  1. In 7 months I have lost 72 lbs, but before that I lost 42. It took me about a year to get where I am, but I have no doubt I will lose 100 lbs from my surgery date before its anniversary.
  2. Do NOT worry about what other people are losing. You will sabotage your emotional health that way. You are going to lose if you follow your plan. It is nearly guaranteed. I do not look at other people's weight loss anymore because I know I am going to hit goal regardless. This is not about pounds it is about percentages. If I am aiming for a normal BMI like my PCP wants, I am 87% of the way to goal. If I am aiming for my goal, I have lost 75% of my excess weight. That is over 112 lbs, and 72 was after surgery 7 months ago. I average 10 lbs a month. That seems small in comparison to some of the big numbers others lose, but this is perfect for me and I know I can look at my percentages to see where I am at. I only have 17 lbs until I am at a normal BMI, and 37 until I am at my goal. I totally think I can lose that in 5 months for my 1 year sleeve anniversary. The formula for percentage of excess weight: (Highest weight-Current weight)/(Highest weight-Goal Weight)
  3. You can do this. Just follow whatever plan you are doing and stick with it! I don't know about Kaiser, but my insurance plan did not require any particular weight loss amount. Over the 6 months during my supervised diet though, I lost over 15% of my weight. Do you meet the other requirements for them to cover surgery?
  4. Lol, my one smidgen of advice? Don't do it the week after classes start. It threw off my entire rhythm. I had to go part-time for the term, and I normally take at LEAST 15 credit hours along with a part-time job. Common sense, right? Wish I would have used it. You ladies can totally do this! I will definitely recommend a summer or winter break though. Take the time and recover before throwing yourself into life post-op and a full-time course load. Save your sanity.
  5. AAAAHHHH! I am so excited for you. Congrats! You deserve it, lady!
  6. At Starbucks or Panera, get any sandwich and just remove the bread. The bread can fill you up super fast and keep you from getting all that good Protein, almost all the sandwiches have plenty of protein so take your pick. For drinks? Just go for the sugar free syrups and sweeteners, and you can save yourself from most of the sugar found in their drinks. Unsweetened teas are also normally really good. Edit: I don't know about fraps though. I just avoid them because they make me munchy.
  7. You are doing so awesome. Congrats!
  8. Love it! Thank you so much for sharing your positivity with the forum. I always really enjoy reading your posts and can find quite a lot of inspiration!
  9. Err.... I <3 McNuggets at nearly 7 months out, but again I wouldn't eat them except for when I am out of options. I always try to make sure I have my protein before I leave the house. Planning is really a big part of what I think makes the weight loss nearly effortless.
  10. That's awesome. I know stalls are hard mentally, but it really sounds like you are doing great. Keep it up! Lol, I totally understand the slacking. I am my own worst enemy. It got really bad to a point my mom and boyfriend thought I needed an intervention because I just wasn't hungry i.e. read eating and I kept forgetting my fluids. I am a lot more focused on the fluids and Protein now.
  11. Got to love that unsweetened McDonald's iced tea. Congrats on doing so well! You really are living the lifestyle.
  12. I really don't wanna believe that kind of prejudice exists, but I know it does and is becoming a much larger part of our society. This kind of discrimination will not help the people who need care, and being obese does not stop one from being a good caregiver/nurse.
  13. Congrats! I can't even imagine hitting goal right now, everything is still so surreal. That is just amazing.
  14. Wow, what an amazing transformation!
  15. Lol, I forget about the surgery ones, but oh how I hate my stretch marks. They are everywhere!
  16. Congrats! That is an awesome way to break a plateau.
  17. Such an inspiration! Congrats!
  18. Nope, same as ever. I am on the IUD Paraguard.
  19. *nods* I totally agree. I am so glad I am not alone in this one! It is definitely one of my biggest pet peeves.
  20. You look amazing. Congrats on such an awesome transformation. I have no doubt you will hit your goal.
  21. Yeah, I definitely feel what you mean by being a slave to the food in front of you. I really can't thank my sleeve enough for giving me the freedom to walk away. I am so happy for you. Good luck on your journey!
  22. That's awesome. My mom was able to do that same yesterday! I am so happy for you.
  23. Most of the time for me, the stall with increased exercise is that I am not getting enough water. I DO NOT, I repeat, I do not lose without maintaining adequate hydration, so I always have to keep on top of that especially when I am doing intense cardio and for a long time walking was it.
  24. That's awesome. I am so weak in the upper body, and everyone keeps pushing me to do high weights with low reps. However, it really is hard for me and I just don't enjoy working out that way. This gives me a lot of hope that I can still look toned with weights I can manage and high reps. Thank you so much!
