Failing pre-op diet
Nysha- My pre-op diet consisted of SF jello, SF Popsicles, Carbmaster Yogurt from Kroger not to exceed 2 per day and avoiding bits and pieces of fruit within the yogurt, Lowfat, Low sodium Broth, Water, SF pudding- and protein shakes not to exceed 20 grams of protein on the pre-op. With 64 or more fluids total per day. Each Doctor seems to have their own Pre-op requirements so you must follow what your surgeons are. At my pre-op class we were told that if anyone gained weight from their first visit to the group- that their surgery would be cancelled because it showed lack of dedication needed to proceed with surgery. I'm not sure what your groups guidelines are but you might want to check it out.

Wine and pre op
You'd have to look up the carb content but yes it will hinder your pre op diet- so will the vicodin. You are trying to shrink your liver before surgery to reduce risk of injury to it- and both alcohol and vicodin are not conducive to shrinking the liver by any means. You really would be endangering yourself to not go off both of those before surgery.

Tomorrow Is My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Day And I'm Second Guessing Myself.....
You are going to be fine. You are just nervous and with good reason- because this is your first surgery- but I'm sure you are going to be just fine and we will see you on the losers bench. You've worked real hard to get to this point and tomorrow is YOUR day! I'm so excited for you. Tomorrow when you get to the hospital and meet the anesthesiologist tell them you are nervous and it's your first surgery. They may give you something to help with the jitters. We'll be waiting here for updates when you are able.

4 days post-op and RAVENOUS....is this normal???
I found that I could put almost a full scoop of unjury powder into a 6 oz container of carbmaster yogurt. I can't eat 6 oz of yogurt at one time tho- so I just split it and store in another container so I can have more later in the day. Unjury vanilla protein has 20 grams of protein per scoop.

Pre-Op Usuals
My pre op was 7 days of clear liquids- That's water, low sodium, fat free broth, Sugar Free Popsicles and Sugar Free Jello. 6oz Carbmaster yogurt with protein no more than 2 per day and sugar free tea, coffee, crystal light, and other diet non carbonated beverages with no fat, no sugar.

Does anyone have days where drinking water is really hard?
I'm 3 days post op- and I'm having one of those days today. I feel like I'm drowning in here- my stomach is sooo full and sloshy- a few times with out even burping- the water I drank just rose right back up in to the back of my throat..eww.. but I'm definitely feeling FULL. I took a break from water and forced myself to eat a few Popsicles because I don't want to get dehydrated. Hope you get to feeling better.

I Knew it.....DENIED!
You would need to ask your insurance company how many appeals they offer but I'm aware they often they want the info within a specific time framelike as an example 10 days - to add to current request but as an example- 30 days with an appeal. Every insurance company is different those examples are for mine insurance company. Stay strong and focused even if it takes a bit of time. Keep us updated. Hope all goes well.

Will be joining you all tomorrow, yay!

To redress or leave exposed- drain incision site?
I guess I'm feeling a little fuzzy this morning. I want to take a shower and wash my hair and I remember my doctor said I could do that - he said tomorrow..when you take a shower.. as I was being discharged.. I'm trying to remember what he said about this dressing over my drain incision. I think he said to take it off- and to be honest it's coming off already on one side and I can see that some drainage has taken place but- I can't remember if he said to redress it- or just leave it off exposed to air. Anyone have suggestions- if I can't recall or find his instructions with my paper work- I will call much later this morning-

Suffering from major Insomnia! Please Help!
It's 3:55 am- my first night back home from the hospital- I'm up.. I barely slept for more than 1 hour stretches post op until last night- I slept from 11pm - 3am.

considering the surgery but scared to death!!
I'm 3 days post op- Was released from the hospital yesterday. I don't have any regrets so far- I mean it hasn't been effort free by any means- but the struggles I've endured so far have been bearable- and everyday seems to get better.

Swelling?
I came home from the hospital earlier today. I feel pretty good- no complaints to speak of except that I feel so full it's hard to get my fluids in- I did notice this evening that my lower abdomen seems swollen - more than it was when I got home- that's probably pretty normal considering we had surgery but I was wondering if anyone else noticed it when they got home? My incisions all look good from what I can see under the steri strips.

Doctors PISS ME OFF!
I wonder if your friend could call the insurance coordinator of the surgeons office and explain that he doesn't have a pcp and if they could give him a recommendation of a good pcp in the area who has referred patients to them? Is that considered- acceptable?
