Sore Throat Post Op

it can be normal up to a week for throat sensitivity get some chloraseptic spray. dont forget to mention to doctor on 1st post-op visit soo he can check it out

I'm 2 days past surgury. No sore throat but the gas is terrible. I feel so bloated.

I had a head cold going into surgery, and an extremely sore throat for about a week after. Don't know if it was coinsidence or not. Either way, it was gone in a week.

Thanks everyone for our responses...My throat was so sore I thought it might have been strep..went to an urgent care center...it wasn't strep, they gave me some antibiotics and I will continue to spray and gurgle...thanks everyone for your feedback....

During surgery they place a tube down (intubation) your throat to maintain an airway while your under for surgery. It's common for ones throat to be sore afterwards. My throat was a little sore a couple days, but it finally went away.

I would also say it was probably the tube down the throat.

It's most likely irritation from the intubation (putting the tube down your throat). When you drink something cold, can you feel it go all the way down through your chest? I've had that happen after a few surgeries. Weird feeling! The soreness goes away after a few days but the cold feeling can stay a while.

at Jen 1381, no not really. but drinking something cold really helped. I think it was more of an infection from the cold...nothing helped, when i say nothing, i mean nothing....i had to tough it out. the antibiotics are working slowly, it is not as bad, but still bad...I had an ear ache to boot. thanks for the advice and all the comments...
