  1. I hope more people add to this thread (thanks for starting it) ... interesting topic !
  2. What a shame ! You spend time, money (maybe your insurance) and you're not getting the service you deserve. I am not impressed with my surgeon's office either but I'm pretty firm about them not rushing thru things, answering my questions, etc. They blow thru instructions like they are citing the A-B-C's ... stop, slow down, this is the first tie I am hearing this and it's info I need !
  3. Hey, MassMom ... sounds like you're doing great ! Love to hear it ! Welcome to the new July bandsters ... wow, some of you move so fast with insurance, etc ! Shauna - I miscalculated (check my blog) - I start pre-op tomorrow (math was never a favorite !)
  4. Woke up this morning and immediately thought of the July 5 bandsters .... here's hoping that everything goes well for you ! Wow Alygurl - a check in already - yougogirl !! Hope the gas subsides quickly. Math was never my strong suit - I had in my mind that today was the first day of my pre-op diet. Again, woke up and it hit me - I'm having surgery on a Thr - my pre-op diet is two weeks - today is Tuesday so NO - pre-op starts on Thr ... I guess I cannot count to 14. Any other pre-ops start on Thr?
  5. Great topic so thank you to the OP. I love how you've all spoken about the ability to control yourself which is what I want out of the band. Signed, the girl who can eat an entire box of Cheese-its.
  6. Thanks, everyone ! Shirley - I will find yours I ended up figuring out how to blog (well, that's an overstatement) on blogger and my blog is in my signature. My new problem is when someone sends me a message - it "the proverbial it" says that I cannot message back. Need to fiqure that out or people will think that I'm flat out rude ... thanks for the comments !
  7. I like what Aly said - be kind to yourself ! Good luck with the surgery ... come to the board often ... it's a great support system !
  8. Thanks for blogging ! I found you and now I can read all about your success !! To the OP - personally, while I want to know about the medical issues - I skip over the posts where people are not following rules, etc. I do not want to know how to cheat the band.
  9. Great news, Tracie ! On vacation will be very tough (I'm not even banded and I'm concerned about this). Thanks for sharing your good news !
  10. Good afternoon July bandsters !! Let's hope that we all receive independence from food issues by the next independence day !!
  11. Hi S ~ SweetPea said it best ... take the good and leave the bad behind ! Welcome .... I've learned so much from these boards and they are not overwhelming like I found my surgeon's office to be. Welcome !
  12. Wow - thanks for checking in ... please keep posting so I can get over my fear of post-op (and pre-of for that matter !)
  13. Good for you ! It's hard but we all (the proverbial we all) take more care of our jobs, parents, etc etc but not ourselves. I'm glad you're putting yourself ahead of your job ... their loss (and yours too !)
  14. Congratulations, Wendy ! I'm excited about our 'new beginning' too ... glad to hear that you're doing well and not hungry (that's what I need !). Keep us updated on your progress !
  15. Lorelei - it does help knowing this ... thanks for sharing ! Denise - July 5th is our new independence day !
  16. You echo many of my same thoughts (emotional tie to food, afraid of failure, etc). I am hopeful that I can turn my fear into determination (oh, but I am scared). We can do this together !
  17. Oh, I am sorry to hear. It's such a big deal to get the darn thing in but you will be out of pain (so that will be good). I'm curious too. Any idea why the pain? You don't hear too much about this here on LBT (or at least I haven't read about it).
  18. Lisa ~ you are hilarious !! Yesyesyes - that private school education totally paid off !! I love your blog ... .can't wait to read it in full !
  19. Lisa - I totally love the way you think ... I can see me counting hours and minutes too !! I'm off to check out your blog (just started one yesterday) - drop by mine !
  20. Hi Robbie - I had to wait until I jumped thru all of the hoops and then had to wait for the insurance answer. At least you'll know in the beginning what their criteria is ... good luck !
  21. Welcome ! I don't have anything to add as I'm fearful of the pre-op liquid diet too but whoa - five children ... you are busy !! Welcome !!
  22. thanks for checking in ! xlstan - that is my hope -- that all of these head games will turn into molehills ... thanks guys for sharing !
  23. Nothing to add ... Stateofzen ... I like your screen name !
