I have noticed that many people get infections after they go home. I have a Dr in the family and he sugested I get a antiseptic/ antimicrobial skin cleaner ( he gave a brand name, can we tell brand names here?) and to use it a couple of days before surgery on any areas where I will be opened. ie ; blood work, iv, surgery area. I haven't seen this on any of the 'what to do before surgery conversations', so that leaves me with questions. 1) Is this common knowlege so it doesn't need to be spoke of? 2) Has anyone used it, Did said person get an infection? If bringing this up helps people not to get infections I feel we should spread the word, but if the product doesn't help, I would like to know that as well.

Hi, I would like to know if anyone is going to Jerusalm clinic on 9-22-11. I will will be having surgery with Dr Almanza and I will be going with my son. I think it would be fun to get to know you.

I may be wrong, but sometimes dr Almanza lets you make payments. I am going through him and I have made 3 pre payments so far. Talk to Louise.

I called yesterday and was told a 32 bougie and as of Janurary of this year he started to do the over sew as well. My date is (9-22-11 )

I think my mom comes from fear, my sister died from lukimia when I was little and she has been over protective of me. I don't doubt she would use manipulation if she thought it would work, but in this case she was sobbing. I think you're right about she and I agreeing to disagree. She will be fine after it's all over and perhaps, even be happy I stuck to my guns. Thanks

My mother cries on the phone," Will your children know what to do if you die? People have died from this you know!" She makes me feel so guilty and selfish. I have just decided to take control of the conversations from now on. I have been allowing her to talk to me this way. Im a grown woman, able to make educated choices. Im the one who has to live in this body.I will be firm and loving and let her know this is not up for debate, and I would be happy to educate her on the process, but I will have my own choices. Me too, I am trying to get everything I need so when it comes time Im all prepared. My date is 9-22-11 and I have already wrote out a to-do list for my husband while I'm gone and a chore list for the children. I thought I should do this while I still can think straight.

My mother had went on a hospital regimented diet, paid $4200, saw the dr weekly, lost weight fast and looks great. However, she was pimarly on a liquid diet for a year, couldn't leave for trips or vacation because if she missed a dr apt. she would be outted.Now that she can eat she is always thinking of her next meal. It can be done by some...not me. If I pay thousands I want a lasting solution, and to not be hungry.

Im so happy for you to be able to work out the date and not have to wait tell October. If you're like me you'll be obsessing over it, and in 3 days that will be all over. lucky

I am sooo sorry you are going through all that! I have had "PI" several times in my life. It might be what is causing your diarrhea. I hope you heal fast. Best wishes

Thanks to all who have responded, and those who have posted such positive afirmations. It means alot to me. I have to not show any fear at home so my children won't think of it as fearful. With my mother crying in fear on the phone to me, I sometimes waver and wonder if I have a right to put her through this. I regret ever telling her before hand. This forum is liberating and has helped me to truge ahead and look to the future, make some goals. Thank you

After fighting the battle of the bulge, I'm now on my way to a leaner outlook. The surgeon has been picked. The date aquired. The pass card in hand.I've been like a bull in a china shop charging forward. To my family ( husband and 6 kids ages from 23-3) I am all confidence. In my heart I wonder if I could be one of the 4% who won't be raising their children. Still, with this selfish fear I plow ahead hoping I will be the mom in 2025, at my youngest twins high school graduation, perhaps, in a pretty floral dress.
