  1. Walking made the real difference. You start moving around, and the pressure releases. I had a burst of energy afterwards. The only pain was a sore throat for me but, I was also fighting a head cold at the same time. Good luck and congrats!
  2. Good chant, Mandagay! I will be repeating it all day, everyday! I'm a month out and want to eat and eat and eat......

I had a head cold going into surgery, and an extremely sore throat for about a week after. Don't know if it was coinsidence or not. Either way, it was gone in a week.

Oh wow, I am in the same boat. Surgery 4/19/12, lost 21lbs. Gained back 4, and have absolutly NO RESTRICTION! UGH :...(
  5. Glad you asked, I was wondering the same thing.
  6. My insurance would not cover for the nurse practitioner. That may be the problem. I had to see the actual dr the whole time. Even though they cover for nurse practitioner on everything else, just not for this surgery, go figure. I hope it all works out for you. I wish I could've had it done at 18, instead of 38. Life would've been so so different. Good Luck!
  7. They have to have a date to submit to insurance.
  8. About 2 weeks after surgery, now no problem.
  9. I am newly banded and still on mushies. I am lovin the cajun 15 bean soup mixed with some canned chicken. Great ideas everyone. To drink I make homemade lemonade with splenda. The tart lemons cover the sweetner taste.
  10. Praying for God to give you peace. I was banded on the 19th. It was so easy. You will do great. Your next post wil be of a banded lady, yay!
  11. I was banded on the 19th also, down 20 lbs. Congrats on your victory. I haven't change pants size yet, hopefully tha will be next for me.
  12. I don't know...I would think the lapband with the proper fill is where the weight is supposed to come off from. I too got the band to stop with all the other garbage. I sweated like a pig the whole time I was taking adipex. I think I would cry if the dr. suggested this to me. I don't think I would do it. Call your doc and tell them how you feel about this.
  13. I went to a seminar and made an appt w the surgeon there. The insurance lady at the surgeons checked with my insurance and gave me a list of everything I needed to do.
  14. Walmart carries papaya enzymes now too.
  15. ROLL TIDE! I'm from Alabama too. I was just banded myself on March 19th. The Atkins shakes tasted best to me, the worst was Muscle Milk. Everyone has their own preference I guess. My nutritionist said to make sure they have more than 100 calories or you won't feel full. Goodluck!
  16. Yay! Congratulations!
  17. You are seeing something I honestly don't see alot of on here. For the most part people on here tell you like it is and correct you if you are wrong. Thats why I love this site. There are occasionally times that people will encourage you to get back on the wagon, its not the same as incouraging wrong behavior. If someone on here tells publically how they are going against what their dr advices or whats good for the band, than they obviously are wanting our help and you should voice your thoughts on the matter if it can help them correct it. If they didn't want ALL our opinions then they wouldn't post to EVERYONE. Thats how I see it, anyways. Don't let a few bad apples taint the whole basket.
  18. Welcome to this site! I too was banded on the 19th. This site has provided so much info. If I have any questions I just go to the different topics already listed or ask. The people here are so friendly and helpful! Hope to hear updates from you on your journey. Kelly
  19. Yay, and Good Luck! You definitly inspired me!
  20. #Losin, Congrats! J, how did you lose the 10 since the 20th? My surgery was the 19th, I lost about 8 right off the bat, but gained back 3 since I started my full liquids.
  21. I forgot about the pre-op when my aunt brought in little ceasars. I was on my second slice when I remembered. However, the doc said my liver looked good so it had no ill effect on me.
  22. Bypass wouldn't change your craving. Two friends had bypass, one is doing awesome, lost the weight and does all hes supposed to. The other hasn't hardly lost any and even though sweets make her sick at first, she eats past it. Every wls is what you make it. Good luck!
  23. Thank you so much. I was just banded, and your words were very incouraging.
  24. I was banded on the 19th. Walking was the best thing for me. It made a real difference. If your pain meds make you sick, call your doc to get something for nausea. I did, it helps alot!
  25. I am so glad you brought this up! I was banded on the 19th and lost about 8 lbs. I wasn't drinking hardly anything bc I was afraid to gain. Well the last two days I've drank my protein and soups, and gained back 3 lbs. I am a lil disappointed in this. But from everything I've read on here, we are not supposed to be losing until we are off the post op diets and on to our new lapband eating habits! Good Luck to you.
