My insurance might require me a 1 year diet!
Wow, that is a bummer. But as Tiffy said - use it to get ready for your life after the sleeve. It will be worth all the effort.

Realize mySuccess
When I met with my surgeon, he mentioned that Realize has an online tool called Realize mySuccess that has a number of useful features to it. I'm wondering if anyone else has used this?

"Honeymoon" stage
Losing 2-3 pounds a week is great! And you have already lost 50 pounds! That is really awesome! Look at what you have already accomplished. It's easy to focus on the negative, but that won't help. All it will do is lead to depression and make it easier to fall back into your old, bad habits. So what you haven't lost 100 pounds yet. So what you aren't loosing 10 pounds a week. Is it really the end of the world? No. The fact is everyone will lose weight differently. It probably took you YEARS to get to your starting weight. It won't come off overnight. Focus on the positive and what you have already accomplished. Celebrate that victory! Revel in the fact that you have lost 50 pounds that will NEVER RETURN. Glory in the fact you are learning new healthier habits that you can follow for the rest of your life. Know the weight is coming off due to all of this hard work that you are putting into making your tool work for you. Sorry if that sounds harsh - especially from someone who hasn't been sleeved yet. But I know I'll probably end up saying some of the things you had in your post - and when I do, I hope someone will take the time to tell me this stuff to keep me on the straight and narrow as it were.

How much do u stick to ur program
I plan to stick to the plan 100%. I am self-pay and would never forgive myself if after paying all that money to have a tool put in place so that I can permanently loose the weight, then I don't follow through with it and end up wasting my hard earned money spent on the procedure and all the time/effort that I am going through to learn better habits. Yes, it will be difficult. Yes, it will be very tempting to fall back into my bad habits. But I can't. Not if I want to permanently loose this weight and get myself into better health.

Just Getting Started
Hi Meg and welcome to the forums. The psych eval is a standard procedure from the research that I have done. I wouldn't worry about it. I have mine coming up in 20 days - maybe I'll change my mind about it then. Congratulations on making the decision to have the sleeve done.

checked in at 5 this morning, officially sleeved
Congrats on a successful surgery! Sorry to hear you are in pain. Don't be afraid to ask for more pain meds and keep walking since that seems to help. I hope you get feeling better soon. Thank you for posting.

Job Interview...Should I mention I'm having surgery
Congrats on getting an interview! That's a tough one. I've always found it best to be "honest" about things like this. I wouldn't necessarily say you are having bariatric surgery, but let them know that you would need a couple of weeks off due to needing a medical procedure done wouldn't be out of the question. That way they will know that you need the time off if they want you to start immediately.

The Importance of feeding myself.
It's always a good idea to carry snacks for that just in case situation. I usually have a cooler in the car as well to keep water cool. I've been doing this for a few years due to being diabetic. Sounds like it should be a good thing to continue...

In Mexicali!
Even though I am not going to Mexico to have my surgery, I really do appreciate Renee sharing her experience because it could happen ANYWHERE. I know from personal experience that if my sister (a rather knowledgeable nurse) had not stayed on top of certain things, my mom would have ended up dead thanks to a couple of incompetent doctors/nurses here in the USA. As someone who has not had the sleeve done yet, I am thankful for posts like this. I want to know the good AND the bad. It plays into my decision. It also reminds me of things that I do need to discuss with my surgeon. Let's face it, it's hard to remember everything that needs to be discussed, and having posts like this helps to jog my memory and talk to him about it. I'm sorry that Renee had such a hard time of things, but I am glad that she decided to share with us her very personal experience so that we could learn from it.
