  1. I hated that! It will take a week or so. I found warmer liquids went down easier. It does get easier to swallow later but it sure feels weird when you thru this phase.
  2. Yep! Shocking isn't it? The first time I made a plate of mushie food I thought I was going really small. I could only eat a couple of bites. It will be that way until your tummy rids itself of all the swelling. Small meals more times thru out the day is what works for me.
  3. We could start a weekly weigh in plus any updates...sv, nsv, rants, raves, etc? Are Saturdays a good day?
  4. I like the Syntrax samples...esp Road Side Lemonaide...yum!
  5. Does everyone want to stay connected as a group? If so, do you want to check in weekly? Monthly? On a certain day? Or not at all?
  6. Ok, I haved whined about this before and I am taking generic zofran. But this is getting so tiresome! I wanted to restriction from the sleeve not constant nausea everytime I eat. How long does this last!? I am getting really sick and tired of it. I went to Walmart and dry heaved...that was lovely. i have to travel for my job and this is getting very old.
  7. Remember it was not me who was sleeved there. It was a person from gastricsleeve.com that goes by rock22. Dr. Almanza came by the next day but really if it is too be stopped Dr. Almanza's patients are going to need to throw a fuss. I know I would!
  8. There have been 2 posts in the last couple of days of stealing from the recovery house and now an armed robbery. Please, I understand the need for selfpay. I am a selfpay. But there are other and safer places to go to than the recovery house from Dr. Almanza. I will copy the post from the gastricsleeve.com forum below. Firsts: Sleeve, Mexico, Getting robbed at gunpoint I had my surgery Aug 27 with Dr. Almanza... Wonderful experience with the staff. Especially Osiel, the night nurse, really wonderful... no English though, which was fun for me to practice. We all moved to the Recovery House Sunday around noon. I hadn't even slept two hours before I turned over uncomfortably wishing the masseuse would get there. A man came into our room; asked if we were doing ok; walked out. I let one of the two ladies in the room know what he had said (since it was in Spanish) and she commented that she had never seen the gentleman before... I didn't think anything of it... Not more than two minutes later another guy walked in... this guy was wearing all black like our drivers - he even went as far as to wearing the little bag around him as the drivers do... He topped off his look with a surgical mask and P22. Now, I realize it's not a big gun... but try being crazy uncomfortable, just waking up, hardly wearing anything, and without your glasses when that happens! It was surreal when he came in with that gun. I actually asked him what the hell was going on! Dumb... he pointed that thing at me. He asked for money and cell phones. The three of us in the room didn't have much but we were pretty compliant as he walked around the room calmly while pointing the gun at us asking for those items. I gave him my phone after a few minutes... I dug in my bag when his back was turned to push my wallet lower... he turned and saw me and again pointed the gun at me. I pulled out a shirt and made to put it on just so he wouldn't know what I had actually done... nausea... after spitting a few times and between (for sympathy) pleading that I really had nothing else to give, he walked over to me and handed me my sweater which was decidedly easier to put on rather than a shirt... Nice guy. After the first armed robber came back in our room and gave our gracious armed robber something to tie one of us up... he did... walked around asking and pointing again... then left. He never went through our bags. There were three of us, two of which weren't tied up... but we're so weak at this point it would have been easy... Five other ladies were tied up in the house, including the nurse. After it all.... nobody was hurt. Stuff was stolen, but really, it's just stuff... My thoughts?... 1. Inside Job - these two knew the only men in the house had left. They got into the gated community. They wore similar clothes as everyone we'd had contact with so far... or 2. Those guys were super smooth and cased the joint for a while before making their move... You decide. I felt like when the guys "in charge" of the recovery house got back they were a little... let's say... insincere. We were all taken back to the clinic and left by noon the next day - a day sooner than most. Surgery went well. I'm doing well (even after a 22 hour drive back home). Everyday is easier and I'm still happy with my decision to have the surgery... and since I've survived my first armed robbery I guess you could say I'm stronger for the experience! I couldn't have afforded a State Side Surgery so this still was a good choice for me. Be careful though... no matter where you are!
  9. Remember....sugar free popsicles are your FRIEND!!! I still use them to get my liquids in and I am a month out!
  10. Wishing y'all a safe and smooth surgery and recovery experience. You will have some ups and downs but in the end you will be glad you did it! Good luck and best wishes!
  11. hey all checking back in on the last day of the month. Down 14.5lbs yippee! But still having nausea and diarrhea issues. But I also have a rare liver disease so I guess it could be a combo thing. Just something I will have to manage even though Iam tired of it. But I am glad I had the surgery. Starting walking again this week and trying to track my food and get my protein in. Trying not to be hard on myself and just take it one day at a time.
  12. Ha ha! that's great Sue! You rock! I have been measuring my pouch from the belly button down just to see when it will get smaller! LOL!
  13. I have been dealing with nausea since week three. My doc is 2 1/2 hours away too. I called and asked what they would advise and he ordered me anti nausea meds. Call the office up and explain what is going on so they can help you. Then that way when you do go in they can do a followup
  14. Not much you can do but stay on top of your pain meds. Sip,Sip,Sip, walk, rest, repeat. Keeping up on your pain meds and staying hydrated are your first priorites. Good luck!
  15. Libbe, I feel your pain sista! I remember looking so forward to pureeds and found out it was not much fun. Still having a bit of a rough go 3 weeks out. Went back on the PPI today. Keep in mind that the PPI will slow your intestinal trac down so you might have constipation problems later on. Make sure you get some yogurt in or if you are having trouble with yogurt you can get "pearls" at cvc, walgreens, etc. They are tiny pills that equal a yogurt. I am tired of running to the bathroom right after I eat and having the loose stools. I travel for a living so I have to be extra careful. It was certainly no fun at all on my flight home Tuesday. Normally I travel by car thankgoodness
  16. I am starting to get discouraged cuz I still can only eat soups, cheese, popsicles, etc. I am tired of having the big D. Just had to fly to Seattle from KC and back and it really sucks having to run to the bathroom all the time. When is this suppose to end?

We wish you a safe and smooth surgery and recovery. Keep us posted as you feel up to it! Any questions or encouragement please remember we are here for you!
  18. Thanks for checking in guys! I was sleeved on the 1st. Yes I know that pain in the front of chest all too well. What a bother that was and sometimes still is. And the "peeing out the hiney" definately gets old. Just finally got past that 2 days ago. Now I am dealing with "the stall" which is a pain. I know it will end but I guess what makes it so difficult is that you go thru all the emotions of getting ready for the surgery. Then you go thru the surgery and all the pain and discomfort. The first week is great for weight loss and that certainly makes up for the recovery but then when you hit the stall it is like dang! I am still recovering and I need that scale to move to help me feel better. Oh well, this too shall pass. Good luck everyone as you continue your recovery!
  19. I like this explanation. It makes more sense. I was sleeved on the 1st and I am in the stall phase too so I appreciate the post.

If you have not had a chance to check in please do so when you feel up to it! Take care and Sip,Sip,Sip, walk, rest, repeat!
  21. Thanks! Today has been the best day so far this last week. Went shopping with my daughter and we had fun. Not so nauseous today thank goodness but still have to be very careful when I eat or drink. Lost inches even tho I have not lost weight recently so I am happy with that!
  22. Congrats you guys! Welcome to the loser's bench!
  23. I was August 1st and down 10.5lbs and have stayed there for the last 5-6 days. That's okay I know it will change. Had doc get me some antinausea pills last Tuesday. So now I am able to keep things down better. finally got a walk in today. Now I am trying to get my liquids in...thank goodness for popsicles.
  24. Glad they were able fix everything while they were in there. Sip,walk(when able)rest & repeat. Take it easy!
