  1. I started with the seminar in July. they told me I needed to lose 5% of my weight b4 surgery. told me to start counting calories, 1200, watch fat 40 grams, limit carbs 30/60. Ok each day I logged what I ate - good or bad. I would not have been able to change how I ate if I didn't really see what I had been eating! Start at the beginning log it all. It makes you so much more accountable. soon you will get back in the groove, doing what you did b4 pregnancy. YOU did it once you can do it again. this is not a race, this is life. you want to be the healthiest momma ever!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!
  2. Welcome to the best club ever!
  3. I have juiced ginger, garlic, kale..... there is no end. I juice the leftover veggies in the frig as an add on. it really gets addictive & when the veggie is fresh I know I am getting nutrients!
  4. I love juicing! I started because I read that cabbage would help heal ulcers and any intestinal issues. I drink cabbage, I add a granny smith and it is sooooo good. I drink it every day! I have a friend who got the news that her ulcer (she had a lesion) is healed. she also juices! they is so much info online about juicing, it is great!
  5. if you liked the doctor and office people, trust what they say. you will know if you are ready to go from liquid to mush to food. If it does not feel good you don't move ahead with different food. you have been following this forum so trust what you feel and what you've read from the rest of us. welcome to the group! keep posting and if you need help we are here!
  6. did you see the carb totals!!!! not a place for us!
  7. I have been "thinking" that I am hungry a lot lately. I am ignoring it for as long as I can. I mean to say I know I am not hungry because I ate a good protein meal recently. As I said I am ignoring it and drinking more water. The feeling usually goes away. I need to be in control of this eating thing, not my confused brain! my band isn't going to stop me eating if I am not actively involved in the food plan. I have been trying to get my protein numbers higher so I try to find food that will help that end, no junk.
  8. the skin would be a problem in mushy stage.
  9. I take a liquid calcium by Country Life. It has a slight blueberry taste, a little chalky. The people at the Co op I buy it from reminded me to only take 500 mg at a time, it's all the body can assimilate at a time, I take a half capful 3X daily.
  10. I agree with Corrigan, look for the best for yourself, you deserve it.
  11. Welcome and Happy Birthday!!! Keep us up to date as your journey continues.
  12. Stevia, I am presently using True Via. I have used the Trader Joe's brand also, tasted good. some brands seem to have an unpleasant after taste, bitter.
  13. your story is one the people "on the fence" should read. our health issues were so scary! I made my decision under similar circumstances, agreed best day of our lives! I want to be a healthy grandma who lives to a ripe old age! maybe now I can be the person.
  14. the only thing I would comment on is the carb intake and no potato chips. remember that saturated fats are the enemy! get used to checking out all ingredients of the foods you eat. are you logging the food you eat? many of us use an online food logging system; myfitnesspal.com & sparkpeople.com. these sites will help you see how many calories, fat and protein you eat each day. do you read many of the posts on this forum? start doing that, you will learn a lot about how this can work to help you. the weight you have lost thus far is great! keep learning.
  15. phatkatblue did you go back to the sleep doc after your surgery to see if apnea is gone? I just had another study done and they found that I still need the CPAP. They adjusted the pressure for me, all is good again. The sleep apnea affects thin people too, you know. I have a friend who has always been thin (100- 115 lbs. ) and she always uses her machine! This is a dangerous illness that needs to be confirmed by a doc, not us.
  16. judych yes, I had the hernia. It was the reason I was supposed to have surgery in the first place. yes, I had L O T S of reflux, it was scary! I have none now, the biggest change I made was cutting caffeine out of my life for the most part. I used to drink an enormous amount of coffee. I still miss it a whole bunch but I never want reflux again so I work hard to stay away from coffee. ( I just had cayenne in an omelet I ate, no reaction at all. I am very grateful!
  17. check with your doc, I too take a multi and Calcium citrate ( 500 X3). I have never been good about taking Vitamins for any length of time but I do now. I also spend the money to get the best I can afford - no gummy vitamins. Because we eat so differently now, we need the best!
  18. there is a weight watcher group on this forum, check under food and nutrition I don't do WW but they can let you know how it is working for them!
  19. they just want to be sure you can handle the big change you will be making. answer them honestly, they are not the enemy!
  20. Welcome to our world! we all understand how it seems to take forever to get to surgery day but, everything works as it should. keep reading other posts on this site. you will learn so much and will feel soooo much more ready for surgery. are you dieting (sorry, I don't use that word!) now. are you exercising. have you started drinking lots of water. anything you can do now will be so helpful. a kickstart of weight loss will make you feel so good. I am hoping your docs have already told you, the gastric band is not a miracle! we work hard to lose and keep fat off. this is not a diet or short lived program, you need to see it as a new lifestyle. for me that is such a good thing, hope it will be for you too!
  21. you already knew you had sleep apnea, did you have a CPAP ? this is a dangerous condition where you stop breathing. if they need you to do this, why wouldn't you want to take care of your health? I understand the anxiety about waiting for surgery but, you can start changing your eating habits, eat less, start exercising now. get a head start on your "new life". this is such a small detour.
  22. isn't that funny!! I felt the same way, how can mush taste good!? I add salsa to many of my foods now too, never used to, should have! you will find that being more creative with your food choices and the spices you use will help keep you on track. hope you will enjoy the new life coming to you! I often buy a turkey breast to roast, I use low sodium broth to baste it - soooooo yummy! it is inexpensive and great for my daily Protein numbers. I also have omelettes using one egg plus one egg white. I am lactose intolerant so I can't add cheese anymore but have started adding chopped fresh spinach, onions & garlic for a dyno meal. Salsa is a good addition to it too.
  23. I hate seeing the posts were "one of us" is selling something! Is this appropriate??? I don't think so.
