    February 2021 bypassers?

I had same concerns and felt like I was going to be able to eat everything. Liquid moves through pretty quick. Even most of the puree I did moved through pretty quick. The soft food week was rough trying to gage how many bites would fill me. It is still rough, trying to figure how much food will fill without giving me a lump in my chest for an hour. When you eat real food you will notice the limit of your stomach. I had surgery 1/28. Been eating solid for a few weeks. Everyman I have to remember to eat slow and stop when you start to feel even a little uncomfortable.

    Night sweats. Menopause? Help!

then that could be. I know a lot of women mention their hormones being screwed up for awhile the first few weeks or months after surgery...

    Energy

Make sure you guys are getting ferritin levels checked, and not just depending on your RBCs and hemoglobin to make sure your iron is ok. Mine were on the edge, but still normal when my doctor ran ferritin levels and my iron was VERY low. This can cause fatigue and a host of other symptoms. And yep, I take my iron like I'm supposed to.....but managed to get iron deficiency without anemia anyway... because I donate blood a lot, still menstruate, and eat a mostly vegan diet. Anyone suffereing low BP, fatigue, lack of stamina....get the full iron panel. Since I've been taking more iron and watching my diet, quit donating so much blood....my stamina is off the chart...terrific energy...and my hair is amazing.

    Packing for hospital

I slept most of the time, too. I just brought my phone and charger. I brought dry mouth spray, but I can't remember if I used it or not. I also brought some toiletries, but they gave me a bag of those at the hospital (soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste). Oh and wear baggy, comfy, easy to get on & off clothes for the ride home. I wore the same thing to and from the hospital.

    9 months out-VSG Fundus Complications

My situation is a little different (GERD and hiatal hernia, but sleeve seems okay) but here is what I would suggest based on what I have learned trying to understand my problems. It might be worth getting a second opinion from a surgeon in a different practice who is willing to look at your upper GI imaging and tell you if they think the sleeve looks properly shaped or not. I have been reading this doctor's webpage where he talks about how, in some cases, a misshapen gastric sleeve can aggravate GERD: https://houstonsleevesurgeon.com/category/acid-reflux-and-heartburn/ If you are having significant GERD, you should probably get on meds for that and see if that is enough to control it. When I was reading about this, I did see one study that talked about how, for some post-sleeve patients, the GERD gets better after about 3 years or so because your stomach becomes more "compliant' by that point (and then there is not as much pressure in the sleeve to push the acid up), so if the GERD is controllable with meds, you could try waiting it out and see if it gets better. If it doesn't get better, or if it is not responding to the meds. then you have to decide if you want to get an RNY, or if you want to try the Linx, or possibly ask your doctor about this new procedure I recently learned that some doctors are trying for those of us with sleeves who are having GERD: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S000296102030814X

    February 2021 bypassers?

Hang in there kbrooks you aren't alone in this! When I hit a stall or a slow down I think about 4 things 1. I didn't get into the position I WAS in overnight it took time - years - What makes me think I can reverse it overnight? This is a marathon not a sprint. 2. Have I fallen into a rut with what I'm eating maybe I need to try some new foods? 3. (And this one is the hardest for me) Am I active enough? Especially with having to be cooped up in our homes away from friends and family it's easy, for me anyway, to not want to get moving but I have a purpose to do it and that helps. 4. Don't step on the scale everyday it can be very frustrating when you know you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing and your body isn't for whatever reason reacting the way you think it should. The body is a complex machine and it knows what it's supposed to do. As long as you aren't putting the weight back on you do your part and let the machine do it's work. I used to go Weight Watchers and they had a new coach one day and I had been struggling for a few weeks of not losing and even gaining and at weigh in she looked at me and said "don't worry when you are ready to work at it you will start losing again" I thought to myself what kind of coach are you? You don't know anything about me what I'm doing, or not doing if I have some sort of struggle happening in my life. Needless to say that was my last WW meeting.

    NOT excercising at all

I stopped exercising after a couple of months (I was walking on my treadmill) because of my low energy & low blood pressure. The day I almost fell off due to being so tired & light headed I decided enough. It’s true. Exercise contributes very little to actual weight loss. But it does contribute to your general health. It also increases your appetite to compensate for the calories you’ve burnt. I still don’t exercise but try to be active in other ways. Dash up & down the stairs in my house. Park further away from where I’m going. Walk at a pace around shopping centres etc. Take stairs when possible. Walk to the local shops. It all helps.
