Most Humiliating Fat Moment
I have alot of life trauma,,I won't get into that. I'm not sure if it's the reason I am what I am or whether it was the fact that my parents beat it into my head that i was to respect my elders. My incedent with the ex grandmother in law happened when I had just given birth to my first child and I was in my early 20's. That's an isolated incedent actually,,she ruined almost every Christmas for me during my marriage. I might mention,,she was only in her 50's so she wasn't an "old lady"..and she definitely knew better. But she was "my elder" and she was the queen of the family and everyone always took up for anything she said to anyone,,including my ex husband..and they would defend her by telling how sick and weak she was so no one should upset her. So I would always keep my mouth shut as to not stir up trouble in the family. Most of the time I would just leave so she got the idea, I think but it never stopped her. What I couldn't understand is why my ex wouldn't stand up for me. Anyway, I have grown a backbone since then. I try to stand up for myself but sometimes I can't think quick enough or I'm just too in shock from whatever was said to even speak. Alot of times, I just don't know what to say,,I usually get knocked down so it was better to just keep quiet. It happens to me alot. At a given time, I think what I'm saying is the right thing but sometimes people will put up a fight to prove me wrong and I just don't have the energy for that. I'm in therapy, I repress things and hold things in alot,,I'm also a laugh it off kind of person but behind closed doors,,it's a different story. I opened up here because I knew I could get real support and there were probably others that had some of the same experiences that I had.

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
Reading several of these have triggered other memories for me. I remember me and a friend went to a club and I was wearing a white top with black polka dots. Some dude went "mooo" as I walked by. It hurt a little but my friend stated loudly that he must have a really small penis and that I could shake it off because he's just an ugly drunk stranger.

The 3 Week Stall
It's your body catching up and adjusting to all the changes you are making. Just give it some time, it'll break. I have stalls all the time,,short ones and long ones but the weight continues to drop slowly. When I have a long stall, I change things up a bit,,add more protein,, drink more water..excercise more or add more/less calories. That's worked for me every time.

12 Days Out, Feeling Down But No Good Reason
So many changes and just not enough time to prepare for the shock after surgery. 30 pounds loss is so good, you should be really proud of yourself. Just take a deep breath and try to think about all the reasons you had the surgery. Any bad feelings you have will fade away. Do yourself a favor (if you can afford to do it) and go shopping..buy yourself something nice..I can bet ya it'll be smaller than what you were wearing. The surgery will work as long as you are abiding by the guidelines put forth by your doctor..which sounds like you are since you have lost a whopping 30 pounds!!! If you aren't doing this already,,check it out..there is a Labor day challenge where you can set up how much you want to lose by the holiday, it's not too late. It's a great motivator and will keep you focused. Here's the link so you can read about it. Good luck hun. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/43784-labor-day-challenge-2012/

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
Thanks for all the support you guys and for all of you who are sharing your story, each one was heartbreaking. I hate that you have gone through such horrid experiences but it is really helping me in a way that I can't explain. There's been dozens of embarrassing moments,,this one just stuck out. I guess my second worse was at the movie theater with my son. The kids behind us asked their mom if they could move because they couldn't see passed the big lady in front of them. I was more embarrassed for my son than for myself. I don't mean to be a debbie downer or anything..I'm a pretty positive person,,it's just good therapy for me to get it off my chest. God has really blessed me with some great friends here,,thanks for listening and for all the kind comments.

Feeling Kinda Bad Today:/
Aww, I'm so sorry for you You sound just miserable. Something that helps me is lying back in a nice extra warm bath by candle light. Staying off your feet helps the behind area. Also the low light and warmth of the bath might help the headache.

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
Years ago..my ex grandmother in law (who was really mean to me) bought me 2 pair of underwear for Christmas,,she's dead now. They looked really small so in front of everyone she held them up and said "yall think these will fit Karen? Yeah they'll fit,,see??" Then she stretched them beyond recognition to show everyone that my fat butt would fit those bloomers. Besides the fact she did this in front of 75 family members..some of my ex's cousins were kids my age that I went to school with. I was humiliated and it affected me for years. It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much now but back then I was so insecure and self consious about my weight..it was so embarrassing. I could see others were embarrassed for me and even commented to me about how bad they felt for me,,which made me feel worse. I just wanted it to be over and bury my head somewhere. I wanted to post this so I can get over it..anyone else have a really sucky moment?

How Much Protein, Carbs Etc Is Recommended?
Sorry,,guess I didn't post that right. I was just answering the OP question about what was recommended for us. I do get in my protein first and my carbs don't just exist of whole wheat,,that is just a recommendation from my doctor versus white bread or flour..if I eat any bread on a rare occasion, it's whole wheat or grain.

How Much Protein, Carbs Etc Is Recommended?
My doctor recommends 75-100 carbs a day, choose whole grain or whole wheat products. I get less carbs in because I don't tolerate them well and I think those numbers are too high. He also wants us to get in 70 grams of protein a day. Good luck!

Is Anyone Else Dealing With Lupis, Or Any Other Autoimmune Disease? Please Help!
I have myasthenia gravis, hashimotos, fibro, osteomalacia and arthritis. I had some positive tests but 'm undiagnosed for lupus and rheumatoid. I had an exacerbation due to the mg just months prior to sleeve surgery so my neurologist was very gungho about me getting the surgery. She's the one that recommended it. I had respiratory distress brought on while walking a 1/4 mile on a semi hot day. MG causes chronic weakness, my chestwall muscles had become very weak and set it off,,I spent 2 weeks in ICU then a week of plasmapheresis treatments. Since sleeve surgery it's becoming easier to breathe, I'm no longer using a bipap. I'm really thankful. I can walk at a 4% incline for a mile..which is really good for me. I'm still on meds, will probably always have to take them but they are actually working now..before it seemed nothing would help other than the plasmap. Steroids caused me to have diabetes and cushings syndrome,,I also gained 70 pounds on them so I can totally relate..the mention of steroids scares me to death. I also have tried IVIG treatments but I'm in the 1% for the worse side effect which caused me to have aseptic meningits.LOL Holy cow,,I sound like a mess. I really appreciate the OP because I never have anyone to talk to about what I go through and nice to talk to people who understands.

What Goal Weight?
According to my body type and height, 135-145 is a good weight for me so that is my goal. I haven't been that weight since junior high.lol I was asked by the psych what my "ideal" weight was and that was what I told her..she said that was good so I'm sticking with it.

Hospital Stay?
oooh ok..lol I thought you were thinking that was where I was leaking.haha Just imagine wearing an uncomfy pair of pants,,you have to adjust to it..it was no big deal and removal was a breeze and just felt wierd,,didn't hurt, not me anyway.

Hospital Stay?
I had an area at the top of my stomach that either didn't take to the staple or it came loose..doc said it could've been due to pulling up to a sitting position, a sneeze or hard cough maybe?? I had followed all my post op rules to a T..I did have a coughing spell so who knows. It was a pin size hole,,the leak wasn't streaming, it was bubbling when they found it. It took a while but it healed up nicely. They did a leak test after surgery, because of alot of swelling, it didn't show up at that time. I was only the 3rd leak ever from this doctor (he had done several thousand)..he's truly amazing and was sooo on top of things. It happens..didn't like it but wasn't the first time I had a rare side effect happen to me (not sleeve related though)
-
Hospital Stay?
They took it out before I was discharged,,the port didn't have anything to do with my leak.
-
Hospital Stay?
I guess you're asking me?lol I had left arm pain, a fever, nausea and stomach pain. I took a trip to the ER where the leak was discovered.
