  1. LisaB - I so agree ! The amount of years I've been overweight (my entire life), time and money I have spent on weight loss is astronomical. Yes, I've lost weight but as my PCP says - never really learned good eating habits ... so this is it for me.
  2. yeah ! I'm right after you (7/21). Yes, I am also nervous (very) and excited ! When do you start your pre-op diet? Maybe we'll be doing that together too !
  3. Sorry, no advise on the hemeroids. <-- heck, I can't even spell it ! Short and chunky - I'm with you. I try to skip over anything negative. I'm not trying to avoid the known risks but I don't need anyone (cyber or otherwise) bringing me down ... Alygirl - good luck with those exams !
  4. Sounds great ... glad you are back with your plan !
  5. Maybe you could go to another surgeon and see if they have a support group? Or a nutritionist who can help? This board is also a huge source of info (for me anyway). Good luck ...
  6. Welcome MissShy - sounds like you're doing great to me - 15 lbs gone is great and sounds like you are on a good walking plan. Keep it up !
  7. Good morning July Band Buddies ! I thought I start a weekly thread (if anyone is interested) .... I hope all the pre-op folks are doing great and anyone who has a July 1 date (this Friday) is ready to go I wish them all well (as I try to unravel my nerves for the pre-op). Boy, am I tired - the little cardigan I am wearing (I don't even let my BF see these arms) was inside out ! Have a good day !
  8. Vicky - I do want to create a blog and I want to follow too (yours especially) - do you know if I first have to have a blog to follow? Thanks !
  9. This isn't an 'along the way' goal - but I so want to be able to wear a pair of boots with casual skirt .... I just love that look My ankles have always been huge (soccer sprains when I was a kid so it's just fat ankles - they are simply out of whack) but if I can get healthy and thin - boots are on the goal list. Amjcal - I guess I am so fearful of the pre-op diet, the liquid and then mushies stages that I just want to surround myself with some indulgences (ie fresh flowers) during that time ...
  10. Vicky - your stats are awesome !!!
  11. How cute, Amy ! If it doesn't show here - I'll email you. I'm with you - love the July support !
  12. You might even want to work backwards. After your seminar - ask the surgeon' office for recommendations for a primary doctor that is familiar with them. I needed my doc to arrange tests, etc before I was approved.
  13. Nikki - thanks for starting this thread. I, too, want to seek out some therapy. My surgeon's office has a once a month group but it has not been helpful at all. Aroundtown - thanks for the book recommendation.
  14. Love the jewelry/charm idea and a puppy ... how cute !
  15. Love it ~ congratulations !!
  16. DaveNW - you mention a dense protein. Can you please give me an example or two? Thanks !
  17. Thanks, NJgirl. Breaking the grazing habit is just one more thing for me to work on so the 3 meals and 3 snacks is how I got this way inthe first place !
  18. Thanks everyone. It seems easier to think of the 'treats' for getting close to goal (clothes, etc) but I want to think about the journey as well. I like the idea of new perfume (something I don't usually splurge on).
  19. I haven't even started my pre-op yet but I'm thinking of ways to treat myself. I've decided to have fresh flowers for the few weeks of pre and post-op. Anyone else do this? Have ideas?
  20. Great news ! I would like to get to my feet too (i.e. toe polish) without doubling over in pain
  21. I love it ... "I'm a little special" .... that sounds just like me. Hopefully (one day), I'll have your awesome stats and be able to eat popcorn too. Thanks for bringing a big to my face this morning !
  22. Just added to my list: wearing short sleeve tops
  23. Pretty sure it is mail order only.
  24. Welcome Breezybbyy .... this July group is so nice and helpful. Just knowing that you're not alone is great ! MassMom - oh my goodness - I cannot imagine have the endoscopy done without being under. Simply cannot imagine.
  25. A year is a long time but I would have loved it it my insurance company had something like a mandated health coach. Aug will be here before you know it !
