  1. Children are such a blessing! Congratulations! Now you get to buy all those cute little clothes for him and cuddle him. I'm so happy for you!
  2. I got up at 5am this morning to get my colonoscopy. I have had one of these every other year for the last 9 years, but this year I am having it early so we know I'm ok for my surgery and I feel like I am slightly short of breath.I am feeling better just acknowledging this to you.I believe it is getting real now, not just a hopeful plan.My husband is in the kitchen making pancakes for our children when they wake up and we are waiting for our oldest son to get here after work to watch our children and get them on the school bus. It's funny how the days are slipping away. To start the liquid diet they make you take a dieretic...it was an ...interesting day....lost 8 lbs. I guess we know what I'm full of. lol How is your diet going? The smell of food dances in my head and makes me hungry and my stomach speaks a language I don't want to know!
  3. any excuse to get naked...its quite odd. And I am loosing weight, approx 10pounds (in 5 days). I am trying to be positive about everything, it is my goal to not let things get me down through the next coming weeks. You know keep an eye on the light at the end of the tunnel ya know. What do you get to have on your liquid phase? Soups or only clear liquids/broths etc. I so enjoy our conversations, and I love men's inhibitions... I think you are fantastic loosing 10 lbs in 5 days. I hope to emulate you.I can have anything I can see through for my Clear Liquids. I have bought drinks and broths that have Protein in them. I love to think positively about the whole experience. I want to be smart about it as well. I need to plan out how to have 60 Proteins. I hear too many people going under. best wishes.
  4. I blushed and threw my head back to laugh at the naked rugby competition. The fact that a man would do that to himself in the freezing cold cracks me up. Sock anyone??? How are you doing on your diet? It's odd, I have mixed feelings about going on the liquid diet. I dread being hungry, yet it means the beginning to a whole new healthy life.
  5. I thought I was too cute in pumps and a floral dress....until I saw the photo. My cousin calls it reverse anorexia. I always think I look better than I do. I guess God gave me rose colored glasses to see through. Now I know and I am determined to look the way I feel about myself.
  6. no one can tell you if you will be safe or unsafe when you travel ( anywhere in this world). I have been to Mexico 3 times and haven't had any issues. My Aunt goes yearly for her dentistry ( no issues there ), however, I did have a small issue in the Caribbean ( pick pocket ). Don't keep your money in one place ( mom's favorite place is the bra, she said she would at least get to 2nd base if she lost some money lol) I like the sock and yes the bra (blush). The inside of a hat isn't the best, but will do in a pinch. I also keep a dummy wallet with a small amount of cash ( to hand over if you must ). Don't wear jewelry or designer purses, and watch the people around you ( good to do anywhere). Enjoy yourself, and their wonderful atmosphere. I am going on the 22nd for my surgery and plan on a great time.
  7. It will be fun, going to see the Rugby world cup...definitely will be a good distraction. Tho will be hard being around all the drunk people and not being able to drink. Tho I am not a big drinker, i enjoy the odd social drink You are welcome to ditch the potty training kids (leave them with hubby) and join us in NZ Luckily for me NZ is just a few hours flight from here. I will see if i can post some pics when I get back. Atleast being around people will be help keep the nerves down. I am not looking forward to clears either, but luckily I am not on them before, so am hoping it wont be too bad having them afterwards as i will be recovering. Tho I imagine I will be over liquids quickly. But should be happily on full food by the time I get to New York in November.... BTW Back patted! Thank you! I'll pack my bags and be with you in spirit ( lol) and I would love to see pictures. I too enjoy the occasional drink. I believe we are the lucky ones to not be in a habit of daily drinking, it will be less of a loss for us. One lady on here said she would get cranberry juice on the rocks and she didn't feel out of place. I think I would prefer a virgin strawberry Margareta. Yum!
  8. I am surprised I am not really hungry on the Optifast diet, i get the occasional twang but then it goes. I am shocked I lost like 2.5kgs (approx 5pounds) in 2 days. Wonder what it will be on the surgery date. I am spending the weekend preparing for after the surgery, making some broths, organising my clothes by sizes. Next weekend I will be in New Zealand til the day before the op, so wont be able to next weekend. Also means I wont be stressing about what I am going to do.. How do you plan to spend the weekend before the event I've got to say, WOW, New Zealand!!! I hear it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I'm going to a church camp with my potty training kids...I want to go with you! lol. They do have everything from zip lines to Water sports to keep us occupied and We will have a great time. They are not putting me on optifast, I go straight to Clear liquids before and after surgery. I imagine I will be board to death with clears after this. 5 lbs in 2 days!!?!! WOW, that has to feel great! Give yourself a pat on the back for me.
  9. I have felt this too. I agree with littlemissdiva you will save money in the long run of years and years of eating properly, health improvement ( even if you don't have problems now long term weight gain is hard on a body) and think of the thin person inside. Do you ever see who you can be? That person can do more, can't they?
  10. I think she is just saying I want to keep you safe and sound. I had showed my mom the sites and surgeries on youtube and told her to ask me any questions about the surgery. She had started to ask the questions and felt a little safer, then she wanted to know more of my DR. and I told her of him and in doing so I told her that I have been watching him and getting information for over 2 months. Then I asked her of her last surgery and how did she choose her Dr. and how much research she had done......," Well, none. Kaiser picked him out for me." she said. She hasn't said anything negative about the surgery sense.
  11. I'm laughing right now, because on the pre surgery side, I am refusing to buy the next size up jeans. I have only one pair of jeans that fit me right now. I bought them in mens style because they will fit my husband after I have my weight loss and they are snug! I have clothes in my closet from when I was in High school ( I wore 501's and had 28 inch hips). I'm glad to know I not the only one with hopeful clothes.
  12. Hey how is all your prep going? I have started my pre-op diet, so far so good. A little under 2 weeks to go. You are doing well with 6 kids...i don't know I could handle that! I have a colonoscopy next Thursday and start my liquid diet the day before that. I'm not looking forward to it, I get real crabby when I get hungry. I am hopping my husband will take the kids out to eat or make the meals so I am not tempted to eat. I believe because my children are scattered in age it is easier. I had the oldest 2 closer in age. I didn't think I would want more children, but as they got older and didn't need me as much I wanted another child and so on. The joke my oldest daughter makes is that all of her children's aunts and uncles aren't born yet, lol. Just 2 weekends away for us. Have you packed? I haven't as yet. I do have everything I can think of set aside. I always feel I may be missing something. I am determined to be one of the lucky people who do not have pain after the surgery........do you think that will work? lol
  13. Im happy for you! Let us know how it is on the other sideof the sleeve.
  14. Congratulations, and welcome! I love reading of others' experiences going to Mexico. I will be there this month ( different Dr ).

  19. The 22nd will come around too quickly I am sure. My work is keeping my crazy busy. How old are your kids? Bring on the smaller groups, breath out in safety lol Only 3 more Saturdays!
