  1. Wow, you look terrific! Congrats on your weight loss so far!
  2. Good luck and congratulations!
  3. My cousin just had her surgery at Hurley in Flint and is doing fine. Although, I don't know who her surgeon was. I would contact your insurance to find out for sure if you would be self pay or not. Every insurance policy is different - even from the same company. For example, I am going to be self-pay but that is because any type of weight loss regimen is specifically EXcluded from my BCBS PPOM policy. But several others on here have coverage for that benefit. They should be able to tell you without having to go through all of the formalities of submitting. That way you can find out what they cover, what they do not, and any requirements they may have before meeting with your surgeon.
  4. Congratulations on your weight loss so far! That is really inspiring. I would talk to your doctors and dietician about the remaining 59 pounds. The research that I have done seems to indicate that your body will stop naturally at the weight that that is "normal" for you. But, everyone is different.
  5. Like so many others, I have decided to create a video blog of my weight loss. The link is in my signature. Feel free to check it out if you wish.
  6. Congratulations! It's great to hear how much you have lost. What a great accomplishment! It gives me hope...
  7. I'm really impressed with your willpower! I just hope to have half that willpower when I go through this.
  8. I hope you get feeling better sooner rather than later. Thank you for sharing your experience.
  9. Congratulations to both of you. Glad your experiences have been good.
  10. Welcome to the forum and good luck!
  11. Glad the procedure went well and you are starting to feel a bit better. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hopefully that will be your last "hurdle" on the healing road.
  12. http://vsgfaq.wordpress.com/ That website has a LOT of information on it about the surgery, but there is also a section that has links to 5 or 6 different "diet guides" from around the country from doctors that perform the procedure. If your doctor/dietician didn't give you specifics, these might help. I would also check with them just to be sure.
  13. Glad to hear he is doing well after the surgery. I hope he continues to do well and learns to LISTEN to those who know better...
  14. Congratulations on reaching your half-way point. That is awesome! Thank you also for sharing. Have fun with your shopping trip!
  15. Yes, Dreamfields is low carb pasta. It's marketed for diabetics (that's how I found it). http://www.dreamfieldsfoods.com/
  16. Wow, that's terrific. It's a good thing you didn't loose the wedding rings when they went flying though! Congratulations!
  17. Thanks Marie. I hope it goes well too. I don't have the date yet, but will probably get it when I see the doc on the 27th of June. At least that's what I am hoping.
  18. I'm from Michigan too, but on the other side of the state in Clio - although I'm mostly living in Cincinnati now. Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you are doing great! Thanks for posting.
  19. Sounds like you are doing great! Thank you for posting. Keep up the good work!
  20. I'm sorry you have been having a rough time of it. But I wanted to thank you for posting it too. I'm in the beginning stages of this journey, so I am interested in reading people's experiences with it. I have to admit, after I initially read the posts yesterday, I really started to have second thoughts about doing this. But after a night of soul searching and watching some videos on YouTube, I have decided to go ahead with it. But I'm still thankful for your post as it did help me in many ways. As far as your work situation, I agree with what some of the others said - document everything. Keep a log/journal of all of these types of comments that your boss says. I would also get in touch with the labor board in your state and see what they might say about it. What it sounds like from the little that was posted is your boss is using discrimination based on your weight and medical condition. That's illegal. Your state's labor board can give you further information about how to proceed with him. I have worked with the labor board on a situation in the past, so I know they should be able to help you as well.
  21. I haven't had my surgery yet, and it's been about 15 years since my fiance broke up with me. He broke up with me the day after my birthday and the day before I started final exams for college. I had already started to picture our life together and was making plans for it. It was devastating. It was a good thing I had decent grades going into the finals because I was a mess at the time. What I hated the most is people would tell me that it was for the best, and that I would find someone else ("plenty of fish in the sea"). So, I won't tell you all of that. I will say that it will eventually get better, because I know it does. It just takes time. What I did after that was threw myself into my school work, and "real" work. After school was over, I did volunteer activities. Basically, I did stuff for me. That, in the end, is what I think got me through that tough time. Now, I can't imagine my life being any different. I'm still single, but I love my life the way it is. Please know that you are not alone in this. We're all here to support each other. I can't count on my family for support as they have never supported my weight loss efforts in the past and I know they are against me having a surgery to correct it. I have to travel 100% for work, so having close friends is virtually impossible for me. So, yes, I am making this journey by myself. Yes, it's tough. But I know I am tougher. My point is you are not alone in this. In the short time I've been in these forums, I know this is a very supportive community, so you have come to the right place. We can help each other through this journey to bettering our health.
