Very small amounts of food-normal?
hey, glad your doc reassured you. i was where you are and now the amount i can eat is still very small. when i went for my follow up post-surgery i was told that all was fine, we're all unique yadda yadda. but i have issues getting the protein in as i cannot do the protein shakes, i've had several stalls due to not getting enough nourishment and my thought process has been all sorts of whacked out. i am two months out and to give you a peek at my diet for the day it was 1/4 banana, 3 thin slices turkey, slice cheese, 1oz cod... through out the day i drink water and do fine with that. in the beginning i had painfully small sips as well. i hope it helps knowing you are not alone!

32,000 feet high and ready!
I had the pain in the middle of my back... it was an indication for me that it was time to slow the drinking, just going too fast. It has since transitioned to the front. So, good luck with that! Glad you are doing well and both swallow tests were great!

The hardest part ISN'T the food....
Kathy... it really is not fun at all when you begin to strip away the "masking" layers. It's tough and will likely be tougher before better... but in the end you will be strong and so enlightened on yourself. I had a bit of a breakdown (still feel i need to sugarcoat!) about 9 years ago and that spurred so many changes and inner growth. Now, I'm thankful I hit bottom. I still have my set of struggles but can tackle them is such a healthier way. This forum has been a great source of information for me and virtual support, as well. But be sure to find a support group around you so you have some physical contact as well!

Yay, a Surgery Date!!!! x post from OH
Congrats, Lori! the therapy is key, i feel. i had the surgery 2mos ago and my head wasn't as prepared as i should've gotten it... i've been in therapy before and can't imagine what i would've been like had i no clue what my true vices and weaknesses are. i think you should celebrate the great journey you've embarked on...

6 weeks, 42 pounds gone forever!!
Andrea, great job! I wish I was diligent with tracking. I am two weeks ahead of you and did notice my body shape and skin changing with exercise. Seemed to rebound along with the weight loss, so I definitely think you're on the right track! We are doing really well! I, too, am from Michigan... but of the Upper Peninsula variety. Currently in Georgia but do return every summer. Good luck and thanks for the inspiration to get back to tracking!

Weakness, Short of Breath, Rapid Heartbeat...
girly, are you anxious? not meaning to be overtly bold but i am an anxiety gal and those are some classic anxiety symptoms. i don't remember having shortness of breath other than just after surgery when i was ensuring the lungs were all functional. also if you are in pain that will increase your heart rate and give you shortness of breath. perhaps while resting, watching tv, etc. you can "practice" some slow, steady, deep breaths. i hope it gets better, and am sure it will!
