    Weight Gain

I am a little more than a year out from my gastric sleeve an initially lost around 75 lbs. I recently started back on my antidepressant and seem to crave carbs. I have put back on about 20 lbs and really need to get my snacking under control. In the past being on antidepressants was a major cause of my weight gain and I am trying to tame the carb monster since I started back on the meds. Any suggestions besides getting back to religiously tracking calories. I still work out about 4 days a week. I think focusing on my protein intake may help with the carb cravings but I thought I would see if others have any recommendations. Sent from my SM-G998U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Diet right after surgery?

Hi everyone, Just wondering what your diet was directly after leaving the hospital?

I'd be elated if my hunger had never come back (unfortunately, mine came roaring back at five months out), but yea - that retching would be awful. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. P.S. I could never do a buffet anymore. I can eat more than you, but it's not enough to justify what you pay for to eat at those. I usually order an entree and take 1/2 of it home. Unfortunately, you can't box up uneaten buffet items and take them home with you like you can with regular orders - so I never get those anymore

I am only 3 months out and Haven't stopped enjoying going to restaurants. I usually just share whatever my husband gets (with my input) since I can eat so little - but still very much enjoy the experience. I still get to eat food prepared by someone else! It is just as satisfying as eating at home, except in different surroundings and ambiance. Mind over matter!

Sorry you are feeling so out of step with your family. Maybe turn meals into a social event for you? you can enjoy the small portions of things at the restaurant and really try to spend the time talking or maybe playing some games around the table? Change it into an advantage for you since you won’t be spending as much time consuming as much. Or go on after meal walks or other low budget adventures. If there is more to it, I hope you can find the cause and bring it out in the open and deal with what’s upsetting you.

I do have a target weight of 190lbs I’m 5’5 I had started at 358lbs and am now at 258lbs I don’t know if my goal is reasonable but it’s just something to work towards and keep trying to get to it. Our bodies have been through a major change and we are not going to reach our goals overnight. We all have a lot that needs to change including tightening of loose skin which is also extra weight which takes longer to get rid of. Just don’t give up on your self and keep your eyes on your goal. It might take over a year to get that but it may not take that long. Just stay focused you got this we all do 😁

Keep it up as long as you feel better that’s what matters. Everyone loses weight different I’ve just started slowing down losing weight now which it’s been 6 months since Feb 8 so I figured it would by now. I’m down 100lbs exact since surgery still got more to go but I’m feeling great and that’s what matters keep it up!!!

    3 week stall

Changing macros is always interesting and usually pays off. Some say cut the carbs, others say up them. For example, I upped my carbs to over 100g and dropped another 5 lbs. I have been below my weight loss goal but was stalled for a few weeks. I have been working up to consume the 7-13 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, as per my surgeon's diet plan. It's similar to the Longevity diet based on a 30 year recent study.
