  1. Congratulations- you look amazing and very healthy. Way to go!
  2. I drink a venti skinny peppermint mocha 4-5 times a week and have since about 8 weeks post op.
  3. I can eat most everything but I've found that heavily breaded items like breaded shrimp from tgi fridays and heavily breaded chicken are hard on my stomach- makes me nauseous.
  4. I've been using the sugar free french vanilla by international delight since about 4 weeks post op. I'm nearly 7 mos post op - no problems staying low carb- I use it nearly every day- several times a day- liberally even.
  5. Awesome! Congrats!
  6. I got to 3 months post op and thought maybe I'd bypass the hair loss- but by 4 months it started falling out. Not in chunks or anything but I suddenly noticed a lot of hair accumilating in my hair brush and when I washed my hair I noticed that more than a few strands came out in my hands. I'm 6 months out and still losing- my thick curly hair is much thinner- and duller looking. I'm taking iron, biotin and b-12 and a multivitamin along with additional suppliments. I expect it will stop in the next month or so. In the meantime I've just been enjoying being able to more easily style my hair in the straight flat hair do that is popular right now- and I don't wash it every day like I always have- I go a day or two between washes- and use the dry shampoo to freshen it up- to try to keep from tugging and mussing with it so much.
  7. Congrats on getting to Onederland. I just hit there myself this week. Feels great!
  8. I was a pepsi addict before surgery. Haven't had a single one since last summer- however, I did come down with a tummy bug some weeks before Christmas and I had some flat diet ginger ale- I really have never cared for any kind of diet soda pop but my stomach did ok with the diet ginger ale and I felt better the the next day. It's not something I would encourage others to do but for me- it was ok and I think it was better to have something in my stomach that I could keep down. My normal daily beverages consist of alkaline water- I prefer the Evamor and a morning decaf coffee or tea with stevia sweetener.
  9. I don't often feel hunger- but I can tell when I need something to eat- I feel a bit dizzy or light headed. I eat about every 3 hours, high protein, low carb food such as 4 pieces of shrimp, 3 hours later about an ounce and a half of chicken breast or steak. For a snack I might have a few pork rinds. I drink mostly water but on occasion I have decaf tea or coffee with stevia and sugar free creamer. I can eat more if I eat slider foods or carbs but those tend to have a rebound effect of increased craving for more. If I stay on track tho, I'm very satisfied with my mini meals even if they aren't complete meals by most traditional standards.
  10. Today is my 3 month surgiversary- if I include the weight I lost with the pre op diet the week before surgery- I've lost a total of 68 lbs in 3 months. I do mostly low carb but treat myself once in a while to a bite of whatever I want.
  11. Fantastic letter! Glad you have gotten supportive responses from your friends.
  12. Fabulous! Way to go! :biggrinjester:
  13. Sept. 8, 2011 Lost 54 lbs since surgery or 60 if I include weight-loss on the pre op diet
  14. I had a teeny piece of my brothers Deep Fried Turkey about one teaspoon sized- one same sized portion of my Father's smoked turkey- a very teensy bite of ham, 1 teaspoonful of green been casserole and one tiny bite of this wonderful gluten free homemade apple loaf. Then I splurged and had 2 tiny sips of some sparkling grape juice which went down ok- to my surprise- but I left it sit in the ice for a long time before I tasted it. And I lost another 2 lbs since day before yesterday which broke my 1 week stall- when I went out of town to visit my friend at the spinal cord rehab facility and had a really hard time finding low carb/high protein foods. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
  15. I'm 2 months out today and I tried salad for the first time. I got a salad from subway and ate about 1/10 of the salad and all of the meat. It took me all day long- but so far no symptoms with my tummy and actually before surgery my tummy was a little sensitive when I ate a lot of lettuce but I seem to be feeling fine and boy was that salad good. First one I've had since August.
  16. I like to stay in ketosis. I check every day with the dip sticks. Unless I go over 45 carbs I'm steady with ketosis and it does help my weight loss. I go into a stall for a few days if I eat too many and then it takes me a good 2-3 days to get back in and the weight loss kicks right in. Also, the smell is always described as fruity but to me it smells like gasoline. It's a weird kind of smell for sure.
  17. Fantastic- you look awesome!
  18. The two main types of e-liquid are known as PG Propylene Glycol – used in food flavorings and also in fog machines at nightclubs to produce the smoke appearance and VG Vegetable Glycerin which is more syrupy and is derived from vegetables. Generally the PG has a better throat hit and flavor than VG while VG can produce a little more vapor. PG is the most common e-liquid on the market today. PG is the standard generic Fluid used in most mixes and is ~80% of a standard fluid mix . VG is sometimes used but not common. When some have an allergic reaction to PG (~3% of folks) VG is an option when buying fluid. In stock carto's however it isn't available in mass if at all (that I know of). VG is generally thinned down with a 5% alcohol base since it is thicker, but the advantage is it has an increased vapor over PG. It also is blamed for a softening of throat hit (as it's called dumb term, but..) and flavor. Because of that many don't like using VG, due to the softening , many mix match to get a balance and added vapor (say a 50/50% mix). VG is sweeter as well. VG is thinned with alcohol, but not in a large percentage (above). A 24 mix can be cut """but """ at the expense of flavor. So if you cut your 24mg in half with a 50% mix of (either)VG or PG, you of course get a 12mg but you also lose half the flavoring content. Best to buy a matching fluid in (say) 12mg and cut 50/50 , getting 18mg end product, with the same flavor. See the methodology ? 19. Raine- how is it bothering your mouth? Some people are sensitive to the pg- versus vg type liquids-
