.... I sure would start with the Dr.

What's that, 60 lbs a year? I know a lot of people that would be mighty happy with that.

hey,

I think your mind is playing games with you. You look like you have lost a lot of weight. I am the same way. I have lost 63 lbs and I really can not tell the difference, but everyone else is like you look so good. I do agree that you have lost inches not weight. I was a size 20(tight) when I started and now I am size 16. It took a while for things to click but since I hit my green zone I have been losing weight steadily. I think you might want to consider getting your Protein in, in the mornings, that really helped me and it really help with my energy level. Also try to get at least 1000 calories a day, if you don't your body will go into starvation mode and even though skinny people are skinny because they don't eat as much eventually you will want to eat again and that's when you gain the weight right back cause your body wants to hold on to those calories stored as fat when you aren't eating again.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
