How much could you eat and when?
I'm nearly 4 months out and my amounts are still fairly limited, however I've recently noticed a change. I can eat more and am not as uncomfy after I do eat. This was a huge problem for me since surgery. I look at it as an experiment each day... "what can I eat today?" I still experience hunger, still have to make the right choice on what to put into my mouth, and just came off my first stall. Specific amounts: steak 2 oz, pudding/yogurt 4 oz, 1/2 sandwich crusts trimmed with miracle whip and cheese, 3 oz fish

Why the drastic differences in post-op diets?
Hey Jennifer... hoping you are feeling well. I think there is variety in the post-op plans for lots of reasons, not just to drive us crazy! Once a surgeon has a great record of no leaks, I gather they go with what has been working. My surgeons took a more conservative route and I was on a very slowly progressing diet. They've had good success and the complications are minimal so they stick with this post-op plan. Hope the recovery goes well!

Advice needed- Regaining weight
I've been in a stall and I think logging my food has really helped. Or taking pictures with my phone of everything I put in my mouth. After doing that, I was shocked when I reviewed the log/pics. Good luck...

How soon were you able to exercise?
I was 3 wks, maybe a bit less. I was under doc supervision and just got into the swing of my life a little quicker post-op. Easy to do when your help leaves you with 4 kids to wrangle! Listen to your body and be smart about it. I kept weights by the couch and just curled during shows... didn't use my abs at all but felt like I was doing something. Just feeling like I was making some sort of attempt helped a lot! Good luck!

Pre Op regime, 3 days full liquids 1 day clears and I feel like poop
Ah, gripe away, I do! This will be the furthest from your mind tomorrow and you can power through!! One thing you need to realize right this second is that everything for the next few weeks/months is temporary. Some drinks/foods will work one day and maybe not the next. It is a real learning curve and you need to have patience with your body and become reacquainted with it post-op. I did well likening my post-op food regimen with introducing foods to a baby and psychologically it worked for the most part. You'll have some rough Patches but you'll get through it... one way or another you'll power on through!

13 may be my new lucky number!
Wonderful news, Brian! You've been through a lot and probably are taking care of everyone but you and now you are giving yourself a huge gift! I've been so happy with my sleeve despite some inconveniences. It's been a positive decision and I hope you have the best of luck!

3 Months (and some change) ago...
Going to the gym is very enticing especially when they offer childcare! Thanks everyone. I've been a little stalled lately and needed a pick me up. You are all just what I needed. It's surreal isn't it? After all our struggles and the climbing scales; it is like a fresh start and just in time for those kids to run circles around me!

1 month Post op to the day and the total is....
hooray! that's wonderful!!!

3 Months (and some change) ago...
Some days it seems impossible that over 3 months have gone by since surgery. I can barely remember anything about the first two weeks other than when I hit milestones such as picking up my 1 y.o. and getting off pain meds. There were some very intense moments along the way as well as some sweet victories. My toughest moment was about 1.5 weeks out when I wanted food. I wanted a bite of something. I realized that the relationship I had with food was changed, however grateful I was, I was not prepared. After a large bit of sobbing and sending myself to my room, I just got over it... I do miss the convenience of going to the pantry/refrig/fast food and grabbing something and going. I don't like how much time it takes to deal with food as an overall issue, however it's been a good thing since I am more conscious about what goes into the meal prep and ultimately into my body and my kid's. The best moments occur nearly daily. The other day I went to a class at the gym which requires walking, running and climbing in alternation and I did the whole class! I felt so accomplished. I tend to lose a lot more weight when I am working out with some consistency. It was nice to go grab some shorts at the store and having to go back for more sizes. I've lost 3 dress sizes and seem to go down in sizes when I am not losing weight. My body tends to do one thing at a time so when I'm losing on the scale, I'm not losing in the inches then the opposite occurs. I had my 3 month labs drawn and all is looking good. I am very shocked about that since I've really struggled with getting in food and Protein. I have tried many, many, many protein powders and ready to drink and no luck for me. I am a bit cranky and whiney about the protein flavor and have just given it up in hopes of eating my protein every day. I average between 400-700 calories a day with the occasional day of more. When I have a day with more calories it's usually due to milk or a scoop of ice cream. I am excited to see where I end up... it's been quite a trip so far!

I survived Recital!
Are you staying on WDW property? Will you get the Dining Plan? I'm going in November with my aunt and sister and brother (NO kids!) and my doc gave me the dining card... I've talked with the dining coordinators at WDW to see what they can offer in terms of food. So glad the recital went well!
