  1. I smoked for over 25 years- last September while I was contemplating wls- I bought a few e-cigs and began to slowly switch over - after I went to the seminar for my group the doctor said he absolutely would not do surgery on anyone who smoked and they had to be quit for 3 months before the sleeve and 6 for bypass. So I switched over totally to the ecig 2 months before my consult appointment. When I went in for my appointment he asked me if I was using nicotine liquid or 0mg liquid. I said Nicotine liquid- he said.. it's the same as smoking as far as nicotine in the system which constricts the blood vessels and slows healing and he said I'd have to quit for the 3 months prior or 6 months if I wanted the rny- So- I switched to the non nicotine and kept vaping with that until I felt strong enough to put it down- Because honestly just having the hand to mouth option even with out nicotine was helpful- better than nothing- In the end- I had to decide which was more important- getting the surgery- or risking the testing showing continine in my bloodwork..which my doctor said they tested for right before surgery and would cause my surgery to be canceled. I worked too hard to get to my surgery date to be denied on account of nicotine showing up in my system.
  2. Hi and Welcome :welcome:
  3. You look fantastic! Way to go!
  4. Welcome to those of your posting post op. I'm about 2 weeks out and doing good. Glad you are here and hope to read about your journey.
  5. Glad to hear that you are home and sleeved..wooo hooo!
  6. Congrats on getting your date! I dealt with nervousness and worry by preparing as best I could- that gave me a bit of feeling of control over the situation. I read lots of surgery stories, articles and medical information about my surgery with out causing myself to worry more- and I did some things to make life easier while I was gone and upon return home like - caught up on housework and made sure the kitchen was organized with all of my post op stuff- made arrangements for the kids and prayed that God would see me through the actual surgery- I made some friends here while I was stalking all the pre and post op posts- that helped a lot- and Everything went very well - I'm recovering nicely at 13 days post op and YOU WILL TOO!
  7. What a fantastic year it has been for you! Way to Go!!

  10. Yeah- I love reading your posts- so down to earth and honest- I appreciate it- especially your sense of humour. Can't wait till you have the baby and share pics with us- No worries- you will be wearing your cute sexy clothes before you know it :preggers:
  11. My surgery was the 8th and I'm down 16 lbs combined total of the 1 pre op and after surgery weight. So that's 16 lbs down since September 1st. Doing pretty good on eating- trying to get my fluids and protein shakes down but the protein powder is more difficult post surgery for me it seems. I have a lot of heart burn too and my doctor called me in a prescription for something - so hoping that will help some. Incisions all look good- took the last remaining steri strips off this morning- I'm impressed with how small they are. Glad everyone else is doing good.
  12. Will be keeping you in thought and waiting for updates.
  13. Congrats on getting your date. Whhoooo Hooo! :clap2: :car:
  14. Prayers for you- and keep us posted on what happens next- God bless you
  15. Hi Deb from Mass. Congrats on your surgery! Hope you get to feeling better soon and some things that might be helpful for you to check while you are adjusting and healing are your Fluid and Protein intake. Lack of those can make you feel nauseous, and weak. I know it's hard early out to get the fluids in while recovery from major surgery in addition- Also check to see if you are on an acid reducer. Hope those ideas help a bit- and there are many people here my senior on vsg who might offer more helpful ideas to check on.
  16. Yes!~ Do it- for yourself- even if you have to do it alone.
  17. Best wishes on your surgery!
  18. Are you taking an acid reducer? Some people have mentioned feeling hunger when they are in need of an acid reducer. My doctor has me on prilosec but I can take prevacid as an alternative option. both are available over the counter. Might want to ask your doctor if you aren't on one if that might be the cause.
  19. Hey Congrats! Fantastic News for the weekend eh?
  20. I had surgery 1 week ago today. I'm down 15 lbs since the pre op diet.
  21. I'm on day 6 post op and today has been my best day - I haven't used any gas x strips today. I do have to take the pepcid 2 x a day - it helps.
