I am soooooo angry....
At four weeks I too threw might back out. I have bulging disks at l4 and L5 A couple trips to a REAL chiropractor put back in place. Just adjustments, no selling ect. My guy is a sports therapists and dug out his PT cards and copied the daily exercises for me. He did not even try to sell me another adjustment,, he just lets me call when I feel my hips and spine are pivoting. After the first throw out I was fine with the exception of a couple tweaks here and there! Now down a 106 pounds I feel GREAT! My back is sore here and there, but not that horrid deep pain of the past. A word to the wise, if you can apply the term "Crack em and Rack em" to your chiropractor, he or she is a quack!

Having a bad hair day
I am by no means a board expert, but I am dealing with thinking hair, especially at the temples. My hair dresser recommended Nioxxium scalp treatment and it is helping! I see new growth! We were going to try Rogaine next if the Nioxxum did not work. She also showed me some ways to repart my hair and pull hair forward. The hair dresser said it was good to mix up the parts so the fresh hair is exposed.

Well I did it, cheated my a** off today, 14 days post
Just remember, if sitting in a resturant and looking at a menu your eyes should only be looking for what meat you want to eat. Once you pick a meat you will then have to look at the sides that come with it. You will tell them to keep anyting like potoes or rice in kitchen, ask for extra green veggies. Always tell the waitress to keep the bread or crakers off the table. If going to taco bell, order a chicken taco from the Fresco menu, no sour cream and eat just the meat, and when approve lettuce out it and throw out the shell. If the shell is going to tempt you, throw it away first! The new rule of the post op sleeve is you eat your Protein first, then IF there is room you move to a vegie. You wil best work your sleeve and feel restrcition with meat first, all else last. No dust yourself off, you know your weakness now.... avoid it!

Bariatric Advantage...
They are expensive and you have to mix them them yourself. I like Premier Protien shakes from costco, the chocolate flavor. They are ready made and taste like choc milk to me. I like the Bariatric Advantage strawberry and banana, how ever I would never have bought it at full price, I got luck and was able to by some from another person who had invested in all 3 bags and did not like them. Maxx from GNC or the Vitamin shop are close in nutrients to Bariatric advantange. Go to gnc , they have lots of samples for sale, HOWEVER watch the carbs in them. Many of the protien drinks have large amounts of carbs we do not want!

Hate having to lie to my family
I think often times when family objects to wls it is more about how it makes them feel about themselves, rather than their concern for you.

What is it like having WLS
This seems to be a common statement among st all WLS patients. If you are on the line about getting the surgery done, this is the one line in all the posts you should pay attention to. While we all have different concerns and fears pre op, We all share the same post op thought. I WISH I HAD DONE IT YEARS AGO!

how did ur attitude change after your weightloss
You funny you brought this up. I seen a girlfriend for the first time since losing a hundred pounds. (she had no clue) and she was shocked, kept telling me how amazing I looked. I don't take compliments well, not used to them and tend to dismiss them. Then I had the occasion to see her a few days later and she told her son how amazing I look, she went on to say " The new improved on the outside but the same good person on inside". I smiled, but the words have stuck with me. Yes I will always be caring and loving and helping, going the extra mile for others. HOWEVER, I have noticed that I am more confident and assertive on some things. Of course she could not have noticed that in one lunch date. I have been stepping up to take care of business, even if it takes a toll on me. I will not let wrongs at businesses go unmentioned. I even opened my mouth up about crappy service by my surgeons staff and told him as great as he was, his staff could bring him down. Now with that said, there is a difference between being assertive and just plain mean! So as you loose, you will see that if someone says something you dislike, you tell them but you wont do it in a mean way. That would bring you down to their level.

Do you have any rather odd or unique goals?
To get to under 200 for the first time in my adult life~done To wear a pair of pants not in the plus sizes~done To be able to go in any store and be able to by something off rack~done To like what I see in mirror~ done (of course I am not done, but I no longer cringe) To exercise on a regular basis, doing and expanding my realms of fitness. I can't wait to see what is like on airplane, I have not current plans to go anywhere soon. To layout on the deck of a cruse ship in swimming suit. Learn to Scuba dive for Hawaii this January!

Possibly adjusting my goal weight
I am shooting for145, but I have been sticking around the 165 range for a while now. I called my nut and she said our bodies just kinda figure it out and stay where they are comfy. While I will keep shooting for goal, I am not going to sweat it.

Airline booking questions
Well at southwest, if you buy two seats they refund one if the plane was not completely full. That being said, check out my post in the General VS support Too big to fly, click here If you are booking to go to Mexico for surgery, you might ask if your surgical center has any recommendations.

Telling your boss
I thought about staying quiet before my surgery, but as it closer I just told everyone. I figured they would all put 2 and 2 together. Being gone, eating tiny bits of food and rapid weight loss. Now that they have seen the results I get all kinds of compliments and I have helped a few others explore wls and share my experience readily with them.

Itchy incisions-Help
I am allergic to adhesives so the steri strips sent me to the moon! I used hydrocortizone cream on them, rubbed it right into the strip and around it. The Doc removed the strips at day 7.

Is it just me or is this not as easy as it seems?
I had lots of surgeries prior to VSG, so I knew abdominal surgery was going to be painful. The thing I was not prepared for was the gas they used to open the field as prior surgeries were open. Now if I had to compare gas pain to the pain of open abdominal surgery, there is no comparison. The gas is more like an annoying left over pain, where as the pain from the large incisions was intense and required lots of narcotics and recovery time. I went in knowing that I had to go through the discomfort to achieve the goal of weight loss I so deeply desired. That frame of mind keep me from focusing on every pain and new uncomfortable feeling I had after the surgery. I would just say " and this too shall pass, and I will loose weight!" By Day 7 this will all be just a thing in your past and you will be well on your way to your weight loss goals!
