  1. Tomorrow is a new day- Every small step is a milestone - that you are walking instead of riding at the store is AWESOME~ I agree you need to set goals - I set small goals like 10 lbs in a month - For me I think I will set long term goals once I become more sucessful - You need to find an excercise that will not put to much stress and expectations for yourself so you will look foward to it and not DREAD it-- The pool is a great tool - it is easy on the limbs and you get strenth excercise at the same time from the water resistance - even just walking in place for 20 minutes will burn 200 calories  You can do this - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - Email me if you need a buddy I think we had our surgery about the same time deboramo@att.net

  2. I was banded June 8th 2011 - It is a surprisingly EASY process - the liquid diet did not bother me at all after the first couple of days - Probably because I was so EXCITED to finally be on the way to a new life - I have wanted this for so long I never cheated on the liquid diet or any of the rules after surgery - I am currently on muhies (soft foods) and try other solids as I feel I can do (per my doc) I am eating about 500-600 calories a day and NOT hungry, eat my protein first always -I am sure as I get closer to my first fill date that will change however again I have wanted this for so long I do not want to do anything I should not - Hopefully this will all continue long term~I am a newbie and no expert but feel free to contact me anytime with questions - also support

  3. Congrats on the blodd pressure!! I am a diabetic and have not taken any diabeties meds since on the preop diet-- I can;t wait to go for my first fill alas I have to wait till July 19th Glad to hear youa re doing so well

  4. Hi Debora, I by no means am an expert but here is my two cents worth. Sounds like to me so far so good. You say you are eating about 600 calories a day but how many grams of protein are you taking in? Just a warning the protein is key to a successful weight loss with lap band and keeping the feeling of satisfaction. Also protein is the key to keep your hair from failing out, with lap band we are not suppose to lose our hair but if we do not take in our protein it does start to fall out more than usual. As for suggestions for lunches, in the beginning I did well with deli meets, turkey and ham, cheese, canned tuna and chicken,(u can add a little mayo and some veggies for crunch to make it taste good) Lunch for me these days varies, sometimes it is Greek Yogurt, add a little protein powder or a table spoon of bare naked protein granola, a small salad about a cup with 2 oz's of lean protein. I drink lots of water, about 96 ozs a day. Water keeps me from snacking because I had a bad habit of munching when I was not hungry in the past. I also plan my meals everyday, I plan them the night before. I drive my husband crazy because I am always planning the next meal before the one we are eatting is over. If I plan, I don't worry about not eatting healthy. Also I suggest keeping a food diary, I use the one on lap band but also keep a paper diary in my purse, I write down everything I eat, I want to know what I am putting in my mouth, it keeps me on track. Good luck with your fill, you will notice a difference, make sure you chew chew and chew your food after the fill. What I could eat before a fill and after are different. I don't do well in mornings and breakfast during the week is a protein shake, I can do breakfast on weekends but the atomosphere is more relaxed and I am not rushed to get to a meeting. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much~ I am really trying to focus on protein for sure I am eating about 50 g a day and hope now that i am gradually eating more solids this will increase. I also journal all my food including water and non calorie drinks (even ketchup  I travel a TON with my job and am a tad concerned with making the right choices on the road

  5. My first fill date is July 19th - although right now I am just starting solids I am only consuming 600 or less caloires a day it is hard when you are eatign mushies to eat much more than that in staying with the guideline of 1/2- 1 cup of food max per sitting - I feel satisfied for the most part - however last night my husband made me a small hamburger - I ate small bites with LOTS of ketchup and chewed completly!!! I did find I was FULL by the time I finished the burger - I am hoping this maintains as I add additional solids to my meals..any suggestions on what to start with for lunches? I seem to get hungriest between lunch and supper (most lunches have just been soups?? And I have been excersising 6 xa a week ince day 5 of surgery -- Since I am (according to my food tracker Sparkspeople) I am burnign more calories than I am consuming will I still lose weight? I hear you do not...I am trying to do everything the right way to use this bnad as the tool it was meant to be..any and all suggestions would be appreciated

  6. I am 7 days post op - Went to my follow up today and they said I can start slowly to mushies ... it does take me awhile as well to feel full but I am thinking with such small portions of shakes, soup.sugar free jello your going to feel hungry pretty quick...I can't beleve you were able to eat a hamburger! that is awesome
