    Surgery yesterday- my experience

    I had a sleeve done yesterday, late morning, and I am about 24 hrs out. My doc put me on gabapentin the day prior, and I had some dilautid in recovery. SO much LESS pain than I anticipated. I was about to drink water and broth all afternoon and night with minimal discomfort. Walked twice up and down the halls... today am feeling well enough to get out of bed alone use the bathroom and walk without assistance. Had a tiny (1/2) dose of some narcotic overnight, more as a precaution, otherwise have been comfortable with Tylenol and torodol. Good luck to all the upcoming surgeries!     Too much weight loss?

    I understand your concerns, but you should follow your nutritionist's advice (and possibly also see a therapist). I think you need to focus on fuel and energy, not empty calories. So if you need to add 200 calories to your diet, add some fruit to your breakfast or add some complex carbs like oatmeal or brown rice to your meals. Don't eat something that you know might trigger you, like cookies or ice cream. Take care and good luck!

    Absolutely listen to your team’s advice (they have seen it all) but ultimately the choice is yours. I understand the knee jerk reaction anyone can have from gaining especially after working long and hard to lose. But IMHO the goal is healthy, whatever that looks like for you ❤️ You may naturally gain a little anyway If you are more that 2 yrs from surgery (or when maintenance begins) Weight loss should slow down eventually if you are not actively trying to lose. Congratulations on making it to goal.

    I hadn't heard that until a month or two ago. Someone else mentioned that here on BP. I think she also had BCBS insurance.

    Not a huge issue but...

    I have clothes in my closet ranging from 16 - 24. I never got rid of some of my favourite clothes because I was going to lose weight and fit back into them (ie my rationale for keeping them!). When I knew I was getting surgery I just hung on to them so that I didn't spend a fortune on clothes. For all the other things I need...I'm close to a few thrift/goodwill stores so I will supplement there. I almost never buy clothes online...though...I'd really like to one day! I'd go ahead and buy a few things that you'd like...and then save for next summer when you can go all out

    Stress Eating Post-Sleeve

    I would do a self care reboot and contact a therapist. For self care, I buy myself beautiful flowers (lavender colored roses are my fave), take a bubble bath, put on some music and dance, maybe get a massage or pedicure. Whatever you like and feels good!

    Running out of steam

    This happens to me every time I expend more energy than usual. I take a break to go eat something. That helps. I’ve even had to take a nap - usually not conducive to the activity. I learned this is simply energy out = energy in. Your body is telling you it needs more energy.

    Protein bars

    I eat Built protein bars when I am on the go, or after a workout for a protein blast. While I do like the taste of them and they do have a candy bar-like texture, I do not find them to make me want to eat a real candy bar. They are a convenient fuel for my body. I am a bit of an exercise addict, and they are a go-to for me post workout. Unlike meat proteins, I find I can eat them pretty fast and they are just the right size to be easy on my tummy. With all of that said, it is always a good idea to check with your nutritionist. I also could not stand the taste of protein shakes early on. Try mixing with different liquids to mask the taste.
