So...I tried on jeans 2 weeks ago, and found that I was down from a size 26 to a size 22. I had a couple old pairs of size 24's, so I decided to order some size 20's, and just wear the baggy 24's until I could get into the new 20's.
Well....those new 20's arrived today....AND THEY FIT!!! I don't just mean I could manage to get them zipped...I mean I could breathe and sit in them!! They look amazing! Its been more than 15 years since I could fit into a pair of size 20 pants...and, so help me G-d, I will NEVER see anything larger EVER AGAIN!!!
    WOOHOO!!

I echo everyones sentiments here. I didnt set a timer, didn't get hungry or thirsty, didn't get in Protein and landed in the hospital with dehydration. Worry about staying hydrated first then the rest will fall into place soon enough.

Two of my all time humiliating moments.. When I couldn't fit on a roller coaster.. I just acted like I changed my mind... It was so embarassing.. And second was when I was on a cruise.. We were at a comedy show with stand ups.. I got up to go to the restroom during the show.. And the comedian said as part of his act.... Lady.. You can get food 24 hours a day.. She's headed back to the buffet!!! I was mortified!!!!

I feel the pain as each person shares their story. Sometimes those memories are still vivid and real. Reading these through, I see a common bond... we are not a lot alone. We are strong and overcomers.
I hope each us finds the strength to let go and heal. We are worth it.
I can't wait for surgery this fall. The journey continues.
    Peace

Anyone who says you took the easy way out obviously knows nothing about this procedure. The easy way out would have been just giving up and accepting we were fat. I watched my mom do this last October and it gave me new respect for the woman. You have to watch Proteins, carbs, fats, your meds, your Calcium, your Vitamins, your liquids... Seriously, how is that easy? Plus, the actual fact that they all but TAKE YOUR STOMACH OUT.
When I hear people say I took the easy way out (and so far no unsuspecting soul has) I'm going to tell them that they don't have a clue as to what they're talking about and my mama told me better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool that to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

It is pretty much accepted that 3,500 calories = 1 pound. Consume 3,500 calories more than you burn, then you gain a pound. Burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you lose a pound. So, given the # of calories you consume vs what you are burning, do you think you consumed 4 x 3,500 = 14,000 more calories than you burned ... ?
    Didn't think so
Soooo ... Not only for TOM, but there are other reasons why you could gain weight most all of them related to Water retention.
As long as you are in deficeit, you are not gaining fat, and that is the bottom line ... right?

I avoid sugar as much as I can. For some reason, if I have any meaningful amount, I feel like I'm going to explode.
I try not to think of carbs and just get as much Protein as I can. And if I never hear the word "carb" ever again, I'd die a very, very happy man.

enigmachik Warning, warning, this does not compute
its not allowed in Sleeveland to say the "O" word - only
you don't say ONLY 10 lbs for example - cuz 10 lbs is 10 lbs. wow - it's not ONLY 10 lbs -
makes it sound like you have higher possibly unrealistic expectations.
oh dear i hope i didn't say that wrong, don't mean to be rude
    you'll do great
    good luck

No your not overreacting i told my best friend let me have my surgery then i would join the gym with her and she said for what thats the easy way out! I thought i could go to her for support in anything i do not! So i told her this was not easy if it was a quick fix everyone would do it, and people who do decide to have surgery go through alot of changes so whats so easy. After that i didnt mention nothing to her anymore about it and when ahead and did it.

I tell this to my daughter all the time. Information is power the more information someone has on you the more power they can assert over you. Most people dont realize it but this is a perfect example of that. It may not be something they can do to cause you any major problems, but it is an inconvience that you shouldnt have to handle. Play things close to the vest and for those that think this is easy, they are ignorant. I'm 12 days post op and I have had only liquids for the past 26 days what is easy about that?

Yes Yes Yes!! I am 12 weeks out and STILL struggle at times. I literally felt like I have mourned the lost of my very best friend. Eventually you will be able to have most anything, but odds are, you won't want to once that weight starts falling off and you start feeling like a million bucks. The liquid stage is the toughest, and once you start adding foods, you won't feel so restricted. Hang in there!!!

    I am
Over three months out and i still struggle with head hunger every day... Sometimes I feel
Hungry in my stomach... Only to go eat something and be only able to eat a bite... That's how I know it's head hunger. It is such a long learning process... I still make mistakes and make stupid decisions... Just gotta keep learning from them.
