Staples being removed?
Staple removal shouldl be pain free. You might feel a bit of a tug but other than that should be pretty smooth.

Words of wisdom requested
Preop is rough ( I am just starting) but it is for a short period of time and the reward is so worth it! Try to hang tought. Have you wrote out your 12 things you look forward to doing or reasons why you are doing this? If you have not I suggest you do. It will help thru the preop and postop phase. Good luck!

I know the feeling!! And right after I found out my surgery date I was soooo excited. But then time stood still! But now that I am into my final week of preop the clock has started to speed up. It's like oh crud! Do I have everything? I still need to pick this up and that up and get this done cuz I will be recovering...So don't be surprised when the clock kicks in!

All-Stars Preo-op diet thread
Kami Thanks for the receipe sharing for broth. I have never made it (always used canned) and was wondering how to. I am going to try and make some this weekend. Today I am starting out on Medifast just to get into gear. I have been overeating alot lately with food funerals and I think I am done. Ready to get this under control. Not scared about surgery...had enough rounds of surgery I know how my body handles it. Just looking forward to becoming "unchained" to hunger. Mini Mermaid..each surgeon has their own protocol for preop. Probably based on how they were trained. My preop is only 2 days before surgery of clear liquids but I want to transition my body so that is why I am doing MF this week. The other doc in the same practice requires his patients do a 2 week. Good luck All Stars as we move closed to August! We can do this!!!!!

Meme...thanks for starting this post..it is a great idea now that we are headed into August! My doc only requires a 2 day preop liquid diet. However, I will start using up my leftover Medifast this week to get me into gear. I would take 5 MF meals and one lean & green. My 2 day preop is which starts next Saturday is... Day 1...Start clear liquid, low sugar diet. The dollowing liquids can be taken in any amount since they do not contain sugar. sugar free fruit flavored Water, decaf tea, & water broth, sugar free Jell-O & SF Popsicles low carb Protein drink-1-2 each day Day 2.. Clear liquids until end of day, same as above 1 10oz bottle of Magnewium Citrate between 1-4pm Nothing after Midnight

Potassium Deficiency
Just a quick overview of the importance of Potassium. Importance of Potassium in human body: Potassium is a very important mineral that helps us feel and be healthy everyday. Potassium is found inside the human body cells (also found outside the body cells in very small quantity of about 2-3% of total Potassium contents of the body). Potassium plays an important role in smooth muscular and cellular functioning, cardiovascular functioning, muscle contractions, nerve transmission, in conversion of glucose into glycogen and muscle building etc. Potassium in body is necessary to monitor and regulate aldosterone (hormone found in human body). It also plays an important role of a catalyst for many types of enzymes inside the human body, in other terms; it helps in spawning many important chemical reactions inside human body. It is believed by many people (doctors) that Potassium helps in improving ATP hydrolysis. Potassium is called Natural Diuretic as it easily gets absorbed by our body and almost 85-90% of it is excreted from our bowels and kidneys (urine). Because of its alkaline property, it is a very important mineral which helps our body system to maintain of pH level balanced and also to maintain proper level of Water inside body. The most important function of Potassium in human body is to keep blood pressure under control and help in intra-cellular nutrient transfer. It also helps in keeping acne, some type of allergies, fatigue, kidney stones etc. problems at bay. It is very important to take healthy and Potassium rich diet everyday in order to keep our body functioning properly and feel healthy.

I'm going nuts!
I agree with the other posters and encourage you to seek out your family doc or some other doc (maybe even Bari) for your follow up. Alot of the info you can get here or Obesity Help. However, you will need to have your blood draws done to check your Vitamin levels. A good Multivitamin with Iron should cover it but it is best to make sure. Good luck on your surgery and keep us posted. Oh and by the way..mine is just around the corner and I am constantly on the boards with either my laptop or my phone.
