Family Medical Leave Act only applies to companies that have greater than 50 employees. Don't want to discourage you - just want to add a fact from the law.

Also consider your drive time. I have a hour in the am and over an hour in the pm commute. I am in no hurry to get back to the stress which helped (??) get me to how I am today ....

Agree to much with Leslie - find your support (and yes - don't be so hard on yourself. Congrats on your two year assignment to Dubai. I hope you continue to post because I would love to hear about your adventure - consider starting a blog - then let me know so I can cheer you on ! My family moved to West Germany ("west" - how's that for showing my age) in high school and changed my outlook forever .... good luck !

Sure, I think it's possible ... unless you have not a good recovery. But, on the whole, you'll be eating smaller meals (which people do), exercising more (which people do) ... even protein shakes (people drink those all of the time as well).

Really appreciate the time you took to post this. I agree - very inspirational ....

Close friends have been told but there is no way I would ever share my health issues with those with whom I work. I think I'll get wierd stares (too) when i eat small portions and no sugar, etc but that will be fine. I am POSITIVE when I'm off work that the gossip will be flying (I'll be off for 5-6 weeks) but I really don't care. My health is more important than their yapping.

I had a ton of hurdles from my insurance company (which was okay for me) so by the time my surgeon's office submitted for authorization - my insurance company (if they were looking) knew exactly why I wanted the band, etc. Took 3-4 days for the ins company to approve. (And I called to check on them to make sure the claim was recived, etc).

Sounds like our July Bandsters thus far are doing great !! My Mom is a nurse and a firm believer: You MUST stay ahead of the pain ... our bogies cannot heal unless they are in rested stated so please - take your pain meds as directed Today was my first day of liquids only. So far, so good (and I'm typing not eating). Went to Thai for lunch and had two cups (largish) of broth ... delish. HRM800 for bfast (protein shake) and a muscle milk mid-pm. I'll probably go to the condo pool and then right to bed ~
