  1. I had pain under my shoulder right side as long as 6 weeks post op that really bothered me while sitting up at work. I contributed it nerve and gas pain and it went away.
  2. Look at my states, nuff said
  3. Wow, talk about getting RISE out of folks
  4. Trust me girl friend, no one there cares what your nails look like, they only see the surgical site through the blue drape. Then they are on to the person! Former surgical tech.
  5. Well did I do it the right way,, No. I was being stubborn and enough of doctors, having a bit of medical background I took myself off meds. I monitored my BP at home and Blood Glucose and just did it. My surgeon would not touch the meds questions. I have and aversion to too many drs visits in a a year
  6. Tell us all you want! We have been there done that! Best of luck!
  7. MB, that was me in first ever event just 2 months after I bought a bike,, We did 36 mile in Tour de Cure for diabetes! YES me 36 miles on my bike! My first ever sporting event! Hills kinda of still kill me but I refused to walk my bike in front of those sleek professional riders!
  8. So I went, I was so super nervous for some reason???? None of the staff said a word to me, got kinda nervous. So I wait and wait and wait for the doc in the room, he finally comes in and he stops in his tracks and says Look AT YOU! He was smiling from ear to ear. He said he was so proud of me. Then he says how did you do it? Eating right? Exercise? I said both and I had VSG. He clearly did not have a clue about the procedure. I had to explain it to him. He then says " It is reversible? and I am like well I suppose if you get me a donor stomach? I told him I don't see any need for my stomach ever again, it was allowed me to be fat all my life. We reviewed meds, Nope, no longer taking 5 blood pressure medicines, no longer taking metformin. He listened to my heart, and then he just stopped and looked at me again and said " You know I can't tell you how proud I am of you" and reached out and put his hand on my shoulder and said "now come on lets get you out of here, you are too healthy to spend your day in a doctors office!"
  9. Here is my 2 cents worth. No my arms are not perfect, I have loose wings, but they really only show when I lift my arms up away from my body sideways. I have a girl friend who had the surgery, not only was she in a lot of pain, now she had scars that run the length of her upper arms. So I am thinking if I have surgery I am still going to be embarrassed from scars to wear sleeveless shirts so what is the point???? I will continue to tone my arms and that toning shows front and out side and really a lot in the lower arms and so I will carefully chose my shirts and continue to tone, no surgery on arms for me. Now since I will NEVER be bikini material I will have a tummy tuck!
  10. I am 7 months post op, down 106 pound from the beginning of my weight loss journey. I have not seen my PCP since I weighed 238 pounds, I have been going to him for over 20 years and he was really pushing for me to have lap band. I never told him I decided to have vsg and I seen his nurse practitioner pre surgery so he has NO IDEA I had this done or about the weight loss, I think he is going to fall over! Stand by for details of visit...................................................
  11. You go girl! Amazing stats! We all wonder why we didn't do it sooner I am thinking at 47 I wasted so much of my life and I am trying to fit it all the fun now!
  12. Congrats! Take each NSV proudly! You deserve it!
  13. I have had back problems for past 3 years. What you describe does not sound like normal muscular pain. Are you urinating ok? I do think a call to the doctor would be wise.
  14. Contact Bariatric advantage and see about exchanging them for the berry flavor. At their prices they should be more than willing!
  15. Yeah but then I would REALLY be bald.. i love my hairdresser!
  16. So here I am at 8 months out and suddenly my hair starts thinning in front to the point I am condsidering a hair piece. I knew hair loss was a possiblility and I was willing to lose it to lose weight and gain health, but it getting increasingly difficult to style what is left of my bangs creatively. So today I found this article from Mayo that reassures me that I will get my hair back, however I disagree about the nutriention part as I have been all about my protien and Vitamins. If you are one of those people that seek to lose weight, there is something that you need to be made aware of. Rapid weight loss over the course of several weeks or months can lead to hair loss. Any type of Vitamin supplement everyday when you are trying to lose weight in order to replenish the nutrients that you may lose. Doctors also recommend keeping a healthy diet full of all the essential daily needs I also found this website that sells partial hair pieces that looks like it might help: http://www.paulayoung.com/category/hairpieces/top+%26+crown+integration+piece.do?nType=2
  17. First let me say I am so very sorry you have to deal with this. My prayers are with you. Secondly I would like to say having the sleeve and losing weight proves you are a strong person and YOU CAN DO THIS! Please keep us posted and know you will be in my daily prayers.
  18. Congrats! Yeah food gone from the mind, priceless! Replace food thoughts with wanting to exercise? not enough time in one day to full fill the desire!
  19. Up 4 lbs during,, lose that day 6 and then SLOWLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY lose oz. ;(
  20. I am 7 months out and I have not had pizza yet, not because my stomach can't handle it,, but because I only want to put the most productive weight loss food in the sleeve! I look at this way,, I did not go through this procedure to continue in my old bad habits and I want the weight loss to happen now, not later!
  21. Go back or to another pcm, bring a notebook of your research and present your case. Point out people die of obesity related conditions too. Very ignorant of her to spout that out!
  22. All of you please be KIND to yourselves! You just had major surgery! You are going to feel ucky for a while yes, No pain,, no gain, ( in weight loss that is:) ) I tried to just think of every discomfort as the price I was willing to pay to get healthy. I kind thought of it all as proof I had done the right thing. Don't wake up at night to just to sip. You will be fine overnight without liquids. I promise each day gets better! Soon life with your sleeve will be the norm and you will be rocking the numbers on the scale!
  23. Thanks! I surprised myself! I just got into a zone and pushed myself. I refused to walk the hills, to embarrassing in front of those sleek advanced riders
