  1. You looked so cute! Work it girl! Mr. Josh is giving Sleevina a high five!
  2. I've been doing smoothies. I know not a hot food. I freeze fresh fruit over night, measured out in 1/2 cup portions. 1 contain of plain greek yogurt, 1 splenda, and then enough orange or apple juice to get it moving. It's got a lot of protein, and it helps me get in one of my fruit servings- which have made a HUGE difference in how much energy I have for the day.
  3. For those of you having issues getting protein early out, I'm not sure what your doctors plan is, but my doctor had me mix my shake in the following manner. 9 oz 1% or skim milk 2 scoops of carb free or super low carb protein powder I would take my medicine cup and measure out 3 oz for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It would take my about a half hour to drink those three ounces the first two weeks. By the time I went back to work I could do it in 10 minutes, which was nice. I also struggled A LOT with fluids up until about two weeks ago when I discovered Propel Zero. I love that stuff! I now drink at least 2 24oz bottles a day and usually a medium ice coffee from DD. I can now smile without my lip splitting!! Keep up the great work guys, it is SO worth it!
  4. Woohoo!! So happy for you! And I REALLY hope it's regular! I too have PCOS and since surgery 12/5/11 I'm now going on #6!!
  5. I'm three months post op and was over joyed when my NUT told me it was okay to try salad. She suggested that I finally dice whatever toppings I was going to use in addition to making sure the lettuce was finally shredded. I confess, I didn't really do any of that and went right for a "normal" salad. I feel like the lettuce fills me up fast so I make sure I eat most of the chicken before having a few glorious refreshing, crispy bites of the actual salad.
  6. How far out are you? Sometimes I feel the same way, but for the most part I'm very glad I did this.
  7. I was very close to surgery when my paperwork was submitted. My doctors office faxed in a rush request to move things along faster. I don't know if it would have happen as quickly without it, but the letter from the doctors office couldn't hurt. And TRUST me, pre-cert is ALWAYS a good idea for such high ticket items.
  8. That is such a great analogy! And so true!
  9. Mine is just starting... I'll be interested to see what others have to say on this topic! Thanks for asking it!
  10. I'm 27. I know for sure hormones are playing a huge a part in this. (In the almost three months since surgery I'm on period #5!) I'm worn out from that as well! I did have mood swings before surgery, but I feel like they were nothing compared to this! It really gets bad when I"m around my family. I love them to pieces but they drive me nuts! I really just don't know what to do. I'm really hoping that my doctor will have some ideas. I'm not against taking anti-depressents but at the same time I don't like the thought of becoming dependent on medication. I sort of feel like once I stop the pills wont all the factors that made me depressed/feel that way to begin with still be there?? AHHHHH!!! Thank you guys for your words. It does mean a lot knowing someone cares enough to try and help
  11. My surgery was 12/5/11. I've done amazingly well and have lost a little over 60 pounds and am completely thrilled with the weight loss.... However I'm having a miserable time with the mood swings. I'm not even sure how much of it is due to the surgery and losing weight and how much of it may just be because I am that much of a bitchy monster. A few people have mentioned how out of whack hormones get after surgery and I know that to be true for me because of PCOS issues. I feel like a terrible person because I am BEING a terrible person. The littlest things set me off and it isn't nice, pretty or fair for my family and friends that are putting up with me. I was a fairly moody person prior to surgery but it just seems out of control. I see my surgeon this week for my 3 month follow up and I plan to talk to him about this, but I'm not sure he is the right person for this issue. His specialty is helping people drop pounds, not figure out emotions and mood swings. And it's getting worse. Today I basically picked a huge fight with my entire family. At the time I was doing it I kept telling myself to stop talking but it just wouldn't stop and I didn't care because they had done X,Y, and Z. Everyone went their separate ways in the house and I ended up going to the gym with my cousins. I came back in a fantastic mood after a good work out- but everyone in my house is still in a foul mood and it's all my fault. So here I am in tears again with no one to blame but myself. No one to talk to really about what is going on inside of my head, heart and body but you guys. And you guys are totally awesome, but I can't help but wish I had someone to talk to in real time about this. You guys can't put an arm around me and tell me it's going to be okay or really help me identify what the "trigger" is... I think I need therapy. I never expected losing weight to make me feel this way. Someone HELP! Please!
  12. Today I am thankful for a coworker motivating me to go to the gym! And I'm thankful she was a fun partner while there!
  13. Are you mixing your protein drink with water or milk?
  14. Hi ladies!! Time for yet ANOTHER period question! I have PCOS so I know that plays a large part in my cycle issues... Priot to surgery I hadn't had a period for 4 months... I'm now 2.5 months post op and working on my 4th period in that amount of time... How long did it take for your cycle to get back to normal? I'm starting to feel drained from just the thought of another period!
  15. Ja- I love a CL strawberry, banana, orange I think it is... It's VERY yummy. I've also done the tropicana 50 post op. Just a few sips at a time is enough to take care of the craving. The small individual size bottle lasted me almost a week!
  16. Go you!! I don't think I felt like doing anything at all until day 5- and cooking certainly wasn't one of the things I did that day!
  17. It's totally worth it!! Keep up the good work!
  18. You're doing fine! Who knows how much fluids they pumped you full of in the hospital. Who knows how long it took your body to get rid of those fluids. And as far at the differences in the scale go- sometimes they're just dumb! We know this!! HaHa
  19. I know that around my 3rd week I hit a stall that lasted a little over two weeks. I fluctuated back and forth between two pounds gained or lost and it was frustrating! As yummy as soup is and as easy as it goes down- sometimes I think it isn't that good for us. We're told not to drink with our meals (which is exactly what you do with most soup) and it's hard to get a soup that has enough protein. I often wonder that if you take a chili or something that does have more protein if the liquid part flushes it through too quickly..... Idk......
  20. Thought it might be fun to start a new thread where each day we could post one thing we are thankful for. Some days this may seem cheesy but all in all we all have so much to be thanful for and what if someone who is having a bad day stumbles upon something we said and it helps them through their day?? So, today I am thankful for...... A fellow December Sleever getting over her leak!!! YAY!!
  21. Oh, I really am so happy for you right now I could either cry or jump up and down! (Silly weight loss hormones!)
  22. Well, I was sleeved 12/5. Prior to surgery my last period was in August... Within 4 days of surgery I finally had one and was so happy I could cry.... Today- although thankful for it I can't wait for it to get regular! I'm on my 4th period since surgery 2.5 months ago!
  23. Awww I'm so happy for you! I hope that you quickly end up being thankful for your sleeve! I don't expect you'll ever be thankful for the bad but I can't wait for you to start experiencing some of the joy my sleeve has brought me! And ya know- we really don't live that far apart from each other. I'll be down your way on the 29th- maybe we can grab a bottle of water lol
  24. Hey Alex, what is there for iphone users? I've tried to find an app before but didn't find anything that was as nice as this site.
  25. LoserMama, it does sound as if your bes bet would be to get in touch with a pulmonologist. What area of the country are you in? I know climate and altitude can have something to do with the settings as well.
